The WR1 Rating Dynasty Rookie Countdown: Part 2

For those new to the WR1 rating, this is a proprietary formula I developed to provide a data-driven forecast of future dynasty value for incoming rookie wide receivers. The WR1 model scores rookies on nine predictive metrics and then combines those individual metric scores into a total WR1 rating score. The goal is to provide a single easy-to-use score for those who don’t want to spend all the time dissecting different metrics.

Pre-Combine 2022 Rookie Positional Rankings – QB

Your author has broken down his pre-combine rookie rankings into positional rankings with tier designations to help you better view the dynasty rookie draft landscape. It is important to remember these rankings are created with fantasy football purposes in mind. We will dive eight players deep with the QB and TE positions and ten players deep with the RB and WR positions. Up first, the QB position is detailed for the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft.

Selling High on Hype

During this “dead period”, of impact Fantasy Football content, it’s always good to take inventory of your roster and identify “who’s hot” and “who’s not”, from a Dynasty values perspective. The idea lends itself to helping you make strategic moves and improving your starting line-up production while insulating with production potential. The following recommendations are meant to help you find ways to expand your production potential via the off-loading of “hyped” assets, whether proven or unproven. These examples are not to say that these players possess poor value; rather it’s due to the perceived value that might allow you to move them in to strengthen your overall roster.

Rookie RB Prospect Model: Regression Analysis

Today’s fantasy landscape grows more and more complex. When evaluating rookie prospects we have so many different stats and metrics to look at. The hard part is figuring out which ones are important and which do not matter. That is where regression analysis can come in and play a large role. I will be using regression analysis to help build a predictive grading model that can be used to easily sift through many players to quickly identify guys to avoid and target. Our end goal when selecting rookies is who will be the best fantasy assets when they hit the NFL, and the best assets are the ones who score us the most fantasy points. To create my rookie model I used regression analysis and sorted through multiple different metrics to determine which correlated to NFL fantasy points per game (FP/G) the most and which correlated the least.

Have Patience with Kyle Pitts

I get it. Kyle Pitts is the savior that’s going to rescue your fantasy team from the desolate tight end landscape. Based on the eye-test and a lot of metrics, that seems to be true. HOWEVER, if Kyle Pitts is truly an NFL-level tight end, he would have to absolutely smash all rookie records in order to meet some of the expectations being laid out by the fantasy community.

DFF Senior Bowl Part 1: Big Game Performers

The Draft starts in Mobile, Alabama. Over the past two seasons, the player who has won Senior Bowl MVP honors was selected early in the first round of the NFL Draft. In 2019, that was Daniel Jones going sixth overall to become the New York Giants franchise quarterback. In 2020, Justin Herbert scorched the Senior Bowl, earning MVP honors and being selected sixth overall to the Los Angeles Chargers. Herbert went on to set rookie quarterback records and is one of the most valuable Superflex dynasty quarterbacks and players overall. Since 2014, there have been a number of players to play in the senior bowl and go on to become very good NFL players and correspondingly very valuable fantasy assets.

NFL Draft Rounds 4-7: Redraft Reaction

In this article, I’ll give rapid-fire takes on any skill players in Rounds 4-7 of the NFL Draft that I believe might be redraft viable. On Thursday, I wrote up the first round, on Friday, I did articles on the second and third round. Those links are at the bottom of this article. For these last four rounds, I’ll only pick out a few notable players that I expect to make an impact in redraft potentially. With each player, I’ll note their path to redraft relevance. It is important to note that any player listed below is, by definition, a long-shot. Very few late-round rookies hit in redraft.
