As I got comfortable in my recliner a few minutes before kickoff this past Sunday, I told my wife about how the first week of NFL action can be really wild. I explained a little about the nonsense with Trey Sermon (RB – SF) being deactivated, and that although I was surprised and disappointed, I had drafted Elijah Mitchell (RB – SF) in nearly half my leagues as a late dart throw and stood to come out ahead. The only thing better than getting Mitchell in a couple of waivers this week was knowing I already took him in the fourth round of rookie drafts back in May and anywhere between the 16th and 20th rounds of redrafts this year. Here is my redraft RB top 4 for ownership:
Touchdowns came early and often for me on the Sunday slate, but then Ryan Fitzpatrick (QB – WAS) went down and I had some serious grumbling about the zero that Brandon Aiyuk (WR – SF) was putting up. In fact, every time I saw a 49ers’ play, I looked for him on the field and couldn’t find him. No worries. He is only one of my highest-owned WRs in FFPC redraft tourneys. Anyway, I had a rough Week 1. I hope my readers fared better, and I hope Week 2 turns things around.

Theirs: I saw a trade I liked a couple of days ago that was Jaylen Waddle (WR – MIA) and a future second-round pick for the combination of Courtland Sutton (WR – DEN), Darrell Henderson (RB – LAR), and a future third-round pick. I saw another that was Damien Harris (RB – NE) for Dallas Goedert (TE – PHI) straight up. One other was Marquez Callaway (WR – NO) and a future first-round pick for Jerry Jeudy (WR – DEN).
FF GAMESMANSHIP
This week is all about adjustments and roster management. Filling gaps and cutting waste. I will not be panicking on either Brandon Aiyuk or Trey Sermon. I am ecstatic to see DJ Chark (WR – Jax) get as much of a target share as he did and there were a ton of positives for many of my teams in the first week of action. It is important to remember that it was just one week and that there are a lot of great weeks ahead. Game scripts can often dictate so much of how a player performs for fantasy and we need to see a few weeks before we can draw broad conclusions.
DYNASTY AUCTION TEAMS
I have one team in the top 20 on dynastydepot.com and several others that I think can be competitive on their leaderboard. This is a very active trading period as many owners are actually logged in and active and teams need to make moves. Some of my strongest teams need to make room and some of my weaker teams have players that can be sold high right now. Hopefully, your teams will fall into one of two categories, a very strong competitor or an obvious rebuilder. The worst and most difficult teams to manage are the ones in between somewhere. We will need more time to decide on those, unless a deal comes in that knocks your socks off.
