It was announced today that Sam Darnold is likely to miss a few weeks with a fractured scapula. This means that P.J. Walker is going to be Carolina’s starter for the foreseeable future. We know just how valuable the quarterback position is in non-one quarterback leagues due to it being the highest ceiling and floor position. When one of the NFL’s 32 quarterbacks is on the free market it’s a must-add. To be realistic, P.J. Walker isn’t someone we are ecstatic about. In 2020 he had 56 pass attempts, good for a 57.0 PFF passing grade. Which is quite bad. For reference, that would put him 31/35 amongst all QBs in 2020. He had five total rush attempts last year. I would be treating P.J. Walker on the FAAB market like a Geno Smith-light.

What an absolutely crazy week of upsets! The presumed best quarterback on the slate couldn’t lead his team to even score a touchdown against the Jaguars. THE JAGUARS! I feel like we’re all in a dream and that this week is a lie! With that being said, let’s see how my weekly DFS picks played out!
Week 9 is here and there are some great values that you cannot miss out on! So let’s get ready to dig in! Also, don’t forget to create multiple lines and diversify your lineups to prevent unforeseen ‘busts’.
What is up DFF Army? After a week off due to a Nor’Easter shutting down the power in Massachusetts for most of the week, we are back to provide some insightful Week 9 suggestions. Although new information always causes us to reconsider things, we now have enough information to drive decision-making. As we discover trends through the season we will be able to make more determined analyses on specific picks. To go along with matchups and trends, we will look at key fantasy players who have the most beneficial or detrimental matchups.
The Jaguars drafted Josh Allen seventh overall in the 2019 NFL draft. That pick is paying big dividends for Jacksonville this season. The edge rusher is producing top defensive end performances consistently, with Week 8 being no exception. Allen’s slash line included six total tackles, four TFLs, and two sacks against the Seahawks. IDP managers can continue to start Allen as an elite edge rusher in all formats.

I will attempt to have the format consistently be a buy and sell for each position but that may increase or decrease depending on the week.
I whiffed on a lot of “starts” in Week 8. Truthfully, I’m still reeling from Kenny Gainwell’s usage, or lack thereof, and the duds we saw from Mike Williams and Emmanuel Sanders. But at least the “sits” were spot on. Now it’s time to take a look at Week 9. As always, I’ll be bringing you names at every position that I believe will exceed expectations or fall flat.
Let’s get into the picks.
Don’t look now but in the last two Jaguars’ games, Jamal Agnew has been the target leader on the team posting a near 20% target share. With DJ Chark out for the year, Laviska Shenault being very disappointing, and still having an aDOT close to the line of scrimmage, Agnew is worth the shot on the waiver wire.
After the Atlanta Falcons drafted Kyle Pitts, fellow tight end Hayden Hurst became the forgotten man among the fantasy community. While he hasn’t made too much of an impact, he is still seeing some work in the passing game. Coming off a week eight where he played on 62% of the offensive snaps, Hurst is still seeing the field a good amount.
At this point, you are prepping for the fantasy playoffs. Some of you need to rely on streaming options, and you have done so all season. There is nothing wrong with that, and you should do anything to win your weekly matchup. Some of these names below have been featured in this series in recent weeks. If they did it before, they can do it again. Remember, throughout this series, we will provide the best weekly options to stream at quarterback, tight end, and D/ST. Keep in mind, each streaming option will be below 50% owned, according to ESPN leagues.

These recommendations further assume you, the manager, have finite roster space with challenging cut decisions to add new names.

Your author gives his apologies for not providing this article last week, as the wife needed an unexpected minor surgery. All is well now. As readers know, in this weekly article, we will take a look at a couple of IDP players available in many leagues that appear to show promise or have a foreseeable path to time on the field and production. The hope is that you can acquire these players for free or relatively close to free. It depends on the depth and settings of each individual league. Qualifying players are those available in at least two-thirds of full IDP leagues on MyFantasyLeague.com (MFL).
Demario Davis had one of the best games of his career on Monday Night Football this week. The 10-year veteran created 10 total tackles, four TFLs, two sacks, and defended a pass to help beat the Seahawks. A consistent producer for many years, Davis remains a locked-in weekly starter in IDP fantasy football.

Week 7’s “starts” brought you the QB1, QB11, RB12, WR4, WR18, and TE3. I also helped you to avoid duds from Sam Darnold, Tyler Lockett, and Tyler Boyd. So, let’s focus on that rather than my advice to play Allen Robinson or bench Joe Burrow and D’Ernest Johnson… Anyway, with just two teams on bye this week, we have more fun players to choose from in Week 8. So, I’ve decided to add some “honorable mentions” to the mix this week. As always, I’ll be bringing you names at every position that I believe will exceed expectations or fall flat.Let’s get into the picks.
Playing on just over 50% of the offensive snaps for the season, tight end Mo Alie-Cox may be a decent pick up in a position that is so hit or miss. Scoring touchdowns in back-to-back weeks, Alie-Cox is a big target who can pose as a real red-zone threat. This past week, Alie-Cox played fewer snaps and ran fewer routes than fellow tight end Jack Doyle. However, he drew more targets and produced better fantasy numbers than him. Alie-Cox he yet to log more than three catches in a game and has recorded over 30 yards in just two contests. Most likely, he will be a touchdown-dependent player.
It’s now Week 8, which means we are about halfway through the fantasy season. For those off to a good start, time flies when you’re winning. For others who haven’t, this may be a “must-win” type of week. Nonetheless, you need to key in on streaming options this week. We know how valuable starting quarterbacks are in Superflex fantasy football because there are just so few of them, especially when the injuries and bye weeks start to pile up. Joe Flacco just got traded to the Jets after it appears that Zach Wilson is going to be down for a few weeks. Flacco isn’t as great of an option as Newton and Geno because his rushing ability simply does not exist, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be putting some FAAB to acquire a starting quarterback.
