What an absolutely crazy week of upsets! The presumed best quarterback on the slate couldn’t lead his team to even score a touchdown against the Jaguars. THE JAGUARS! I feel like we’re all in a dream and that this week is a lie! With that being said, let’s see how my weekly DFS picks played out!
QUARTERBACKS
To start, let’s look at how my quarterback picks performed this weekend. Josh Allen was an absolute mess, scoring an uncharacteristic 12.5 DK points. Fortunately, if you pivoted to Lamar Jackson you benefited quite handsomely. Jackson was this week’s highest scorer as he produced 35.6 DK points. Dak Prescott and Teddy Bridgewater proved to be quality starts as the two scored 19.9 and 21.9 DK points respectively. Bridgewater and the Broncos also got the best of Prescott and the Cowboys this week as the two went head to head. Joe Burrow and Tyrod Taylor, two players I had exposure to in the middle/lower price range, both had disappointing showings as they produced under 10 DK points.
RUNNING BACKS
Next, let’s evaluate the running back plays of the week. James Conner was the highest scoring RB and produced 40.3 DK points. If you were a Conner truther this week, then I applaud your telepathic abilities. Running backs Alvin Kamara and Dalvin Cook provided mediocre performances where they at least would not have lost you this week. As for Austin Ekeler, my favorite RB play of the week, he did not give us the same fortune. Ekeler had 20 touches for a total of 82 yards. This totaled to a mere 11.2 DK points. My second favorite RB play of the week was Aaron Jones. Jones was even more disappointing, as he barely topped 5 DK points in a matchup where he should have dominated. Fortunately, cheaper options in Myles Gaskin and Devontae Booker proved worthy RB2s as they both produced 15+ DK points.
WIDE RECEIVERS
This was an incredibly odd week for receivers, as DeVonta Smith was the top scorer at the position with 25.6 DK points. Top options in Davante Adams, Tyreek Hill, Stefon Diggs, and Ja’Marr Chase all fell short of their projections. If you chose to pay up this week, you were surely let down. The best value on the slate, in Brandon Aiyuk at 4.1k on DK, was the seventh-highest scoring, turning in 19.7 DK points. My biggest letdown of the week was the unexciting performance from Kadarius Toney. Toney was being targeted at an unsustainable rate, but nonetheless was in another smash spot this week. This was mostly because the Giants went run-first and their defense was the ones making the plays.
TIGHT ENDS
Lastly, my coverage of tight-ends. Again, Dallas Goedert was one of my favorite players on the slate and he had another bland performance, posting 7.3 DK points. As for Travis Kelce and Darren Waller, the two finished as the second and third-best tight ends. The two proved that paying up at the position can pay off.
To conclude, never consider a player a “lock” for your lineup. To avoid having down weeks in DFS, consider a wide range of players and don’t overload exposure on one player. Also, injuries happen. Players bound for big weeks can end up not producing because of in-game injuries. That is the nature of sports betting. If it were easy everyone would do it.
