In Superflex leagues, your quarterback room is absolutely vital. It can make or break your season. In 2024, 59 signal-callers started at least one NFL game. In 2025, that number grew to 63. Every year, more and more, we’re seeing Dynasty contenders have their campaigns derailed by injuries or benchings. Having a stash of QBs at your disposal could help you get through those rough patches. The reality is a backup QB who gets even a start or two is almost always more useful — and valuable — than a WR9 or TE5 rotting away on your bench. You can either plug them into your lineup as needed or flip them for picks or an upgrade at another position. Those fringe skill players will rarely ever crack your lineup. Get those roster cloggers out of there. Instead of keeping them, use those precious spots on backup QBs who can become instant difference-makers should they get thrust into a starting gig. The date was December 2, 2017. West Virginians descended on Wheeling Island Stadium for the Class AAA state championship game. Defending state champion Martinsburg was set to take on Spring Valley. Led by quarterback Tyson Bagent, Martinsburg had won 27 straight games. Bagent threw for 232 yards leading Martinsburg to a 44-16 victory and its second straight state title. The Bulldogs finished the year ranked No. 19 in USA Today’s Super 25 national high school football rankings. Bagent finished the season with 3,199 yards, and 41 touchdowns and ran for eight more. He had an impressive 72% completion rate and would go on to win the Gatorade State Player of the Year award.

In case you missed it this past weekend, Colorado traveled to Fort Worth to take on a ranked TCU team. The result was a 45-42 victory in a game that could end up being one of the best of the year in college football. Deion Sanders making the jump from Jackson State to Colorado has placed the Buffaloes firmly in the national spotlight, and he brought some fantastic football players with him. Another week of preseason means another week of preseason overreactions. Twitter was full of highlights and discussions about who ran with which group during the games and who had the night off. Amongst all this, we must figure out what is an overreaction and what is real. We could go through many more players than the ones here.
