A day after sitting out the Commanders’ final preseason game, Brian Robinson Jr. was shot twice in the legs during an attempted carjacking. Robinson had been one of the biggest stories of the preseason thus far, ascending the Washington depth chart from perceived RB3 to potential RB1. He sat out the preseason finale, as many anticipate, as a safety precaution, which suggests a large role in the offense could have been possible for Robinson this season. However, this unfortunate turn of events will alter things.

I haven’t done a mock draft in years, aside from a couple of rookie mocks for DFF earlier this offseason where we published our results. I have been doing cheap $10 and $35 dollar buy-in best ball leagues for years and pretended as though I was mocking. I was experimenting, I was reaching, and I was trying to see how far I could take a certain strategy from an early, mid, or late draft slot before that strategy breaks (in my pre-September mind). I have treated those best ball drafts as research. It’s what most people call mocking, but I do it with live drafts with real money.

The game of poker, and more specifically No-Limit Texas Hold ‘Em, offers many lessons and insights that can be applied in fantasy football. I have occasionally considered myself a professional poker player at various times over the last ~20 years, which is to say that I have occasionally had a big enough victory to have to report it. I have cashed twice at bracelet events of the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, Nevada. I played a lot of online poker in the heyday of the internet poker boom in the mid to late 2000s. I believe I have played perhaps as many as two million hands in my life to this point. There was a time that I tracked it but I don’t really care anymore. At least I’m on the all-time leaderboard.
When we loosely compare players, most people feel they have a good idea of what kind of production to expect. We may think “Jonathan Taylor is easily the RB1 overall this season with the upgrade to Matt Ryan from Carson Wentz.” These are the sort of questions I look to answer with my process. I make projections to ground myself and to help understand what is possible, probable, or realistic. So, in this series, I will be going through each NFL team and making median projections for their 2022 seasons with their most fantasy-relevant players. I may be able to discern if certain players are being undervalued immediately but in most cases, I will need to finish more teams to get a good idea.
A basic understanding of NFL contracts can significantly improve your strengths as a dynasty football manager. Knowing when players are due for extensions or about to hit free agency can give you a head start on future market evaluations. Job security is an essential factor in the stability of player values. However, big pay days do not always equate to increased production. In this article, we will highlight a few of the NFL’s biggest contracts at the wide receiver position while looking back on previous major extensions and the production that followed thereafter. First, let’s dive into the current wide receiver contract market and the massive shifts made this offseason.
When we loosely compare players, most people feel they have a good idea of what kind of production to expect. We may think “Brandin Cooks is underrated this year and a prime candidate for another 1,000-yard season.” These are the sort of questions I look to answer with my process. I make projections to ground myself and to help understand what is possible, probable, or realistic. So, in this series, I will be going through each NFL team and making median projections for their 2022 seasons with their most fantasy-relevant players. The long football drought is finally over. A torrential downpour of offseason hype is flooding timelines as mandatory training camps are in full swing in the latter summer months. Preseason is fast approaching as teams ramp up in-house drills in preparation for the new campaign. Training camp reports can have a tangible effect on player value and, subsequently, the dynasty market as a whole. Today, we will analyze several recurring trends we see during the height of hype season and the impact those trends have in your Dynasty Leagues.
Watson’s current value on the dynasty market reflects a refusal to prepare for the worst while hoping for the best possible outcome in relation to fantasy upside. His ceiling is infinite when he is on the field. A minimal suspension would inevitably cause that value to spike into the top six dynasty quarterbacks should Watson return to his previous form of play. However, neither of those previously mentioned scenarios is a guaranteed outcome.

Reports are posturing that Kenny Pickett is merely an afterthought at the Steelers’ mandatory training camp. Mitchell Trubisky and Mason Rudolph appear locked in a battle for the starting gig, with the newly-minted 20th overall pick riding the pine. Today, we open up the case file on the Steelers’ 2022 first-round draft pick to hyper-analyze his future as an NFL quarterback and, ultimately, an effective dynasty asset.
Dynasty football etiquette is like an unwritten code of polite behavior that reflects a common courtesy to your fellow competitor. The unspoken nature of this community code can cause conflict within your leagues when silent expectations fall short. One of the many catalysts to league dysfunction is caused by managers departing an already-made roster, leaving a captainless ship for the remaining constituents to deal with. Vacating a dynasty league after signing up for a multi-year commitment can cause understandable frustrations. Nevertheless, sometimes a departure is necessary. Leaving a league should not be viewed as a disrespectful act if you approach the process with clear intentions. It would be best if you never quit a league blindly without notification. There are much more courteous ways to do so. Let’s dive into the Dynasty Etiquette of Leaving Your Dynasty League and answer some of the common scenarios in question.
