Against The Spread: Week 5

The Buffalo Bills have the best scoring differential in the NFL through Week 4, with a positive 90 points difference. Do not read too much into this because their last three opposing quarterbacks have been Davis Mills, Jacoby Brissett, and Taylor Heinicke. The Cardinals have the second-highest scoring differential in the NFL, with a positive 55 difference. At the other end of the spectrum, we have the Falcons, Texans, Dolphins, Jets, and Lions who all have poor scoring differentials. The scoring differential has a very strong correlation of an R-squared value of 0.79 compared to games won.

DFS Week 5

Below I am going to highlight some of the best plays for this Sunday’s main slate. I have broken these plays down by position and by “Top Price”, “Middle Price”, and “Low Price”.  Then, I list the players’ respective prices, projected points, and projected ownership in tournaments. Projected ownership is important to keep in mind for tournament plays as opposed to a regular cash play. In the “Notes,” I have given my thoughts about each player. I have also color-coded the quality level of each play. Green stands for a top-tier play, yellow is a middle-tier play, and red is a fade play.  (I only note players predicted over 8% ownership.)

Against The Spread: Week 4

The most exciting game of the week was when the Chargers traveled to Kansas City for a matchup between two of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL. Justin Herbert came out of the gates strong, building an early 14-0 lead in the first half. The comeback that was expected from Patrick Mahomes, was delivered in the third quarter with consecutive passing scores to take a 17-14 lead. The fourth quarter of this game may have been the most exciting 15 minutes of football this season.

Against the Spread: Week 3

What a week of football! It started hot with an offensive explosion between the Cardinals and Vikings highlighted by a breakout game for second-round rookie Rondale Moore. We also had a thrilling overtime game in which the Titans took down the Seahawks. Derek Carr kept rolling as he leads the NFL in passing yards, defeating the Steelers in Pittsburgh while they bracketed Waller all game. The week was capped off with a big upset by the Ravens on Sunday Night Football. Let’s take a deeper look into the details of these games, and what data points could be sticky and applied to Week 3.

DFS WEEK 3

Well, that was an unpredictable Week 2! We saw top fantasy assets completely bust and low-owned players perform at a high level. This is why you can never just assume results. A good way to prevent weekly ‘busts’ is to create multiple lineups and have exposure to a multitude of different players.

DFS Week 2 Recap

Another week of football, another week of craziness! Teams like the Dolphins put up goose eggs, Saints downgraded from an efficient week one to a disappointing week two, and the Chargers and Cowboys games were less than extravagant. With that being said, let’s see how my weekly DFS picks played out!

Against the Spread: Week 2

What a week of football! We had great primetime matchups starting with the Thursday kickoff game between the Buccaneers and the Cowboys that came down to the final drive. This competitiveness throughout the week was consistent and was capped off with a dramatic overtime finish between the Ravens and the Raiders on Monday Night Football. Let’s take a deeper look into the details of these games, and at what data points could be sticky and applied to week two.

DFS Week 1 Recap

What a crazy and unpredictable fantasy football Sunday. There were many unpredictable outcomes yesterday as Rodgers was horrible, Jameis had five touchdowns with no interceptions, and Ryan Tannehill failed to produce in an expected shootout. You can never expect the unexpected. Below, I am going to highlight my top DFS picks along with my biggest mistakes in week one.

Against The Spread: Week 1

The year is 2021 and as Charles Darwin theorized, we must adapt or die. This is a theory that we are applying to our Against the Spread series for the 2021 season. Rather than picking the lines as we did in 2020 and prior, we are going to adapt the format to bring value not just to sports gamblers, but to all fantasy football players. In this series we will look at the Sunday slate, we are going to identify key games, and provide insights on why each bet could be the wise move.  As we discover trends through the season we will be able to make more determined analyses on specific picks. To go along with matchups and trends, we will look at key fantasy players who have the most beneficial or detrimental matchups. Finally, we will provide a weekly underdog of the week as well as a potential parlay to win big.

Against the Spread: NFL Week 16

Let’s start things off with a little Christmas Day action, shall we?

The Saints are one of the most complete teams in the NFC, while the Minnesota Vikings have made Teddy Bridgewater, Mike Glennon, and even Mitchell Trubisky look like franchise quarterbacks in recent weeks. Drew Brees may have started off slow in his return from injury, but he ultimately finished with three passing touchdowns against the Chiefs. Look for the Saints to roll.

NFL Player Props: Week 15

This publication is my weekly picks against the spread, with a deep dive into three picks that I feel will provide a nice payout to bettors. In part two, I look at three player props that I feel have a strong chance of paying out. This article will run the gamut and will include bets such as ‘passing yard totals’, ‘first player to score’, and even ‘total tackles’ for those who love defense.

In addition, I will also make one “Longshot Pick of the Week”. This pick will always feature a more difficult bet that has a greater than 2:1 payout. The odds may be tougher, but if you’re into some fun player props take a peek!

Against the Spread: NFL Week 14

For the ATS (against the spread) articles, I will provide analysis on three bets that I feel have the best chance at netting you a nice payday. Whether it be due to matchups, injuries, or other factors, these are the three bets I feel the most confident in placing. I will also make predictions on the rest of the week’s spreads. We’ve hit the triple-digit mark on our overall wins and have a win % of just over 50%. We’ll look to improve on that in the weeks to come!

NFL Player Props: Week 13

Look mom, we did it! We finally overcame a mid-season slump to crawl back to .500 on the year. Somehow, we did it on the backs of two of the least exciting players out there in Nelson Agholor and Devin Singletary, but who’s complaining! We’ll look to keep the positive momentum rolling in Week 13 and finish the season out strong.
