DFS Week 4 Recap

Let me start by saying if you didn’t have Tyreek Hill then I feel sorry for you man! Tyreek Hill lit up the field on Sunday as he had 11 receptions for 186 yards and three touchdowns. Tyreek ended up being around 10% owned allowing those who rostered him a major money-making opportunity. With that being said, let’s see how my weekly DFS picks played out!

To start, let’s look at how my quarterback ‘love’ picks performed this weekend. Sam Darnold was the highest-scoring player at the position as he continues to flourish in his new Carolina threads. He was followed by Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts who both were players I had exposure to. Taylor Heinicke also proved to be a stellar value as his $5.9K DK price tag was more than affordable as he produced 27.9 DK points. My biggest letdown at the quarterback position was Kirk Cousins who only scored 11 points. 

Next, let’s evaluate the running back plays of the week. For my ‘love’ picks I chose the top-priced Derrick Henry and he did not disappoint. Henry saw 35 touches for a total of 177 yards and a touchdown. This seemed like an obvious play when both Julio Jones and A.J. Brown were declared out. Jonathan Taylor had a great performance as well as he had 19 touches for 114 yards and a touchdown. Chuba Hubbard and D’Andre Swift proved to be my biggest letdowns as they both failed to produce more than 10 points. 

Now let’s dig into our wide receiver picks for the week. Tyreek Hill proved his crazy upside by topping 50 DK points. If you weren’t in on Tyreek this week, you missed a great opportunity for a big payout. My favorite overall option D.J. Moore was all over the field yielding eight catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Moore was by far Sam Darnold’s go-to receiver as he looked his way a team-high 12 times. To round out my top 3 receiver choices of the week, Deebo Samuel looked unstoppable for the 49ers on Sunday. Deebo caught eight of his 12 targets for 156 yards and two scores. Deebo has been electric this season and undoubtedly is the top weapon in San Francisco. This was unfortunate news for Brandon Aiyuk, who I also was high on going into the weekend, as he was overshadowed by Deebo’s performance. 

Lastly, my coverage of tight-ends. For a position that is typically top-heavy, we didn’t see any of my high-priced picks produce much. Travis Kelce fell victim to Tyreek Hills’ monster game and was only able to haul in four catches for 23 yards. Another big-named tight end in George Kittle failed to produce as he only posted four receptions on 11 targets for 40 yards. The volume was there but receptions most certainly were not. 

To conclude, never consider a player a “lock” for your lineup. To avoid having down weeks in DFS, consider a wide range of players and don’t overload exposure on one player. Also, injuries happen. Players bound for big weeks can end up not producing because of in-game injuries. That is the nature of sports betting. If it were easy everyone would do it.
