Against the Spread: NFL Week 1 2020

Let’s start this year off spicy. Not only do I think the Redskins cover, I think they pull off the upset and beat the Eagles outright (+225 ML). I am firmly planting my flag that the Eagles will not be a good team this year. They have been absolutely ravaged by injuries and the season hasn’t even begun. The Eagles have lost their starting left tackle, right guard, and a whole host of receivers. Down two starters on their offensive line, who do the Eagles draw Week One? Just a Washington team boasting five first-round picks in their front seven. Couple this with the reported accuracy issues Carson Wentz is experiencing so far in camp, and I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Washington pull off the upset in this one.

Risers and Fallers: Part 4

As we approach the redraft season, I want to begin a new series of recent risers and fallers based on events happening in the fantasy football world. In each article, I’ll give you two risers and two fallers. There are many reasons that a player could move up or move down, so I’ll cover various situations throughout this article series. I’ll also include the previous entries at the bottom of this page. In this article, I’ll look at Phillip Lindsay, Preston Williams, David Montgomery, and Rob Gronkowski.

#TomBomb: Denver Broncos

What we have happening, at this very moment, is a Courtland Sutton dynasty buying window. If you are looking for the reason behind such an event, you simply have to look no further than my previous two player evaluations. The reality of the situation, currently playing itself out amongst the thin air of Denver, Colorado is an abundance of talent. Given this real-football blessing, but fantasy football-headache, we are gifted with an opportunity to cash-in on something pretty special. Now, don’t get Old Tom wrong here. I’m not about to backpedal on my love for Mr. Hamler and Mr. Jeudy. However, they’ve simply been the build-up for my greatest Denver love, Mr. Sutton. As alluded to in this twitter-take, regardless of the talent – or arguably, lack thereof – that the Broncos ran with under center in 2019, Courtland still delivered.

Noah Fant: 2020 Dynasty Profile

The Broncos drafted Fant with the 20th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, making him the second tight end selected after his Iowa teammate T.J. Hockenson. At Iowa, Fant totaled 1,013 yards and 18 touchdowns in his final two seasons. While Hockenson broke out and outproduced him in 2018, Fant still had a solid season, improving in both receptions and yards. Hockenson was the top tight end for NFL teams due to his superior blocking skills, but Fant profiled as a speedy receiving threat. Fant was a perfect prospect for the new, pass-happy NFL.

DFF Dynasty Daredevil

In this article, it’s time to look at the dynasty dynamite canisters. These are the guys that can explode in value or blow up and become nothing. I expect each of these players to do exactly that by the end of 2020. There’s no in-between, as I don’t foresee a mediocre outcome. Most of these players are on their “last chance” for dynasty owners. But, each has the upside to be a top asset.

A Redraft Journey: Melvin Gordon

In April, I started writing a series focusing on one player at a time, called “A Redraft Journey.” Like my “Dead to Me” series, I take a deep dive into a single player, breaking down their entire career in redraft fantasy football. However, unlike that series, this set of articles is meant to be more positively toned. I’m excited to get back to writing it, and I’m returning with a full breakdown of Melvin Gordon. He’s had an exciting roller-coaster ride both in the NFL and for fantasy owners, so let’s jump into it!

Phillip Lindsay: 2020 Dynasty Profile

After joining the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2018, Phillip Lindsay quickly wrestled the starting running back job away from fellow rookie Royce Freeman. Lindsay surpassed 1,000 rushing yards in each of his first two seasons while scoring 17 total TDs. In March, Phillip Lindsay’s hopes of rushing for 1,000 yards in a third straight season were effectively dashed when the Broncos signed Melvin Gordon to a 2 year, $16 million contract. Since entering the league in 2015, Melvin Gordon has functioned as an all-purpose workhorse, averaging over 16 carries per game and tallying at least 55 targets in four straight seasons. Assuming Gordon is given a similar role in Denver, the workload for Phillip Lindsay will be dramatically reduced.

Rookie Redraft Update Part 3

Back in March, I did a four-part series on the incoming rookie class. Now, it’s time to go back through my takes and examine how they’ve changed in the past few months. I’ve included all four of my original articles, and all my live post-draft takes as links at the bottom of this article. In part one, I looked at the progression of top rookie quarterbacks from March until now. Then, in part two, I covered how the consensus top-three running backs pre-NFL Draft have progressed in redraft value. Now, it’s time for part three and a mix of two running backs and two wide receivers. Let’s jump into these four exciting players!

Dynasty WR Buys: Buy Highs

I’m back to the dynasty side of writing with a brand-new series on dynasty buys at the wide receiver position. In this series, we’re going to look at three groups of three players: the buy-highs, the underrated, mid-range veterans, and the deep dives. Let’s start with three buy-high players. These guys are all already expensive in dynasty leagues, but I believe that you should pay the premium cost, as they have room to grow even further in value over the next year.

Redraft Team Focus: Denver Broncos

n this article series, I’m analyzing every one of the 32 NFL teams and all of their redraft-relevant fantasy assets. It’s a long project, but I want to make sure that you, the reader, have something you can refer to for every team. For each article, I’ll split up the fantasy assets into three categories: high-end assets, usable contributors, and dart throws. Let’s jump into the Broncos.
