Jarvis Landry: 2020 Dynasty Profile

Jarvis Landry was the WR21 in fantasy points per game in a season where Baker Mayfield experienced a decreased yards-per-attempt, completion rate, and touchdown rate. All signs point toward Mayfield taking a step forward this season and the Browns being a much more efficient offense in general. Expect the offense to still run through Landry and the run game, with Odell Beckham providing the electric plays. All contending fantasy teams should be trading for Landry with a WR2 floor and low WR1 upside.

Sleeper Series: Allen Lazard

After writing my redraft team breakdown series, I decided to start a new series as we approach the 2020 fantasy season. Every week, or probably more often than that, I’m going to bring you one fantasy sleeper representing a massive value in 2020 redraft leagues. All the links to previous articles are at the bottom of the article. In the first article, I detailed my methodology behind this series, so go back and read that piece if you haven’t yet! Now, I want to take a look at Jamison Crowder. My friend @DocFFN recently wrote a free dynasty profile on Crowder, but I wanted to look at Crowder’s redraft prospects. I also wanted to take more of a long-form approach, as the dynasty free profiles are quick-hitters. Anyway, Crowder might play for the hapless Jets, but I think he deserves some attention as a sleeper for 2020 PPR redraft leagues. Deebo Samuel: 2020 Dynasty Profile

I believe that now is the perfect time to strike and acquire shares of Samuel in your dynasty league. Once he returns to the lineup and demonstrates that he’s healthy, his price will rise. This Jones fracture is a short-term injury, and it shouldn’t dramatically decrease Samuel’s value. Even so, dynasty owners tend to overreact, and I’ve noticed a drop in Samuel’s trade value and his ADP.  Buy on that dip, because this injury is a blip on the long-term radar. Samuel is only 24 years old and he has his whole career ahead of him. Most rookie wide receivers don’t show half of what Samuel showed in his rookie year, and this is a chance to get in on a stellar dynasty asset at his basement value.

Travis Kelce: 2020 Dynasty Profile

Dynasty owners don’t want to invest in Kelce at his current cost of a third-round startup pick and the dynasty TE2. However, if you’re a contender, Kelce is worth far more to your team than what you could recoup for him in a trade. He’s tied to Mahomes for the foreseeable future, although his contract does expire after 2021.  I expect the Chiefs to retain Kelce throughout his career, though, as he’s Mahomes’ favorite weapon. Tight ends can produce into their mid-to-late 30s, and I don’t see any reason why Kelce won’t be a part of that group. If you sold Tony Gonzalez in dynasty leagues before his age-31 season, you would have been very sorry, and I believe Kelce is the same type of transcendent player. Therefore, I wouldn’t seek to trade him off my roster unless I’m in a deep and long-term rebuild.

Jamison Crowder: 2020 Dynasty Profile

It never ceases to amaze me that the majority of people will continue to buy “brand names” items, regardless of the price. This holds true in nearly all facets of society and even extends to fantasy football. Jamison Crowder is not a brand name item. Crowder played in all 16 games last season, starting 12. He led the Jets in targets (122), catches (78), receiving yards (833), and receiving touchdowns (6). Crowder was also quarterback Sam Darnold’s favorite receiver and served as his reliable safety net time and time again.

UDFA Unraveled: WRs

As the post-draft hype begins to fade and teams start looking for any asset on the waiver wire that they believe can help bolster their roster, everyone is looking for that next edge. In a recent argument on @TaleofTwoRivals, we bantered quickly about the value of UDFAs in a dynasty league but reached no real conclusion. I began to think of who can be this year’s Preston Williams. Who can take the mantle of Tony Romo, Arian Foster, and a few others and carry a team to the next level? Who can you buy low on? Who might be on the waiver wire? What follows is a case study of UDFAs who have finished in the top 24 of their position in a fantasy season, how their team responded to that success (were replaced via free agency, the draft, etc.) and what happened in the following year.

Tyler Lockett: 2020 Dynasty Profile

Tyler Lockett finally stepped into the number one wideout role for the Seattle Seahawks in 2019 and produced elite numbers when he was healthy. In 2019, Lockett played in over 90% of the offensive snaps in 8 of his first 9 games. After he was hospitalized during week 10 against the 49ers, he was only able to hit 90% of offensive snaps again one time the rest of the way. Prior to the injury, Lockett had amassed 767 yards and 6 scores through 9 weeks. In the 7 weeks after, and including the game he was injured in, he only gained 290 yards and 2 scores. In those first 9 weeks, Lockett was the third-best wide receiver in fantasy.

D.J. Chark: 2020 Dynasty Profile

When the Jacksonville Jaguars selected D.J. Chark in the 2nd round of the 2018 NFL Draft, they knew they were getting, if nothing else, a truly special athlete: an outside receiver standing 6’ 3” tall, with 4.3 speed and a 93rd percentile burst score. After Chark’s disappointing rookie season, in which he accumulated just 14 receptions in 11 games, many wrote him off as another combine warrior in the same vein as Breshad Perriman. In 2019 however, D.J. Chark broke out, turning 117 targets into over 1,000 receiving yards and 8 TDs and finishing as the WR17.

The famous saying “you can’t win your league on draft day, but you can lose it” is one that I remind myself of every year. Draft day is the most important day of the year on any fantasy football player’s calendar as stakes are high and one bad decision can unravel an entire offseason of hard work. Dynasty WR Buys: Mid Range Part 3

I’m back to the dynasty side of writing with a series on veteran dynasty buys at the wide receiver position. I started off looking at three buy-high receivers. Then, I moved into the mid-range of dynasty value, beginning with a detailed dive into Tyler Boyd and Michael Gallup. As I referenced in that piece, I believe that the mid-range of dynasty WRs is a value goldmine with so many undervalued players in that group. It’s such a deep and wonderful group that I needed to discuss two further players, Jarvis Landry and Christian Kirk. Now, I want to go into two more players in Brandin Cooks and N’Keal Harry. This area of dynasty drafts and value is the best way to exploit the current dynasty market. I’m currently recommending the strategy of grabbing early running backs in dynasty startups since there’s so much wide receiver value later on. On that note, I have two more mid-range players that are also excellent dynasty buys. Let’s jump into them! Brandin Cooks Brandin Cooks has a track record of fantasy success. Until 2019, he was a top fantasy receiver, providing constant value for his dynasty owners. Even though Cooks has bounced around teams, he’s found success everywhere he’s gone. Van Jefferson is not on anyone’s fantasy radar coming into drafts this season. Quietly selected in the second round of the 2020 draft, Jefferson walks into his rookie season with one of the best offensive schemes in the NFL. Other highly drafted prospects like Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Pittman are getting the majority of the attention from the fantasy community. However, I believe Van Jefferson may be the most underrated and unheralded rookie of the 2020 class, and someone that could bring you sneaky value this upcoming fantasy season.

Stefon Diggs is an Underrated Dynasty Asset

We’ve established that Diggs has the talent and opportunity to lead the Bills receivers next year. We’ve also established that Diggs has a track record of being consistently fantasy-relevant over the past four years. He’s only 26 years old. He’s now the clear number one option after leaving Minneapolis, where he competed with Adam Theilen for targets. If Diggs firmly grasps that number one role, a 1,000 yard, 8 touchdown season may only be a floor. Things are lining up better than most are expecting for Diggs to have his biggest season yet. With his ADP dropping, now is the time to get Stefon Diggs. He’s the perfect player to seek out for a middle of the road team looking to take that next step or a contender looking to put themselves over the top!

Deebo Samuel: Injury Reaction

Referred to as a Jones fracture, Deebo fractured part of his fifth metatarsal and will be requiring surgery. According to @FBInjuryDoc on Twitter, the recovery time for this injury is likely 8-12 weeks–with 10 weeks being the preferred timetable. This 10-week timetable theoretically puts Samuel on track to be ready for week 1, assuming no setbacks. Trent Taylor, Deebo’s teammate, endured the same injury last year. While Taylor was expected to be back in under 8 weeks until he required a second surgery. Unfortunately, this second surgery caused an infection causing Taylor to miss the entire 2019 season. Let us hope there are no complications and Samuel can return to the field ASAP.

Marquise Goodwin to the Eagles

Recently, the Eagles have made a bunch of transactions to overhaul their wide receiver room, including a trade for Marquise Goodwin. While I might cover the 49ers’ receiver situation in another piece, I think that most dynasty owners had already assumed that Goodwin was on his way out there. Kansas City Chiefs: WR Re-Signings

In this piece, we’re going to take a deep dive into the Kansas City wide receiver room. In 2019, the Chiefs had four relevant receivers: Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins, Mecole Hardman, and Demarcus Robinson.
