Dynasty Outlook: Travis Etienne

After being injured during the preseason of his rookie season and sitting out his entire first year, Travis Etienne (RB – JAX) had a troubled beginning to his sophomore season. After beginning the season losing touches to third-year veteran James Robinson (RB – NYJ), he finally broke out in Game 5 and following that he posted stellar rushing performances, having a notable 25-yard + rush in seemingly every game. Ending his season as RB17 and having 12 ppg vaulted his value to RB five on KTC, placing him just between Christian McCaffrey (RB – SFO) and Saquon Barkley (RB – NYG) in the RB category, and Kyler Murray (QB – ARZ) and Chris Olave (WR – NO) overall.

Trey Lance

What to Do With Trey Lance?

This article will be a small case study on QB rushing post-fractured ankles. I’m looking only at bone breaks here, as the recovery time and/or the treatments available for them have not seemed to change drastically in the last couple of decades, compared with ACL injuries, Achilles tendon injuries, or soft tissue injuries. Investigating these injuries further and how they pertain to this case study would require a medical degree, and I am simply not qualified. Another thing I will avoid looking too deeply at is future value change in relation to bone breaks, as this article would be a lot shorter if I investigated that. Spoiler alert: buy injured players – their value almost always goes back up after the initial dip, but that’s an article for another time.

How QBs Perform Their First Game Back After an Extended Leave

Many managers were very disappointed after starting Watson in the last two weeks, expecting the dynamic scrambling quarterback to return close to full form but instead receiving lackluster production. I’m sure we’ve all heard the expression “shaking off the rust,” but was it predictable how poorly Watson performed on his first couple of games back?

Desmond Ridder

Fantasy Football Fallout: Falcons Bench Mariota – Desmond Ridder Named Starter

The Falcons selected Ridder with the 10th pick of the 3rd round, making him the second quarterback selected in the 2022 NFL Draft behind Kenny Pickett. Ridder’s mid-round draft capital and middling collegiate profile leave much to be desired but his other-worldly athleticism is more than enough to warrant interest for fantasy purposes. Quarterbacks in Ridder’s tier of career trajectories rarely outperform their supposed hit rates. Managers should tread with caution when placing investments into the stock of third-round developmental prospects that could be replaced as early as the first round in the 2023 NFL draft.

Week 11 Streamers

The fantasy football playoffs are right around the corner. And if you missed out on the big waiver wire names like Justin Fields, Daniel Jones, Cole Kmet, and the Bengals’ defense but still need to stream this week, we have you covered. Today, we will feature some high-upside players, including two rookie tight ends, a mobile quarterback, a pocket-passer, and a couple of low-radar D/STs. Remember, we always provide the best players to stream at quarterback, tight end, and D/ST. Each streaming option will have ownership under 60%, according to ESPN. Below, you will find two streamers per position and a “deep stream” option (15% or lower).

State of FFPC: Dynasty Landscape & Redraft Tourneys (midseason edition)

Nevertheless, right now is a great time to look at standings and to think about who is a pretender, who is a contender and where are there mutual needs that might be met in a trade. 2023 picks are very difficult to pry away from people due to the expected high quality of that class, but now is the best time to try and grab them.

Redraft Rankings Spotlight: QBs

Rankings are fun, but they don’t always tell the whole story. In this series, I’ll take a closer look at my 2022 Redraft Rankings, providing context for a handful of players that I have ranked well above or below ADP consensus. We’ll start with the QB position. Make sure you check out my full Redraft Rankings before your draft gets underway!

Dynasty Market Sweep: Veteran TE Evaluation

Welcome to the Dynasty Market Sweep, a weekly recurring offseason article focusing on substantial value disparities in the dynasty market consensus. The very nature of the instantaneous fantasy news feed has made the dynasty market more reactionary and volatile than ever before. Once the proverbial petrol is poured and Twitter fingers snap to ignite, player values can burn to the ground overnight. Value changes of this nature cause a ripple effect across the market. For every step up the ladder, someone must move down and vice versa.

2022 Projections: Atlanta Falcons

I do not like the Falcons’ offense for fantasy, they will play slow, they will not score many touchdowns, and they will not pass the ball much. The only asset worth spending a high pick on is Kyle Pitts. I could see myself owning some Patterson, Allgeier, and Mariota though as I think they will be fairly cheap options. I do think London may be over-drafted though, given the recent rookie WR production and not thinking about how inept this offense may be. I have Mariota as a mid to high QB2, Patterson as a high RB3, Allgeier as a low RB4, London as a mid WR3, Edwards and Olamide are not on my board, and Pitts as a mid to high TE1. Hopefully, this offense is good and passes a lot in 2022 but I would not bet on it.

Fantasy Stock Up, Stock Down: Atlanta Falcons

Welcome back to the “Fantasy Stock Up, Stock Down” series (off-season edition). I don’t know if we’ve seen a crazier free agency than the one we are currently witnessing! We as Dynasty Managers need to be evaluating the off-season transactions and thinking about our roster adjustments every day. Who are we going to target in rookie drafts? Who are we going to go out and trade for? Who are we willing to give up in return? Will you go all in this season to bring home a championship? Or should you go young and prepare for the future? There’s so much to think about before September. The “off-season edition” of this series is an early look at whose stock is up and whose stock is down as we head into draft season. We will break down each NFL team one by one. Today is all about the Atlanta Falcons.

Rapid Reaction: Matt Ryan Traded to the Colts

The offseason quarterback carousel continues. Matt Ryan’s name has been synonymous with the Falcons franchise for over a decade. That time is no more. After 14 long-tenured years with the same team, Matty Ice is on the move. The Colts are acquiring the veteran services of the former NFL MVP for a third-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, per Ian Rapoport. Ryan becomes another name on the long list of quarterback changes occurring around the league. There are colossal fantasy implications for both parties involved. A transaction of this magnitude will have a lasting ripple effect throughout the 2022 season and beyond. Let’s dive in.

2021 Dynasty Profile: Darren Waller

Darren Waller burst onto the scene during the 2019 season after years of bouts with substance abuse. Waller is a true American comeback story. After being suspended for the entire 2017 by the NFL, he overcame his addictions and found his way back onto the Ravens practice squad in 2018. From there, he was plucked by the Raiders and further developed behind aging starter Jared Cook. After Cook’s departure in free agency, Waller earned the starting job at TE for the Raiders.

Soothsayers Roundtable: Quarterback Carousel

Beware of the Ides of March, the date March 15th was viewed by the Ancient Romans as a deadline for settling debts. The year was 44 BC and the Soothsayers informed the Dictator that their readings indicated death. A soothsayer is a minor priest also known as a haruspex, otherwise known for practicing animal sacrifice and reading the remnants of the body for signs from their deities. The practice of animal sacrifice is very similar to us fantasy players praying to the fantasy gods for a player they roster to get put back in for the goal line work as they fret a close competition. Back in Ancient Rome, the dictators and government generals would often consult with the Soothsayers regarding future war campaigns.

FFPC SuperFlex Startups: Crazy to Wait on QB?

SuperFlex (SF) formats have become more and more popular over the last couple of years. In the FFPC Dynasty world, 42% of all startups in 2021 have been SF. This was the going rate back in 2020 as well. Before 2020, SF only made up about 11% of the total number of dynasty leagues on their site. Now it is closer to 26% and rising. I fell in love with this format and hold 19 FFPC SF dynasty squads.

Inbound Freshmen Quarterback: Top Five

Welcome to the Thunderdome my #DFFArmy, the name’s Heady and college football signing day is FINALLY complete. Now that all of those four and five-star players have delivered their letter of intent to the college of their choice, it is time to dive into where the gunslingers of this class rank with regards to Devy leagues. Because most leagues only have three to five open roster spots, soon to be freshman quarterbacks will need to have that “it” factor to make them worthy. Lucky for you, I went out and spent the time watching their film to rank the five quarterbacks you should consider in this new 2024 class.
