DFS Week 8 Recap

Week 8 is officially in the books! We saw some incredible things happen as Mike White led the Jets to a huge win over a strong Bengals team. With that being said, let’s see how my weekly DFS picks played out!

QUARTERBACKS

To start, let’s look at how my quarterback picks performed this weekend. Tom Brady was this week’s highest scorer as he produced 31.2 DK points. Brady was closely followed by the likes of Josh Allen and Matthew Stafford, who scored 29.46 and 27.2 DK points. Joe Burrow and Carson Wentz, two players I had exposure to in the middle price range, both had decent showings as they produced 21.26 and 20.34 DK points. Jalen Hurts was my biggest letdown at the quarterback position, scoring an uncharacteristic 11.22 DK points.

RUNNING BACKS

Next, let’s evaluate the running back plays of the week. Joe Mixon was one of my favorite plays at the RB position and he did not disappoint. Mixon was the second-highest scoring RB and produced 25.1 DK points. Running Backs Elijah Mitchell, Darrell Henderson Jr., and Jonathan Taylor all provided a solid total. Mitchell led the way with 22.7, followed by Henderson Jr. at 22.3, and then Jonathan Taylor at 21.2 DK points. Mitchell was also the cheapest option of the three and provided an immense return on investment. Derrick Henry, the top rusher this season, scored a season-low 6.80 DK points. This was unfortunate for owners as Henry’s 8.9k price tag is not cheap. To make matters worse for those who have Henry on their full-season fantasy rosters, Henry injured his foot on the day and it is feared to be a season-ending injury for the workhorse.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Now let’s dig into our wide receiver picks for the week. A.J. Brown was this week’s highest overall scorer as he produced 34.5 DK points. Brown was electric and helped the Titans come out on top of the Colts in a thrilling overtime win. Chris Godwin was the second-highest scoring WR and boy did that play out well if you followed my advice to stack him with TB12! The best value on the slate, in Michael Pittman, Jr. at 5.3k on DK, was the third-highest scoring turning in 30.6 DK points. If you followed my advice and were able to pair these three elite producers this week, you had a good payday! Players DeVonta Smith and Emmanuel Sanders, unfortunately, let us down as they scored 2.5 and 0  DK points. Calvin Ridley was a late inactive so, hopefully, you checked your lineups to make last-minute adjustments.

TIGHT ENDS

Lastly, my coverage of tight-ends. Dallas Goedert was one of my favorite players on the slate and he had a pedestrian day, posting 13.2 DK points, which was good enough for the fourth-best total. Kyle Pitts let owners down as he underproduced, scoring a total of 3.3 DK points. Hopefully, you took my advice to ride with Goedert as opposed to Pitts, as the two had different types of productions.

To conclude, never consider a player a “lock” for your lineup. To avoid having down weeks in DFS, consider a wide range of players and don’t overload exposure on one player. Also, injuries happen. Players bound for big weeks can end up not producing because of in-game injuries. That is the nature of sports betting. If it were easy everyone would do it.
