ShipChaser’s Top 10 Lessons From Poker To Apply In Fantasy Football #1-5

The game of poker, and more specifically No-Limit Texas Hold โ€˜Em, offers many lessons and insights that can be applied in fantasy football. I have occasionally considered myself a professional poker player at various times over the last ~20 years, which is to say that I have occasionally had a big enough victory to have to report it. I have cashed twice at bracelet events of the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, Nevada. I played a lot of online poker in the heyday of the internet poker boom in the mid to late 2000s. I believe I have played perhaps as many as two million hands in my life to this point. There was a time that I tracked it but I donโ€™t really care anymore. At least Iโ€™m on the all-time leaderboard.

2022 Projections: Indianapolis Colts

When we loosely compare players, most people feel they have a good idea of what kind of production to expect. We may think โ€œJonathan Taylor is easily the RB1 overall this season with the upgrade to Matt Ryan from Carson Wentz.โ€ These are the sort of questions I look to answer with my process. I make projections to ground myself and to help understand what is possible, probable, or realistic. So, in this series, I will be going through each NFL team and making median projections for their 2022 seasons with their most fantasy-relevant players. I may be able to discern if certain players are being undervalued immediately but in most cases, I will need to finish more teams to get a good idea.ย

2022 Projections: Houston Texans

When we loosely compare players, most people feel they have a good idea of what kind of production to expect. Dynasty Etiquette: Leaving Your Dynasty League

Dynasty football etiquette is like an unwritten code of polite behavior that reflects a common courtesy to your fellow competitor. The unspoken nature of this community code can cause conflict within your leagues when silent expectations fall short. One of the many catalysts to league dysfunction is caused by managers departing an already-made roster, leaving a captainless ship for the remaining constituents to deal with. Vacating a dynasty league after signing up for a multi-year commitment can cause understandable frustrations. Nevertheless, sometimes a departure is necessary. Leaving a league should not be viewed as a disrespectful act if you approach the process with clear intentions. It would be best if you never quit a league blindly without notification. There are much more courteous ways to do so. Letโ€™s dive into the Dynasty Etiquette of Leaving Your Dynasty League and answer some of the common scenarios in question.

ShipChaser’s Top 10 Lessons From Poker To Apply In Fantasy Football #6-10

If you run really bad at poker one night, chances are youโ€™ll do better the next night. Even within one long session, if you play your cards right, more times than not you will see variance begin to swing in your favor. In dynasty fantasy football, playing your cards right might mean it takes a couple of seasons before variance fully swings around. Even redraft is a remarkably slower timescale in terms of payout turnaround than poker, where you can get paid daily. Did I say โ€˜dailyโ€™? There is a reason daily FF has exploded and it has everything to do with variance and getting paid off quickly, not once every twelve months.ย

2022 Projections: Green Bay Packers

When we loosely compare players, most people feel they have a good idea of what kind of production to expect. We may think โ€œAaron Rodgers is one of the best QBs in the NFL, surely he is still an elite fantasy option without Davante Adams.โ€ But, these may just be unrealistic goals to set even for a player of Rodgersโ€™ caliber, with the weapons he has. I make projections to ground myself and help to understand what is actually possible, probable, or realistic. Jameson Williams: 2022 Dynasty Profile

Jameson Williams was a four-star prospect out of St. Louis, MO who broke Ezekiel Elliottโ€™s 300-meter hurdle state record in high school. He starred both on the football field and the track and after a difficult decision between Alabama, Oregon, and Ohio State, eventually committed to the Buckeyes. Williams played sparingly as a reserve and special-teamer during his true freshman season. Williams started six games in 2020 but caught just nine passes for 154 yards and two scores as the fourth option in a loaded wide receiver depth chart that included Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Chris Olave, and Garrett Wilson at the time.

Four Devy RBs That Will Increase in Value

Nicholas Singleton comes into Penn State already equipped with an NFL build at 6โ€™0โ€ 210 lbs. and the data shows we can expect RBs to gain anywhere from 10-15 lbs. in college. When the time that he is draft eligible comes, he will have prototypical workhorse size. One of his best attributes is his burst through the line of scrimmage and his effortless lateral agility without decelerating to make defenders miss while still keeping that top-end speed.

John Metchie III: 2022 Dynasty Profile

A four-star high school recruit who was born in Taiwan, moved to Ghana, and later emigrated to Canada, John Metchie III played his high school ball in the state of Maryland. He logged some game time as a freshman at Alabama, but behind so many NFL talents at WR he didnโ€™t log enough snaps to impress statistically. In 2020 he filled in for an injured Jaylen Waddle and recorded his breakout season. This past season, he earned second-team All-SEC honors with a team-high 96 receptions before suffering a torn ACL in the conference title game and missing the teamโ€™s playoff run.

2022 Projections: Dallas Cowboys

When we loosely compare players, most people feel they have a good idea of what kind of production to expect. Dynasty Market Sweep: Veteran WR Evaluation Part 2

Welcome to the Dynasty Market Sweep, a weekly recurring offseason article focusing on substantial value disparities in the dynasty market consensus. The very nature of the instantaneous fantasy news feed has made the dynasty market more reactionary and volatile than ever before. Once the proverbial petrol is poured, and Twitter fingers snap to ignite, player values can burn to the ground overnight. Value changes of this nature cause a ripple effect across the market. For every step up the ladder, someone must move down and vice versa.
