Rookie Stock Report: Week 6

Khalil Herbert is set to be Chicago’s RB1 for Week 6 after an injury to David Montgomery and Damien Williams being placed on the Covid list. Fortunately enough Herbert has looked like a better prospect than his draft stock would indicate and has made the most of his touches. Herbert is an explosive downhill runner that is a better backup to Montgomery than Williams. If I could get him for cheap he’s a stash I’d love to have stashed on my roster.

DFS Week 5 Recap

We are officially five weeks into the 2021 NFL season and Tom Brady is still getting better! Brady currently leads the league in passing yards and is second in passing touchdowns, proving that the man simply doesn’t age. With that being said, let’s see how my weekly DFS picks played out!

Rookie Stock Report: Week 5

Kenneth Gainwell is going to be annoying for everyone, but now is not the time to sell him. The Eagles are clearly running with a two-headed approach like most of the NFL and any week can be huge with his high receiving floor and red zone usage. Gainwell is a flexy starter that will be a boom or bust option every week but the receiving work has him already ranked ahead of “starter” Miles Sanders in all formats. Sanders was a product of the old regime and it appears the new staff has more trust in Gainwell to handle two-minute drill and scoring work. Running back is too thin for you to give up a young rookie with upside.

Paul’s Picks – Week 5

In terms of percentage, Week 4 was the worst week for “Paul’s Picks” so far this season. However, I will revel in my Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith, Dawson Knox, Kirk Cousins, Damien Harris, Brandin Cooks, and Rondale Moore takes for just a moment… Okay, that’s enough–we’re on to Week 5. As always, I’ll be bringing you names at every position that I believe will exceed expectations or fall flat.

Let’s get into the picks.

DFS Week 4 Recap

Let me start by saying if you didn’t have Tyreek Hill then I feel sorry for you man! Tyreek Hill lit up the field on Sunday as he had 11 receptions for 186 yards and three touchdowns. Tyreek ended up being around 10% owned allowing those who rostered him a major money-making opportunity. With that being said, let’s see how my weekly DFS picks played out!

Rookie Stock Report: Week 4

The Chuba Hubbard lottery ticket has finally hit, and it’s time for non-CMC owners to cash in while they can. Yes, you need to cash in. Hubbard doesn’t have great vision and doesn’t have the offensive line to overcome that major flaw. Hubbard isn’t anywhere near the talent of Christian McCaffrey and desperate owners competing would more than likely pay a second-round that could turn into an actual starter.

Paul’s Picks – Week 4

I whiffed on A.J. Brown and Rondale Moore in Week 3, but Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Saquon Barkley were big hits. And if you benched Damien Harris, Devin Singletary, Laviska Shenault, Corey Davis, or Robert Tonyan, your team was probably better for it. But now we’re on to Week 3. As always, I’ll be bringing you names at every position that I believe will exceed expectations or fall flat.

Redraft Waiver Wire Grind: Week 4

We’re officially going into Week 4 which means that the waiver wire is looking like the middle of the desert; just not much there. But that doesn’t mean I stopped searching for the next productive piece you can find on the waiver wire. This week we will look at three running backs with a path to opportunity, which is all we want from our bench running backs.

Week 3 Dynasty Waiver Wire Adds

I may be a week or two late to this waiver wire add, but the Raiders seem to want Peyton Barber to be the bell cow running back while Josh Jacobs is out of the lineup. In back-to-back weeks he has had 13 carries and 23 carries. Not only is he getting carries, but he is making good use of them. He put up over 100 yards on the ground in Week 3 against a good Dolphins’ defense. Jacobs may not be fully healthy and, if he misses more time, Barber is a guy you can use in your flex. Better yet, you can try to flip him in a trade if this usage continues much longer.

2021 Projections: Carolina Panthers

The Panthers have typically been a run-heavy team in years past. This is due to them having Cam Newton and a revolving door at QB. Now that they have a stable passer in Darnold I think they will throw more often. In 2020 they had a pass to rush play ratio of 1.35 which is exactly league average. For 2021 I have them bumping up to a 1.41 ratio. As for their rush-to-pass touchdown ratio they have had a very low one of .85 in 2019 and .84 in 2020. Typically this sort of thing regresses to the league mean of 1.82, and I find it unlikely that we will see this low of a ratio again. So, for 2021 I am giving them a ratio of 1.25. Now let us look at what these trends do to the individual players.

Dynasty Sleepers 2021: RB Edition

The days of the traditional sleeper are quickly fading with a community full of hard-working analysts and tape grinders who nail down even the least known players before most of the NFL scouts can get their eyes on them. Ok, that might be a bit of an exaggeration (It’s not!) but the dynasty market is saturated with content. Therefore, most players will be given some sort of spotlight and as a result, the entire population of dynasty managers is more knowledgeable as a whole making “sleepers” much more difficult to discover and take advantage of.

DFF Draft Coverage: Chuba Hubbard to the Panthers

Chuba Hubbard profiles as more of a committee back because he seems to lack pass-catching ability. With this deficiency, his upside is capped a bit. If given the opportunity, he could jump into a 1st and 2nd down role and could be a consistent producer in a zone scheme. He has great patience, uses his blockers well, and has enough finishing speed to score long TDs.

Mike Davis: Elusive or Illusion?

Mike Davis was nothing short of exceptional in 2021 completing the year with 642 yards on 165 rushing attempts along with securing 59 of 70 targets for 373 yards and eight total touchdowns. He showed great contact balance and elusiveness all year and proved his worth and upside as a borderline elite pass-catcher. The 28-year-old career backup finished last season as the fantasy RB11 in PPR formats with the third-highest catch rate among running backs (84%) and the second-most games with five or more receptions among running backs (7).

Navigating Your Rookie Draft: 2021 Running Backs

Whether the running back position “matters” in football can be debated, and likely will continue to be debated as analytics become more commonplace, however, it cannot be argued that running backs are ultimately the lifeblood of a fantasy football roster. In this segment, we will be looking at the hit rate of rookie running backs based on the inputs of draft capital, and age. Using DLF’s trade finder tool we will look at the market value of some of the top running backs in the league. For this exercise, to stay uniform with the quarterback segment, we are using values based on superflex leagues.

Draft Stock Watch: Week 12

The Week 12 slate of games saw a pair of ranked teams fall and a handful of the top teams in the nation get taken down to the wire, only to prevail late in the game. #10 Wisconsin lost a defensive battle against conference foe #19 Northwestern and #21 Liberty saw their game-winning field goal attempt blocked in an upset loss to unranked North Carolina State. On the draft front, many prospects had stand-out games and improved their stocks. While it was difficult to select just a couple of performances to feature, we’ll now review which players increased or decreased their ranks!

Another weekend of college football is in the books, and we all got to witness a big game that finally lived up to the hype, watching Notre Dame actually come through in a big game for once. The double-overtime thriller, though, was not the only action, as we welcomed back Pac12 and MAC football this past week.  We continued to see offensive fireworks in the SEC as well. Consequently, we will sift through the Week Ten action and take a look at some of the draft stock movements for our future fantasy football stars.

Additionally, we learned that the BIG10 conference will play an abbreviated season starting at the end of October. Let’s now discuss some devy player draft stocks as a result of this week’s action.
