The Injury Roundup: Week 6

Injuries are inevitable in Fantasy Football. How you prepare and react to them can make or break your fantasy team. Did you build a bench with sufficient depth to withstand the running back injury carousel? How do you pivot if a key player goes on injured reserve? Each week, we will look at the most impactful injuries in the Fantasy world and what players will step up their Fantasy production.

The Wire: Week 7

Welcome back to another weekly edition of “The Wire”. In this series, I review three players each week that you should target on the waiver wire for your Dynasty teams. To keep the information in this series consistent, I will only refer to players with an ownership percentage of less than 50%, according to Sleeper Dynasty leagues. I’ll do my best to provide you with players that have a more long-term upside rather than a one-week ceiling, seeing that this is a Dynasty series and not Redraft. So, sit back, relax, and let me find you some diamonds in the rough!

DFS with Doug: Week 4

Welcome back to some DFS with Doug. By now, we have hit our stride and our routine for the NFL season. Every Sunday, we handle the juggling act of getting all of our Dynasty and Redraft lineups in shape while trying to make bets and, of course, submit our DFS lineups to land that big payday. That Sunday morning sweat is my favorite feeling during football season. This week, we will benefit from a football game while doing that with our first international game of the season. Or perhaps you are crazy like me and will be waking up at 5:30 MT to set some Showdown lineups for that game, too!

Late-Round RBs Worth Buying

In startup drafts, I believe it’s best to focus on RBs with contingent value in the later rounds, as it’s much more likely that these backups will hit your starting lineup than someone like Alec Pierce or Cedric Tillman. It only takes one injury for handcuff RBs to catapult into bell cow roles and potentially league-winning roles for your fantasy team. The 70th-best WR or 25th-best TE is much less likely to give you viable productivity during the season; too much would have to go right for them. As an example, Cedric Tillman (the current WR69, according to Bulletproofff.com) would need multiple injuries to the Browns’ receiving corps to see consistent targets in 2023. Even then, it would be unreasonable to expect Tillman to replicate the production of Amari Cooper.

Dynasty Football for Beginners: Trading

Welcome, everybody, to part two of my “Dynasty Fantasy Football for Beginners” series. Dynasty fantasy football is a unique and exciting format requiring a different approach to trading than redraft leagues. In a dynasty league, you are building a team for the long haul, and strategic trading can make all the difference in creating a championship-caliber squad. Each strategy will benefit different roster constructions. So take a good look at your roster, decide which direction you want to take your team, and consider these strategies. Before we jump right in, don’t forget to check out my first article, discussing pre-draft prep for your Dynasty startup.

Predicting the 2023 RB Carousel: NFC West

The 2023 offseason promises big changes to the running back landscape in the NFL. Over the next couple weeks, I’ll go over my predictions for the running back situations of each team, as well as the corresponding fantasy implications. Check out Part 3 of this series, where I looked at the AFC West.

One Week Ahead: Part 8

After the Atlanta Falcons drafted Kyle Pitts, fellow tight end Hayden Hurst became the forgotten man among the fantasy community. While he hasn’t made too much of an impact, he is still seeing some work in the passing game. Coming off a week eight where he played on 62% of the offensive snaps, Hurst is still seeing the field a good amount.

Fantasy Stock Up, Stock Down: NFC South

Tampa Bay made it apparent that they wanted to retain Brady’s pass-catchers by re-signing both Antonio Brown and Chris Godwin. Add them to the mix of Mike Evans, Scotty Miller, Rob Gronkowski, and Cameron Brate, and this group may be the deepest receiving crew in the league. To add more fire to the mix, O.J. Howard will come into the 2021 season fully healthy again. Brady finished as the QB8 last season, but most of his damage came in the second half of the season. From Weeks 7 and 17, he served as the QB6, but what’s more impressive is that he finished as the QB2 during the last three weeks of the season. Why is that the more impressive part? Maybe it’s because those last three weeks are typically the FANTASY PLAYOFFS!

Robby Anderson

Is Robby Anderson for Real?

If you’re anything like me, you grabbed Robby Anderson every year he was with the Jets expecting a massive breakout. You usually came up empty-handed as Anderson only finished inside the top 24 once (WR18 in 2017). In 2020, he signed with the Panthers and, after a fast start, finished as WR19. The Robby rollercoaster has burned a lot of fantasy managers over the years, so I decided to find out if last season was an outlier or the new normal.

Saquon Barkley: 2021 Dynasty Profile

The Giants drafted Barkley with the second overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, making him one of the highest-drafted running backs in recent memory. Barkley burst onto the scene as a rookie, finishing as the RB1 overall and second in fantasy PPG, behind only Todd Gurley. Barkley served as Eli Manning’s safety blanket, becoming both a featured rusher and a premier pass-catcher in his rookie season.

Redraft Impact of PPR Scoring

The original idea of half and full PPR scoring was to even out the production between running backs and wide receivers. In the past, say 15-20 years ago, running backs significantly outscored wide receivers. But, giving points per reception leveled the playing field. I’ll break down whether that’s still true, but that was the primary purpose behind PPR scoring systems. Also, basing scoring on receptions creates more predictability in projecting fantasy points. As always, fantasy leagues are more fun when they reward skill over luck. Specifically, adding PPR scoring reduces the scoring impact of touchdowns, which are highly unpredictable, in favor of receptions, which are highly predictable.

DFF Army PPR Redraft Mock Draft Review

Every few weeks, the Dynasty Football Factory team gathers its sharpest minds to put together a no time limit mock draft. Throughout the year the type of mock changes quite a bit. At the beginning of the year, it’s a lot of dynasty startups and rookie drafts. Now that it’s summer, the focus switches to redraft.

Sleeper Series: Sony Michel

Sleeper Series: Sony Michel

After writing my redraft team breakdown series, I decided to start a new series as we approach the 2020 fantasy season. Every week, or probably more often than that, I’m going to bring you one fantasy sleeper representing a massive value in 2020 redraft leagues. In my first article, I wrote about Hayden Hurst and how he represents a value. Additionally, I detailed my methodology behind this series, so go back and read that piece if you haven’t yet! Let’s jump into my second player, Sony Michel. I’ve come a long way on Michel since I buried him in my “Dead to Me” series. Well, that isn’t entirely true, but let’s get into exactly how I feel about Michel since it’s a complicated story.
