Whew. This past week was much better than the first. Most of my teams that started off with a loss got back to even and a number of solid teams moved to 2-0. Sadly there are more 0-2 teams in my portfolio than I would like. We know a lot more about the landscape out there today than we did two weeks ago, but we still need more time for the process of variance to give us a clearer picture. For this NFL season, a collection of 14 DFF analysts took their talents to a new Redraft league. As the analyst with the 14th pick, I knew it would be an uphill climb to add value. Despite this being a redraft league, I decided to go with my favorite dynasty strategy, the zero-RB. Knowing that this is a 14-team league, we had to adjust compared to the standard 12-team leagues in which elite positional players hold even more of a premium.

Rookie drafts are wrapping up and startups are the only thing getting dynasty owners through the off-season. If you’re a true dynasty degenerate, at least set yourself up for success from the draft. We’re not going to just set ourselves up for success now, but build a sustainable roster for the future to create a true “dynasty.” You don’t have to go all-in on big-name vets, nor do you need to only draft players under 26. Tampa Bay made it apparent that they wanted to retain Brady’s pass-catchers by re-signing both Antonio Brown and Chris Godwin. Add them to the mix of Mike Evans, Scotty Miller, Rob Gronkowski, and Cameron Brate, and this group may be the deepest receiving crew in the league. To add more fire to the mix, O.J. Howard will come into the 2021 season fully healthy again. Brady finished as the QB8 last season, but most of his damage came in the second half of the season. From Weeks 7 and 17, he served as the QB6, but what’s more impressive is that he finished as the QB2 during the last three weeks of the season. Why is that the more impressive part? Brandon Aiyuk began his collegiate football career at Sierra College, a community college in California. After a strong sophomore season, Aiyuk transferred to Arizona State. As a junior, Aiyuk underwhelmed alongside future first-round pick N’Keal Harry. But he blew up as a senior, recording a 40.6% dominator rating (81st percentile) with 65 receptions for 1,192 yards and eight TDs. On March 20th, Kenny Golladay signed a four-year, $72 million contract with the New York Giants. Put another way, the biggest receiver in free agency signed the biggest contract to play in the Big Apple. When an elite wide receiver changes teams, as we saw with Stefon Diggs and DeAndre Hopkins in 2020, it’s kind of a big deal. Each and every week, I’ll be covering a handful of players that I believe will either exceed expectations or let your team down in a major way. Here’s who you should be looking at for Week 10.
The last time we saw Carson Wentz, he didn’t look great. He turned the ball over four times against the Cowboys and threw for less than 150 yards. However, Wentz topped 21 fantasy points four times from Weeks 3 to 7. He already has 5 rushing TDs this season, and with Fulgham, Reagor, Jeffery, Goedert, and Sanders all expected to play in Week 10, he’ll have his best supporting cast of the season.
I should have trusted my gut. I needed to stream a tight end on Sunday and I had a sneaky good feeling about one of them. My starter, Tyler Higbee, was in danger of missing out on Monday Night Football due to injury. Anytime you have a starter with an injury designation playing on Monday, you know you need a backup plan. I checked every ranking I could, and they all told me that my best available options were Dalton Schultz and Darren Fells. I had a feeling about a different guy, but it’s tough to make that call when the best people in the industry have him ranked seven or eight spots below. I picked Darren Fells, who had scored in two straight games and saw seven targets last week.
The guy I had a gut feeling about? He went out and scored two touchdowns. Trust your gut, people. I could’ve had Harrison Bryant. If only I had a friend who writes this column with me and has been talking up Bryant since the draft. If only…

There really is nothing more exciting than draft season. This is my first time competing in the DFF redraft championship, so the pressure was and still is firmly on. The league format was 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 2 Flex, 1 TE, 1 D/ST. I landed the 9th spot in the 12-team draft and this is how the dominoes fell. Rounds 1-2 My early-round strategy of smashing running back in the first two rounds follows suit with most in the industry. At 1.09 I passed on Michael Thomas to take Josh Jacobs, the RB9 in my rankings. Unfortunately, I missed out on Miles Sanders by one pick. But, I was happy to take the safe option in Jacobs with the guaranteed volume and goal-line work. At 2.04 I was praying one of my top 14 RBs got back to me and the stars aligned for Joe Mixon to fall into my lap. This steal was made possible due to the potential holdout. But, after hearing Zac Taylor say he expected Mixon to be ready for week 1 I was delighted to snap him up this late. Rounds 3-4 In many drafts, I would consider a third RB here. But, due to the 3 WR format, I decided to focus on the receivers. At 3.09 I selected D.J. Moore who was the 11th WR taken.
