Carolina Panthers: Possible WRs to Target in 2024

Finishing dead last in the NFL was surely not what the Panthers’ front office had in mind when they gave up a fortune to draft Bryce Young in the 2023 NFL Draft. They gave up D.J. Moore, a first and second-round pick in 2023, a first-round pick in 2024, and a second-round pick in 2025. Unsurprisingly, this disaster of a season resulted in the firing of HC Frank Reich and GM Scott Fitterer. Now, newly hired HC Dave Canales looks to try and turn this ship around and bring some hope back to Panthers’ fans.

Christian Watson: 2023 Dynasty Profile

Being a late bloomer, Watson was not heavily recruited in high school. He graduated at 6’2″, growing another two inches in college. Watson had a significant growth spurt between his junior and senior seasons, gaining 20 lbs. Because of this, he didn’t get significant playing time until his senior year, where he posted modest numbers of 23 receptions, 393 yards, and eight TDs. North Dakota State offered Watson a scholarship, and Watson stayed in the FCS program for all four years. His most impressive campaign was his senior season, posting 43 receptions, 801 yards, and 7 TDs. As a senior, he also tacked on 15 rush attempts for 114 yards and one TD. Watson was consistently used in the running game for the Bisons since his sophomore season.

Comparing ADP, Dynasty to Redraft: NFC South

A much-overlooked aspect of Dynasty is value comparison, or comparing the values of Dynasty players to Redraft players and seeing which is worth more or less. You might be thinking, “Well, duh! Of course, older players are worth less in Dynasty than Redraft!” to which I agree. But what about Daniel Jones (QB – NYJ), who is only 25 years old? Should he be worth more in Redraft or Dynasty? Or how about Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR – DEN), who in Redraft has an ADP of WR10, but in Dynasty, he’s valued as WR6. Which side more appropriately values players? In this series, which will take place over eight parts (one part for each division), I’ll be evaluating every skill position player on every team and giving my thoughts on their value, whether they are overvalued compared to Redraft or undervalued. Usually, the appropriate value will be somewhere in the middle.

Fading the Post-Draft Hype

We’ve seen a lot of movement in Dynasty Player Rankings as the dust settles post-NFL Draft. Landing spots and draft capital can completely change the path to success for rookies and veterans alike. As Dynasty owners, we love to project the future production of fantasy players, and the NFL Draft is a big day where we tweak our rankings and decide whether we’re “out” or “all in” on certain guys. In light of this, I want to cover a few names that may be fool’s gold based on their perceived situation. In this article, we will focus on some players that seemingly “won” the NFL Draft but that I am still avoiding at their respective prices.

What better time to test the water than the end of February with a mock draft?

Week 5 Starts and Sits

Goff exploded last week against Seattle throwing for 378 yards and four touchdowns leading him to be the fifth highest scoring QB this year. What a difference a year can make! And in a game where he was missing Amon-Ra St. Brown, DJ Chark, and D’Andre Swift nonetheless. It was an incredible show, but now he must take his Lions into New England, where Bill Belichick is known for making it tough on the opposing team’s best players.

Free Agency Day 2: Dynasty Winners and Losers

Zay Jones had a career year last year with 47 receptions and 546 receiving yards. He got a nice payday at up to $10M per year considering his lackluster career to date. They must have plans to incorporate him into the offense given the amount of the contract but he now enters a saturated receiving group. Jacksonville has been on a spending spree to improve the weapons for Trevor Lawrence. Christian Kirk, Evan Engram, and Zay Jones are now added to an offense that is also getting back Travis Etienne. This is not exactly high-end talent but it is an improvement over what they had.

Redraft: Week 9 Buy/Sell

Hello, fellow fantasy managers. I am Chris Miles, The Draft Director, and in this series of articles, I will be helping you determine what players value you should be taking advantage of each week in your Redraft league. If someone’s value is too high I might tell you to sell or if I think their value will decrease soon he could also be a sell. I will give my reasoning for why each player falls in a certain category. I will attempt to have the format consistently be a buy and sell for each position but that may increase or decrease depending on the week.

DJ Chark Injury: Rapid Reaction

Not a month into the NFL season and the injury reports around the league are looking longer than grandma’s grocery list. The Jaguars have now lost two central cogs in the offensive system. DJ Chark joins rookie running back Travis Etienne on season-ending injured reserve. Chark will most likely undergo surgery to repair a fractured ankle suffered in the Jaguars’ TNF loss to the Bengals, as reported by Ian Rapoport. An already bleak outlook for a struggling Jaguars team just got darker. The offense will be forced to funnel Chark’s usage into other options. Let’s take a look at who the trickle-down will affect.

Six Redraft Shares to Watch After Week 3

Unless we’re analyzing workhorse running backs or alpha wide receivers, a player’s usage can fluctuate from week to week. Some will shine and some will ruin your week. Remember, targets and opportunities are earned. In this series, I will provide weekly target shares, rushing attempt shares, and snap shares of SIX players (or group of players) to help you understand the value of each of them and decide whether to start ‘em, roster ‘em, or trade ‘em.

FFPC Dynasty & Redraft Series: Week 3

Whew. This past week was much better than the first. Most of my teams that started off with a loss got back to even and a number of solid teams moved to 2-0. Sadly there are more 0-2 teams in my portfolio than I would like. We know a lot more about the landscape out there today than we did two weeks ago, but we still need more time for the process of variance to give us a clearer picture. I have made some crucial start/sit mistakes but am hoping to get ahead of the curve this week and I hope you do, too.

FFPC Dynasty & Redraft Series: Week 2

As I got comfortable in my recliner a few minutes before kickoff this past Sunday, I told my wife about how the first week of NFL action can be really wild. I explained a little about the nonsense with Trey Sermon (RB – SF) being deactivated, and that although I was surprised and disappointed, I had drafted Elijah Mitchell (RB – SF) in nearly half my leagues as a late dart throw and stood to come out ahead. The only thing better than getting Mitchell in a couple of waivers this week was knowing I already took him in the fourth round of rookie drafts back in May and anywhere between the 16th and 20th rounds of redrafts this year. Here is my redraft RB top 4 for ownership:

Kickoff Countdown: 3 Days Until Kickoff!

JuJu Smith-Schuster: 2021 Dynasty Profile

JuJu Smith-Schuster played college football at USC from 2014-2016. JuJu registered a breakout season as a true freshman with 54 receptions for 724 yards and five TDs, but he was truly dominant as a sophomore, racking up 1,454 yards and 10 TDs on 89 receptions. After a solid junior campaign, JuJu declared for the 2016 NFL Draft and was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 30th pick in the second round.

Best Fantasy Destinations for Will Fuller

As the start of NFL free agency inches closer, now is an excellent time to explore some landing spots that could boost Will Fuller’s outlook. The speedy wideout will be entering his sixth season and is coming off a year cut short due to a six-game PED suspension after Week 12. Fuller was on pace for a monster season, posting career-highs in receptions, yards, and TDs to the tune of 53/879/8 in 11 games played. He was the WR8 in PPR scoring during that stretch. The suspension came at a crucial time in the fantasy season as those who owned him had to find a way to replace that production heading into the fantasy playoffs.

The Myth of Vacated Targets

Every season teams lose valuable receiving options from the prior year, and every season fantasy managers daydream about the possibility of a random bench piece inheriting all that volume. While this narrative has played about favorably for a handful of players, in the grand scheme of the NFL, it is actually very rare. “Vacated Targets” is the snake oil of fantasy football. Don’t let yourself get duped.
