In this weekly piece, I will bring you some risers and fallers from a dynasty lens. Whether it’s injuries, performance, or value, I want to discuss how players have moved around. Based on the week’s events, I’ll give some advice on how to act on the market’s movement, whether it’s buying, selling, or holding. 

I won’t limit myself to talking about any specific players or teams because I want to have the freedom to discuss whatever is most relevant. Also, of course, there are more risers and fallers than those I’m listing. However, it’s impossible to cover every single one of them, as dynasty values change weekly for many players. Week 2 Buy/Sell

Can we have a redo on week two? That was B-R-U-T-A-L! We lost Saquon and Courtland Sutton for the year, and CMC for weeks. Week one waiver wire darling Parris will miss time with a PCL injury. Will Fuller (of course) and Davante Adams are dealing with hamstring issues. Raheem Mostert took it 80 yards to the house with his first carry and then proceeded to sprain his MCL. Who did I miss? It seemed as if fantasy managers were taking one punch to the gut after another on Sunday. Whether or not you survived the injury onslaught in week two, your team could probably use some tinkering. Joe’s 2020 DFF Redraft Championship Draft

Recently, the DFF crew gathered for our annual redraft championship league. We took part in a 17-round PPR draft, with 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 2 Flex, 1 TE, 1 D/ST as starters, and a 7-player bench. A bunch of us hopped on Zoom because there’s nothing better than seeing the face of the person you just sniped a pick from. I drafted from the 10 spot and was faced with the brutal task of picking next to our lead Redraft Ranker, @DFF_Karp. Let’s take a look at how my team came out!

You know, it never fails to leave Old Tom speechless every time I venture back to different draft classes and re-examine the selections. In 2017, for example, amongst WRs so many were so sure that the Titans, Chargers, and Bengals struck gold with their top-10 WR. Now, to each individual’s credit, while they may not have matched or exceeded expectations. But, they are still participating… and at relatively high levels from time to time. However, when you come off the board at 5, 7, & 9 respectively, the football community simply expects so much more. With that said, let’s talk about that #9 selection out of the University of Washington. Mr. John Ellis Ross III. You know, that 5’11 194lb burner that set the unofficial record with his 4.22-second forty-yard dash. Ya, that guy.

In April, I started writing a series focusing on one player at a time, called “A Redraft Journey.” I wrote about Austin Ekeler, Allen Robinson, and recently about Melvin Gordon. I love writing about redraft, but I realized that I could bring this style over to dynasty. In a dynasty story, I’ll look more at dynasty value and how a player has fluctuated over time, primarily based on news or events. Then, I’ll give a dynasty take on their future value and whether dynasty owners should buy or sell the player going forward. Let’s jump into Mike Williams, the subject of my first dynasty story.

James Conner: 2020 Dynasty Profile

James Conner was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 3rd round of the 2017 NFL draft. He was quiet in his rookie season. But, when Le’Veon Bell held out in 2018, James Conner broke out in a big way. He finished as the RB6 with over 1,400 total yards, 55 receptions, and 13 TDs. Conner dealt with multiple injuries in 2019, appearing in just 10 games. His efficiency regressed as the Steelers offense crumbled in the absence of Ben Roethlisberger, but he still finished as the RB17 in PPR PPG.

Redraft Team Focus: Bengals

Green comes with numerous question marks. However, let’s not forget how successful Green has been as a fantasy asset when healthy and on the field despite playing with mediocre quarterback Andy Dalton. In 2018, Green was the WR8 in Weeks 1-8, averaging 18.5 PPG. He caught 45 of 76 targets for 687 yards and six touchdowns, which would have paced for 90 receptions, 152 targets, 1,374 yards, and 12 touchdowns over a full season.
