Best Rookie Landing Spots

Can’t you feel the excitement as we get closer to the draft? With free agency winding down, we now start to see the core of what each of these NFL teams will look like when we get into the fall. There is still one more piece to the puzzle though and if you play dynasty then it is probably amongst your favorite NFL events of the year—the NFL Draft. While I have learned not to take too much from the landing spot, I think many of us are still hurting from Clyde Edwards-Helaire in 2020. It does have an impact though and we would be foolish to ignore it. I find the best practice is to have everyone divided into tiers before the NFL Draft, then move players within a tier instead of jumping them an entire tier based on landing spot. We also have draft capital to consider but that is beyond the scope of what we will be discussing today. Let’s dig in!

Overlooked Gems: NFC West Edition

In this continued offseason series, we will break down one player from each NFL team currently being overlooked. At the same time, that player could provide great depth/potential to a deep dynasty league roster. These players are worth picking up if they are in your free agency. They are also players you may want to reconsider keeping if they are fringe roster cut options. I will try to convince you why they are worth a roster spot for now. Of course, the NFL Draft and free agency period could diminish each player’s value, but we need to be making sure we bolster our roster(s) as much as we can. Each week, one division will be broken down, and today is all about the NFC West.

2022 DFF Draft Coverage: Bo Melton

Although he fell fall down in the draft, Melton still has a chance at competing for the WR3 spot behind Metcalf and Lockett. Because of his situation, he’s a considerable candidate to get on the mid-to-late rounds in dynasty start-up leagues. If one of the two above him on the depth chart suffers a significant injury before the season starts, you may want to give Melton a look in redraft leagues as well.

2022 DFF Draft Coverage: Boye Mafe

Mafe was a three-star recruit from Hopkins, Minnesota who opted to play for his home-state team, the Golden Gophers. The redshirt senior took time to develop and emerge at the University of Minnesota despite an athletic profile extraordinary in the Twin Cities. He started 13 of a possible 19 games in his last two seasons according to The Football Database, collecting 61 tackles including 15.5 for loss and 11.5 QB sacks.

Dynasty Market Sweep: Quarterback Carousel Part 2

Welcome to the Dynasty Market Sweep, a weekly recurring offseason article focusing on substantial value disparities in the dynasty market consensus. The very nature of the instantaneous fantasy news feed has made the dynasty market more reactionary and volatile than ever before. Once the proverbial petrol is poured and Twitter fingers snap to ignite, player values can burn to the ground overnight. Value changes of this nature cause a ripple effect across the market. For every step up the ladder, someone must move down and vice versa.

Rapid Reaction: Russell Wilson Blockbuster Trade

Wow! The signs were there for the past year Denver would be making a big splash in the quarterback market. Denver suffered through poor quarterback play the last few years with Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater manning the helm. Then the Broncos signed Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick to contract extensions to make it an attractive destination for a potential new quarterback. Rumors were everywhere Aaron Rodgers was on his way to Denver. Then Rodgers announced he is staying in Green Bay and signing a new deal with the Packers. Hours later we get hit with the news from Adam Schefter on the blockbuster trade for Russell Wilson.

@Force_Fantasy’s Dynasty “My Guys”

It is a popular practice on Twitter to present your “my guys” for the upcoming season. These are players you are targeting for your dynasty rosters for one reason or another. At DFF, we want to ensure we are giving you actionable advice that goes beyond the standard fare. For that reason, our “my guys” won’t be among the Top 50 Dynasty Players as voted on by the crowd at KeepTradeCut. These are guys we view as undervalued by the market that we’re looking to acquire for our dynasty teams.

Week 16 Streamers

Streaming options need to be monitored daily at this point. With COVID-19 ruining the chances for some of your players to play, you need to make sure you are targeting your star players’ back-ups/replacements. It’s always better to be safe. For example, if you grabbed Tyler Huntley to replace Lamar Jackson this past week, you look like a genius! For now, the players below are assumed to be healthy and free from the virus. And they could help you advance to your fantasy championships. As always, we will provide the best weekly options to stream at quarterback, tight end, and D/ST. Keep in mind, each streaming option will be below 50% owned, according to ESPN leagues.
