Week 9 Dynasty Waiver Wire

Hello DFF members, my name is Chris and this year I will be writing the weekly dynasty waiver adds piece. In this article I will be writing about players that I feel should be owned in much higher quantities in your dynasty leagues. I will try to stick to low ownership percentages, around 30% or less, but if there is a guy above that, who I think should be owned significantly more, I will include them as well. I will be focusing on a 12-team, full PPR, Superflex set-up for these articles but the players I am choosing should apply in 10-team leagues as well. Without further ado, let’s get into the waiver adds.

Redraft Values: Part One

Fantasy Stock Up, Stock Down: NFC North

Welcome back to the “Fantasy Stock Up, Stock Down” series (Preseason Edition). Training Camp battles are ramping up. Teams are preparing for their Preseason matchups. And injuries are opening up opportunities for players looking to earn significant roles and/or roster spots. The time to be the most active in Dynasty Leagues is NOW. We are going to hear “hype” reports from beat reporters. And we are going to hear some reports that make us feel a little uneasy about our player investments. Us Dynasty Managers must constantly research ways to bolster our rosters. In this continuation series, we will dive deep into one player whose dynasty stock is increasing and one player whose dynasty stock is decreasing from each team in every division. Today, we will break down the NFL North.

Rapid Reaction: Chicago Trades for N’Keal Harry

It’s not a surprise that New England has decided to move on from their 2019 first-round selection, N’Keal Harry. Per Ian Rapoport, the Bears traded for the three-year pro in exchange for a 2024 7th-round pick. At first glance, this makes sense for everyone involved. The Patriots finally get to move on from selecting Harry over names like Deebo Samuel, A.J. Brown, D.K. Metcalf, Diontae Johnson, and Terry McLaurin. The Bears take a chance on a high-upside player on a one-year rental. And Harry gets a fresh start in a new location to prove his worth. Who loses in this situation? Let’s dig deep into what we can expect from Chicago’s pass-catchers this season as a result of this trade.

Brandon Aiyuk: 2021 Dynasty Profile

Brandon Aiyuk began his collegiate football career at Sierra College, a community college in California. After a strong sophomore season, Aiyuk transferred to Arizona State. As a junior, Aiyuk underwhelmed alongside future first-round pick N’Keal Harry. But he blew up as a senior, recording a 40.6% dominator rating (81st percentile) with 65 receptions for 1,192 yards and eight TDs. Aiyuk was also incredibly dynamic at Arizona State, contributing on special teams as both a kick and punt returner.

Dynasty Risers and Fallers Week 11

Dynasty Risers and Fallers Week 11

In this weekly piece, I will bring you some risers and fallers from a dynasty lens. Whether it’s injuries, performance, or value, I want to discuss how players have moved around. Based on the week’s events, I’ll give some advice on how to act on the market’s movement, whether it’s buying, selling, or holding. I won’t limit myself to talking about any specific players or teams because I want to have the freedom to discuss whatever is most relevant. Also, of course, there are more risers and fallers than those I’m listing. However, it’s impossible to cover every single one of them, as dynasty values change weekly for many players. With that said, let’s jump into the risers first, followed by the fallers.

Adjusting the Lens Without Cam

As fantasy players, we understand the risk behind playing each year, and if you participated this year the inherent risk was even larger. It’s exactly what most fantasy analysts predicted, a rough uphill climb to a championship. It may seem like players are being injured more frequently this season, but this was expected due to a lack of offseason preparation. Players’ unexpected absences from games were also expected, and hopefully, you followed fantasy advice from across the industry about adding IR and extra bench spots for just this scenario.

dynasty sleeper of the week

Dynasty Sleeper of the Week: Jakobi Meyers

For Week 1, we will start with a player that has had very little news about him in the last few weeks. He is a Patriot and part of a much-maligned receiving core. We are searching for some value in the margins, and this Patriot offense is as much up in the air as anything at this point. Who Cam Newton targets after Julian Edelman and N’Keal Harry is a giant question mark.

Sleeper Series: N’Keal Harry

After writing my redraft team breakdown series, I decided to start a new series as we approach the 2020 fantasy season. Every week, or probably more often than that, I’m going to bring you one fantasy sleeper representing a massive value in 2020 redraft leagues. All the links to previous articles are at the bottom of the article. In the first article, I detailed my methodology behind this series, so go back and read that piece if you haven’t yet! Now, it’s time for another wide receiver, this time a second-year player, N’Keal Harry. The Patriots recently released veteran Mohamed Sanu, which caused me to think of Harry and his potential opportunity in 2020. I mentioned that Sanu could be a cap casualty in April, but it’s interesting to see the Patriots make a move so close to the start of the season. Let’s dive into what Sanu’s release means for Harry as a sleeper.

fantasy owners for now

Holding Pattern: Guys I’m Hanging Onto… For Now

Devin Singletary had some impressive moments in his 2019 rookie campaign. He also spent some time on the bench with a lingering hamstring injury. After starting his season with limited opportunities, Singletary was trusted with 20 carries in week nine. He made the most of that opportunity, finishing as the sixth-best running back that week with 140 rushing yards and 38 yards receiving and added a touchdown. From weeks 11-16, Singletary averaged 17.16 rushes per game and 77.66 rushing yards per game, averaging 4.52 yards per attempt. Not too shabby.

Diontae Johnson: 2020 Dynasty Profile

At Johnson’s current value, he likely represents a dynasty sell. I’m a firm believer in a bounce-back season for Smith-Schuster, and I expect the Steelers to reach a long-term agreement with him. I don’t see Johnson as having the same ceiling as some other players in his value range, such as Christian Kirk, Mecole Hardman, N’Keal Harry, or Tee Higgins. For those reasons, I’d float Johnson in trade talks if I had him on one of my dynasty teams.

Dead to Me: Emmanuel Sanders

Dead to Me: Emmanuel Sanders

The shovel is back! My favorite article series returns once again. If you don’t already know, I figuratively bury fantasy players and their redraft stock. You can find all my previous work in this series at the bottom of the page. Unfortunately, the grim reaper has come for Emmanuel Sanders. He’s had a great career, but his time is up. Also, to jump out in front of the potential backlash, I want to make sure you don’t hear what I’m not saying in this article. Sanders was an exceptional real-life and fantasy wide receiver for many years. He had a stellar NFL career and deserves nothing but praise for his perseverance.

DFF Army PPR Redraft Mock Draft Review

Every few weeks, the Dynasty Football Factory team gathers its sharpest minds to put together a no time limit mock draft. Throughout the year the type of mock changes quite a bit. At the beginning of the year, it’s a lot of dynasty startups and rookie drafts. Now that it’s summer, the focus switches to redraft.

Redraft Team Focus: Patriots

I’m analyzing every one of the 32 NFL teams and all of their redraft-relevant fantasy assets in this article series. It’s a long project, but I want to make sure that you, the reader, have something you can refer to for every team. For each article, I’ll split up the fantasy assets into three categories: high-end assets, usable contributors, and dart throws. Let’s jump into the Patriots.

Marqise Lee and the Patriots WRs

In my previous offseason reaction articles, I’ve looked at a variety of offseason moves and how they relate to dynasty formats. The full list of links is at the bottom of the article. While this move isn’t the most exciting or flashy transaction, it’s still important to look at the Patriots’ WR depth chart and see how their offseason signings, including Marqise Lee, impact it.

N’Keal Harry: Player Profile

Coming out of college, NFL.com had Harry as a guy that would win contested catch opportunities outside the numbers, could body up opponents, and win with ball skills. Looking back at Harry’s 12 catches, these traits stick out. Harry only played seven games. Even in limited games, he wasn’t targeted nearly enough to be a factor in the New England offense last season.

Rookie WR Hits & Misses Part 1

Now, we’re on to part four of this seven-part series about the 2019 rookies. Previously, I’ve talked about QBs, RBs part 1, and RBs part 2. Now, it’s time to get into the wide receivers, which I will split into three parts. There are simply so many receivers that either had high rookie draft capital or achieved fantasy relevance in 2019. For part one, I’ll take a look at four receivers that were all first-round picks in a majority of rookie drafts. These are my rankings from late May 2019:

Sophomore Breakout Series: WR

While most look towards the incoming rookie classes, I like to look at players that are already showing signs of production in the league. We’ve all had those rookies that didn’t pan out, and maybe you cut bait on them a little early, only to see them become a valuable asset later on. This series will attempt to identify those players.

Future WR Stars

Two statistical measurements are quickly growing in popularity among fantasy football analysts – Dominator Rating and Breakout Age. Essentially, these two variables tell us how productive a player was in college at their peak, and how old they were when that (hopefully) high level of production occurred. As I have become more comfortable working these numbers, I began to draw comparisons between established NFL players and incoming rookies with similar Dominator Ratings and Breakout Ages.According to PlayerProfiler, an incoming player with a Dominator Rating greater than 45% and a Breakout Age less than 19 years old is phenomenal. For the sake of this article, I am using a Dominator Rating of greater than 40% and a Breakout Age of younger than 20 years old for my comparative research on wide receivers. To filter out those rookies who produced immediately upon entering the league, I am using 600 yards receiving as a rookie and draft capital inside of Day 2 (Rounds 1-3) as my final cut off variable.Since 2010, there have been nine players who have met the cutoff of having a Dominator Rating of 40% or greater, a Breakout Age of less than 20 years old, who had at least 600 receiving yards their rookie year and were drafted in Rounds 1-3.
