7 – Games it took the Raiders to match the 2018 season’s sack total of 13. Benson Mayowa has led the way with 5.5 sacks. Fourth-round rookie Maxx Crosby and Maurice Hurst each have 2.0 sacks. First-round rookie Clellin Ferrel, Arden Key, and Jonathan Hankins each have 1.0 sack. PJ Hall has 0.5 sacks. Amazingly, there are five teams with fewer sacks on the season.
Week 8 of the NFL season is in the books. Yes, you read that correctly. After an agonizingly long off-season, we are past the halfway mark of the fantasy football regular season (assuming your playoffs start in Week 14*). That means it is time to objectively evaluate our rosters, and scrutinize each position group with …

This week Connor Horsfield (@Conmans_Content) will guide you through the depths of the redraft waiver wire, featuring all of the best pick-ups and who to leave hanging on the wire. We will identify the guys you should be able to plug into your starting lineup without hesitation, as well as some bench stashes who could become starters in the coming weeks.
14 – Total tackles by Budda Baker. Since DJ Swearinger Sr. was released, Baker has moved back to SS while the two Thompsons took over FS. The two Thompson dynamic is fluid, making both impossible to trust. Fifth-round rookie Deionte Thompson dropped from 90% of snaps in Week 7 to 43% in Week 8. Supplemental draft rookie Jalen Thompson jumped from 10% of snaps in Week 7 to 53% in Week 8.

Sam Darnold (NYJ) at Dolphins, 15.2% owned. As usual, picking on the Dolphins’ defense is a good move for any of the offensive players facing them. Even though Darnold threw three interceptions against the Jaguars in week 8, he went 21/30 passing for 218 yards and two touchdowns. Darnold could represent a strong streaming value not just in this matchup but for the next six weeks. In those games, he faces the Dolphins, Giants, Redskins, Raiders, Bengals, and Dolphins again. Each of those defenses has been terrible all season, so picking up Darnold could solve your quarterback problem for the rest of the fantasy regular season. Considering how awful the Dolphins have been and that more of their defensive players could be traded by Tuesday’s trade deadline, I will rank Darnold as a borderline QB1 in this matchup.
After Week 8 had just two teams on bye, Week 9 sees four teams with the week off. The Cincinnati Bengals, Atlanta Falcons, Los Angeles Rams, and New Orleans Saints are all off this week along with some high powered fantasy assets. This week’s waiver wire isn’t the strongest so you may want to be a bit frugal. If you don’t have any pressing needs this would be a good week to hold on to your FAAB bucks or your waiver priority. There are some deeper options though if you’re in need. Let’s get to it.

The promising rookie looks to be set for a return from IR soon, as he is back at practice. I wouldn’t look for him to take the starting role from Jimmy Graham any time in the near future, but if you need a nice flier at the position, now would be the last time to pick him up before playing time increases his price.
Russell Wilson ($7,200) is strictly a GPP play for me on DraftKings this week, priced all the way up to $7,200. He should smash against an Atlanta defense that ranks at or near the bottom of the league in just about every meaningful defensive statistic. The issue here is Atlanta’s ability to stay in this game, which is highly correlated with the health of Matt Ryan, who left in the second half of Week 7 with an ankle injury. While the Seahawks have some problems in the secondary, they do a good job of putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks, which is less than ideal given the Falcons porous offensive line. With Matt Schaub under center, it’s unlikely that the Falcons can hang offensively, and even with a limited Ryan, you need Atlanta to put up an offensive showing in order to force Wilson into the kind of game script his price tag requires.

The Patriots have been in the market for a receiver. Still, the move came as a bit of a shocker, mainly due to the Patriots giving up what most consider precious draft capital. Even if Belichick disagrees. The acquisition makes more sense after learning wide receiver Josh Gordon is being placed on the IR due to two severe bone bruises in his knee. Ian Rapoport reports the team will be moving on, and his time in New England is over. It appears the Patriots were aware of the injury before the trade, making the Sanu addition a virtual necessity.
