2026 NFL Draft Coverage: Seth McGowan

Seth McGowan was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts, becoming the 12th running back and 237th overall player in the 2026 NFL Draft.
COLLEGE PRODUCTION

Seth McGowan stepped into a lead role at Kentucky in 2025 and handled it like a true workhorse.

He finished with 725 rushing yards on 165 carries (4.4 YPC) and 12 touchdowns, showing he could carry the load and still be a scoring threat.

The yards per carry dipped a bit compared to what you might want to see, but context matters. He was doing it in the SEC against better competition and still found the end zone consistently.

He also brought something in the passing game with a 7.7% target share, which shows he wasn’t just a two-down back. He was part of the offense in multiple ways.

Every NFL offseason seems to come with its controversies, and this year’s theme seems to be the “devaluing of the running back position”, as many NFL owners have quietly taken the stance to not pay for the running back position. We’ve seen several running backs voice their displeasure with the current running back market, and it looks like more will step up and speak out. Even the free agent running back market has screeched to a crawl. Running backs like Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, and Austin Ekeler have been highlighted this offseason as backs who have not been given what they are worth. It’s especially troubling when you consider how central they are to their respective offenses.

A much-overlooked aspect of Dynasty is value comparison, or comparing the values of Dynasty players to Redraft players and seeing which is worth more or less. You might be thinking “well, duh! Of course, older players are worth less in Dynasty than Redraft!” to which I agree. But what about Daniel Jones (QB – NYJ), who is only 25 years old? Should he be worth more in Redraft or Dynasty? Or how about Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR – DEN), who in Redraft has an ADP of WR10, but in Dynasty he’s valued as WR6. Which side more appropriately values players? In this series, which will take place over eight parts (one part for each division), I’ll be evaluating every skill position player on every team and giving my thoughts on their value, whether they are overvalued compared to Redraft or undervalued. Usually, the appropriate value will be somewhere in the middle.

Best Rookie Landing Spots

Can’t you feel the excitement as we get closer to the draft? With free agency winding down, we now start to see the core of what each of these NFL teams will look like when we get into the fall. There is still one more piece to the puzzle though and if you play dynasty then it is probably amongst your favorite NFL events of the year—the NFL Draft. While I have learned not to take too much from the landing spot, I think many of us are still hurting from Clyde Edwards-Helaire in 2020. It does have an impact though and we would be foolish to ignore it. I find the best practice is to have everyone divided into tiers before the NFL Draft, then move players within a tier instead of jumping them an entire tier based on landing spot. We also have draft capital to consider but that is beyond the scope of what we will be discussing today. Let’s dig in!

I’ll be honest, I’ve always been a HUGE Gardner Minshew fan. He came into the NFL severely underrated as a QB coming out of Mike Leach’s WSU offense where anyone could pass for 5,000 yards. However, Minshew was given his chance to play for the Jaguars, and he played well!  replaced him with generational talent Trevor Lawrence, which is understandable, but how this guy hasn’t been given another shot by a different team after what he showed is beyond me. Minshew had to step in for an injured Jalen Hurts for a couple of spot starts last year, and again, looked impressive.  Everything I’m hearing draft buzz-wise is that Indy may pass on a first-round QB and hand the reigns over to Minshew, making the mustachioed miracle an interesting buy low.

Week 5 kicks off with what should be a low-scoring matchup between two underperforming AFC teams as the Colts (1-2-1) travel to the Broncos (2-2) for Thursday Night Football. The Colts enter this contest as underdogs after losing their best offensive weapon, Jonathan Taylor, this past Sunday. On the other side, the Broncos lost their star running back, Javonte Williams, for the season, but the home-field advantage on a short week keeps them as favorites.

Welcome back to the “Fantasy Stock Up, Stock Down” series (preseason edition). We have officially made it to Week 3 of the preseason. Positional battles are ramping up.
