Jalen Tolbert: Grab, Stash, Profit

Jalen Tolbert finally made an impact last season for the Dallas Cowboys. Taken 88th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, Tolbert had a quiet two years before posting 49/610/7 in a 2024 season largely played without Dak Prescott. Jerry and Co. added George Pickens to the receiving corps via trade in the offseason, and Special Teams standout KaVontae Turpin showed out in certain spots of the passing game. Still, Tolbert has locked in the WR3 spot with elevated expectations heading into the 2025 Campaign.

Comparing ADP, Dynasty to Redraft: NFC East

A much-overlooked aspect of Dynasty is value comparison, or comparing the values of Dynasty players to Redraft players and seeing which is worth more or less. You might be thinking, “Well, duh! Of course, older players are worth less in Dynasty than Redraft!” I agree! But what about Daniel Jones (QB – NYJ), who is only 26 years old? Should he be worth more in Redraft or Dynasty? Or how about Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR – DEN), who in Redraft has an ADP of WR10, but in Dynasty, he’s valued as WR6. Which side more appropriately values players? In this series, which will take place over eight parts (one part for each division), I’ll evaluate every skill position player on every team and give my thoughts on their value, whether they are overvalued compared to Redraft or undervalued. Usually, the appropriate value will be somewhere in the middle.

Best Rookie Landing Spots

Can’t you feel the excitement as we get closer to the draft? With free agency winding down, we now start to see the core of what each of these NFL teams will look like when we get into the fall. There is still one more piece to the puzzle though and if you play dynasty then it is probably amongst your favorite NFL events of the year—the NFL Draft. While I have learned not to take too much from the landing spot, I think many of us are still hurting from Clyde Edwards-Helaire in 2020. It does have an impact though and we would be foolish to ignore it. I find the best practice is to have everyone divided into tiers before the NFL Draft, then move players within a tier instead of jumping them an entire tier based on landing spot. We also have draft capital to consider but that is beyond the scope of what we will be discussing today. Let’s dig in!

Rapid Reaction: Brandin Cooks to Dallas

Narrative irony is one of the more underrated elements of professional sports leagues. In a poetically hilarious move, the Dallas Cowboys recently acquired journeyman receiver Brandin Cooks from the Houston Texans. The deal is eerily similar to a move made last offseason by Dallas, in which star receiver Amari Cooper was shipped off in a cap dump trade for an almost identical package of draft picks. Thus, this move is seemingly a downgrade talent-wise, as well as an admittance that moving on from Cooper in 2022 was the wrong decision. So, let’s dive into the NFL and the fantasy implications of this trade.

Rapid Reaction: Dalton Schultz to Houston

Even the less flashy moves can still prove to be meaningful in the NFL. We’ve seen plenty of under-the-radar signings create fantasy hidden gems. So, that begs the question; what free agents will prove to be great values in 2023? Today, we’ll take a look at if new Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz can be one of those guys.

’23 Rookie WR Analytics Spotlight Series: Josh Downs is That Dude

When analyzing wide receiver prospects, analysts such as myself, like to check boxes when a player eclipses a designated threshold for a certain metric. No prospect in this class checked more of these boxes across all metrics than Josh Downs. Downs was an uber-producer during his time at Chapel Hill. When Sam Howell or Drake Maye needed a big play, Downs was the unquestioned target. In this article, I will take you through the numbers and display why you should be targeting Josh Downs in your dynasty rookie drafts.

NFL Player Props: Thursday Night Football Preview

Thursday Night Football is back with the final midweek showcase of the 2022 season. The Cowboys (11-4) hit the road for a cross-conference matchup against the Titans (7-8) who will be without starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill and franchise running back Derrick Henry while also resting most of their starters on defense as they look towards the AFC South winner-takes-all match against the Jaguars in Week 18.

Week 3 Dynasty Waiver Wire

Hello DFF members, my name is Chris and this year I will be writing the weekly dynasty waiver adds piece. In this article I will be writing about players that I feel should be owned in much higher quantities in your dynasty leagues. I will try to stick to low ownership percentages, around 30% or less, but if there is a guy above that, who I think should be owned significantly more I will include them as well. I will be focusing on a 12-team, full PPR set-up for these articles but the players I am choosing should apply in 10-team leagues as well. Without further ado let’s get into the waiver adds.

2022 Projections: Dallas Cowboys

When we loosely compare players, most people feel they have a good idea of what kind of production to expect. We may think “CD Lamb can be a top-5 receiver while Michael Gallup scores 13-plus ppg, Jalen Tolbert is useful as a rookie and Dalton Schultz is a top-five tight end.” But, these may just be unrealistic goals to set even for the most pass-friendly offense in the NFL. I make projections to ground myself and help to understand what is actually possible, probable, or realistic. So, in this series, I will be going through each NFL team and making median projections for their 2022 seasons with their most fantasy-relevant players. I may be able to discern if certain players are being undervalued immediately but in most cases, I will need to finish more teams to get a good idea.

The WR1 Rating Dynasty Rookie Wide Receiver Countdown (Post Draft Update): Part 1

For those new to the WR1 rating, this is a proprietary formula I developed to provide a data-driven forecast of future dynasty value for incoming rookie wide receivers. The WR1 model scores rookies on nine predictive metrics and then combines those individual metric scores into a single WR1 rating. The goal is to provide a single easy-to-use score for those who don’t want to spend all the time dissecting different metrics.
