The Wire: Week 12

This is the second consecutive week Wicks has made our list, but it needs to be reiterated as the rookie continues to produce while flying under the radar. As we mentioned last week, the usage has not been there (less than 50% snaps played since Christian Watson returned), but the efficiency has certainly been there. Rapid Reaction: Baker Mayfield to the Panthers

For my money, I think both Mayfield and Darnold are better than people give them credit for. Mayfield is much better, though. He played under incredibly painful and difficult conditions for most of last year with a torn labrum in his left shoulder. People that say “but who cares, it wasn’t his throwing shoulder” are people you shouldn’t listen to. He also showed a lot of improvement the year prior, in my opinion, in a season that included three monsoon-type games. Look at his splits after the weather cleared. He has 92 TDs and 56 INTs in his career so far, compared to 54 and 52, respectively, for Darnold. I think he wins the job easily and I would approach drafts with that assumption.

DFS Week 10 Recap

We’re now through Week 10 in the NFL. Things certainly haven’t gone as expected this year and this week is proof of that. The Patriots blew out the Browns, the Steelers tied the Lions, Washington topped the Buccaneers, and the Cardinals lost to the Panthers. Paul’s Picks – Week 7

I’m not going to lie, the “starts” were brutal in Week 6. Taylor Heinicke, Chase Edmonds, Kenny Gainwell, Tee Higgins, and Michael Pittman failed to provide average performances, let alone exceed expectations. I refuse to take the L on Kadarius Toney, though, who had three receptions for 36 yards before being injured in the first quarter. Unfortunately, with six more teams on a bye this week, my job won’t be getting any easier. As always, I’ll be bringing you names at every position that I believe will exceed expectations or fall flat. Let’s get into the picks. Starts: Quarterbacks Ryan Tannehill, Titans vs. Chiefs As predicted, Ryan Tannehill underperformed in a tough matchup against the Bills. However, I’m expecting a bit of a bounce-back in Week 7. The Chiefs are allowing the 2nd-most points to opposing QBs this season even after limiting Taylor Heinicke to just 10 points last week. With A.J. Brown back in the lineup, and Patrick Mahomes forcing the Titans into passing situations, I believe Tannehill can come through with his second top-12 finish of the season.   Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins vs. Falcons Tua looked good in his first game back from injury. He threw for 329 yards and two TDs against the Jaguars, finishing as the QB10 for the week. He should get DeVante Parker back in the lineup for a Week 7 matchup against the Falcons, who have been carved up by Jalen Hurts, Tom Brady, and Taylor Heinecke. He’s a solid fill-in if you have Allen, Prescott, Herbert, or Cousins on bye. Starts: Running Backs

D’Ernest Johnson is on just about every waiver wire and really showed he can produce in Chubb’s absence. Johnson took 13 carries for 95 yards and is surely in line for a similar workload going forward. Reports indicate Chubb’s MCL injury will keep him sidelined for several weeks so this isn’t just a one-week solution.

This week and every week going forward we’ll bring you several recommendations for players you should add to your dynasty rosters. We’ll mainly be targeting lower-owned guys who should be available in all but the deepest leagues. 

Dallas Goedert was placed on IR after reportedly fracturing his ankle. The Eagles run two tight end sets 59% of the time! That’s over 29% more than any other team. This isn’t even a matter of talent, but opportunity. He’s also good insurance with the injury bug going around. Rodgers caught three of four targets in Week 4 but could certainly snag a touchdown and become a viable fantasy option.

Nick Chubb Injury: Rapid Reaction

During the Browns’ Week 4 49-38 victory over the Cowboys, star running back Nick Chubb suffered an MCL injury. A Cowboys’ player rolled up on him from behind, causing the injury. At the time, Chubb was rolling, with six carries for 43 yards. Honestly, this injury must feel extremely disappointing for Chubb. He struggled through an awful ACL tear in college, which severely hurt his draft stock. However, since that injury in 2015, Chubb has remained practically completely healthy. He played every single game from 2016-2019 throughout two years at Georgia and two years in the NFL.
