You usually came up empty-handed as Anderson only finished inside the top 24 once (WR18 in 2017). In 2020, he signed with the Panthers and, after a fast start, finished as WR19. Something to build on without giving up too much is always how I approach a rebuild, and WR is the perfect position to start at when analyzing your team. Wide receivers last a long time in a world where quarterbacks and running backs come and go frequently. In my very first dynasty league, I traded away Jarvis Landry. It doesn’t matter what I received in return because I can’t remember, and Jarvis is still producing and will continue to do so for years to come. Some of your leagues may have trade deadlines coming up, so it’s time to start taking extra time to look into remaining matchups for your key contributors. I should have trusted my gut. I needed to stream a tight end on Sunday and I had a sneaky good feeling about one of them. My starter, Tyler Higbee, was in danger of missing out on Monday Night Football due to injury. Anytime you have a starter with an injury designation playing on Monday, you know you need a backup plan. I checked every ranking I could, and they all told me that my best available options were Dalton Schultz and Darren Fells. I had a feeling about a different guy, but it’s tough to make that call when the best people in the industry have him ranked seven or eight spots below. I picked Darren Fells, who had scored in two straight games and saw seven targets last week.

The guy I had a gut feeling about? He went out and scored two touchdowns. Trust your gut, people. I could’ve had Harrison Bryant. If only I had a friend who writes this column with me and has been talking up Bryant since the draft. If only…

Robby Anderson: 2020 Dynasty Profile

The Jets found Anderson as an undrafted free agent out of Temple in 2016. As a rookie, Anderson filled the Jets’ WR3 role behind veterans Brandon Marshall and Quincy Enunwa after an injury to Eric Decker. Anderson served as the Jets’ primary deep threat, displaying elite speed. Going into 2017, the Jets dismantled their receiving corps. Marshall and Decker moved on in free agency while Enunwa missed the entire season with a neck injury. Anderson led the Jets in targets, yards, and touchdowns, ahead of WR2 Jermaine Kearse. At this point, Anderson seemed to become the Jets’ clear WR1, and he had a bright dynasty future.

It never ceases to amaze me that the majority of people will continue to buy “brand names” items, regardless of the price. This holds true in nearly all facets of society and even extends to fantasy football. Jamison Crowder is not a brand name item. Crowder played in all 16 games last season, starting 12. He led the Jets in targets (122), catches (78), receiving yards (833), and receiving touchdowns (6). Back in 2018, DJ Moore entered the NFL as a top wide receiver (WR) prospect. Posting impressive age-adjusted production at Maryland. He led the Terrapins passing attack during his breakout sophomore season at the age of 19. By the end of his career, Moore easily exceeded important production thresholds like career average scrimmage yards per play, receiving yards market share, and receiving yards per team pass attempt. D.J. Moore’s outstanding age-adjusted college production combined with elite athleticism, prototypical NFL size, and first-round draft capital made him an exciting WR prospect.

As the post-draft hype begins to fade and teams start looking for any asset on the waiver wire that they believe can help bolster their roster, everyone is looking for that next edge. In a recent argument on @TaleofTwoRivals, we bantered quickly about the value of UDFAs in a dynasty league but reached no real conclusion. I began to think of who can be this year’s Preston Williams. Redraft Team Focus: Panthers

Despite the Panthers’ poor quarterback play in 2019 from Cam Newton, Kyle Allen, and Will Grier, Moore flourished. He had 87 receptions on 135 targets for 1,175 yards and four touchdowns, and he finished just behind McCaffrey in targets and led the Panthers in receiving yards. Moore was the WR16 in 2019 in 15 games and averaged 15.4 PPR points per game, 16th among wide receivers.
