Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku has requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns via his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. The veteran sports agent and notorious bare-knuckles negotiator has almost certainly taken public a request made to the team shortly after another former first-rounder from the same position, Hayden Hurst demanded a trade from the Ravens to the Falcons earlier this year. Poetically and characteristically, Rosenhaus aired his demand for his client’s freedom from the league’s most unstable franchise on the eve of Independence Day. Timing is also of the essence because training camps open in a mere three weeks’ time.

Say “No” to the Veto! Ban the Trade Veto

Perhaps its fate that today is the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom, not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution — but from trade vetoes. The capability to veto trades was originally designed to prevent collusion. Collusion is defined as illegal or secret cooperation or conspiracy; especially to cheat or deceive others. The veto system allows owners to cast a vote if they feel a trade is unfair. If enough votes are cast against the trade, then it will be canceled. Let’s take a step back real quick. “If they FEEL it’s unfair”. See, that’s the thing, feelings are not facts. Feelings can be deceiving, and they don’t count for much when it comes to determining complicity.

The NFL’s big news of Carolina Day is New England’s acquisition of former Panthers QB Cam Newton. On June 28, 1776, American patriots rebuffed a British attack on Charleston harbor. The key to success was a remarkably resilient fort built of palmetto logs that repelled cannonballs. Cam Newton and his fantasy football value have been similarly under siege for nearly two years. Dynasty WR Buys: Mid-Range

The Bengals drafted Boyd with the 55th overall pick in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. In his rookie year, Boyd flashed as the number three receiver behind veterans A.J. Green and Brandon LaFell. Boyd played mostly from the slot and complemented the existing pair of outside receivers. While he wasn’t fantasy relevant, he showed enough as a rookie to provide considerable dynasty optimism going into 2017.

Amari Cooper: Not the Top-10 Receiver You Think

Amari Cooper has monopolized his team’s target share over his career. He’s seen at least 20% every season since 2015. This is something just 10 other wide receivers have accomplished. The thing is, of the wide receivers who’ve received at least 20% target share over the last three seasons, Cooper is last in average target share (20.2%). He’s received exactly 20% two of the last three seasons and it didn’t get much better in Dallas (20.7%). Cooper is dangerously close to falling below the 20%+ target share threshold. This is a benchmark almost all top-10 fantasy wide receivers reach in a given season. Brandin Cooks is the only receiver to finish in the top 10 since 2015 with below a 20% target share and he finished with 19.4%.

Recently, the DFF team and I participated in a PPR, superflex, 1.5 PPR tight end premium redraft mock. Unlike our previous mock draft breakdowns, I’m not planning to go team-by-team and discuss how much I like each roster. However, I’ll reference my team, which I drafted from the 1.05 slot, as a basis for my general thoughts. The point of this exercise was to look at quarterback value and tight end value in this format and draw conclusions about strategy. The Las Vegas Unicorn: Lynn Bowden Jr.’s Post-Draft Profile

Before the NFL Draft, I thought Lynn Bowden Jr. would be used as a slot receiver in the NFL, considering how dominant and explosive he was as a sophomore leading the Kentucky Wildcats receivers. I wrote a pre-draft profile on Bowden, highlighting his ability and potential as a pass-catcher. However, shortly after being drafted by the Raiders in the 3rd round, they have announced Bowden will be a RB. After breaking down Lynn Bowden Jr, as a pass-catcher back in January, I will now break him down as a ball carrier, and give some insight on the fantasy impact you can expect from him in 2020 and beyond.
