Dynasty Risers and Fallers Week Six

Dynasty Risers and Fallers Week 6

In this weekly piece, I will bring you some risers and fallers from a dynasty lens. Whether it’s injuries, performance, or value, I want to discuss how players have moved around. Based on the week’s events, I’ll give some advice on how to act on the market’s movement, whether it’s buying, selling, or holding.

I won’t limit myself to talking about any specific players or teams because I want to have the freedom to discuss whatever is most relevant. Also, of course, there are more risers and fallers than those I’m listing. However, it’s impossible to cover every single one of them, as dynasty values change weekly for many players. With that said, let’s jump into the risers first, followed by the fallers.

O.J. Howard’s Torn Achilles

Howard suffered a devastating torn Achilles injury in the Buccaneers’ Week 4 game. As most of you know, any torn Achilles is a season-ending injury, but it’s also one of the worst injuries in terms of rehab and recovery. Until recently, Achilles injuries were often career-ending, although some players have managed to return from the injury. Emmanuel Sanders is likely the most memorable recent example, and he recovered and returned at relatively full health despite his advanced age.

Dead to Me: Rob Gronkowski

I’m taking my dead to me series into the dynasty realm. At least, dynasty leagues will be the primary focus for me in this series in the future. Writing about dynasty makes more sense for a series on burying a player, as we look at the player’s value over time. Now, it’s time to put the final burial on Rob Gronkowski. I mentioned Gronkowski in a short blurb in a risers and fallers article this week, but he deserves his own article. For someone who was once a star, he should get a proper send-off.

Dynasty Risers and Fallers Week 3

Scott Miller: 2020 Dynasty Profile

The Buccaneers drafted Miller in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft as a deep wide receiver flier. Miller played four years at Bowling Green State University in the MAC conference. Even though he played at a smaller school, he dominated his team in receiving stats, gaining a bit of attention from NFL scouts. However, Miller had little chance to make an impact on the Buccaneers as a rookie in 2019. They had two star wide receivers in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin and a solid WR3 in Breshad Perriman. Additionally, the Buccaneers had two receiving tight ends with Cameron Brate and O.J. Howard and another depth receiver, 2018 fifth-round pick Justin Watson.

Josh Gordon Rapid Reaction

The Seahawks recently signed Josh Gordon to a 1-year, incentive-laden contract to return to the NFL. Gordon is awaiting reinstatement from the NFL due to substance-abuse violations, but I fully expect him to play in 2020. Even though Gordon hasn’t contributed significantly to fantasy football in many years, he was once a hot dynasty name. Therefore, he’ll generate buzz, and it’s crucial to discuss him after this signing.

Risers and Fallers: Part 4

As we approach the redraft season, I want to begin a new series of recent risers and fallers based on events happening in the fantasy football world. In each article, I’ll give you two risers and two fallers. There are many reasons that a player could move up or move down, so I’ll cover various situations throughout this article series. I’ll also include the previous entries at the bottom of this page. In this article, I’ll look at Phillip Lindsay, Preston Williams, David Montgomery, and Rob Gronkowski.

Devin Asiasi

Is Devin Asiasi a TE1?

The Patriots took Devin Asiasi in the 3rd round of this year’s draft. He was the second tight end taken, coming off the board in front of the likes of Adam Trautman and Harrison Bryant, both of whom had higher draft grades, according to NFL.com. However, it is not surprising to see the Patriots deviate from the status quo, and Asiasi brings some nice traits as a rookie tight end (even if they aren’t immediately apparent).

Holding Pattern: Guys I’m Hanging Onto… For Now

Devin Singletary had some impressive moments in his 2019 rookie campaign. He also spent some time on the bench with a lingering hamstring injury. After starting his season with limited opportunities, Singletary was trusted with 20 carries in week nine. He made the most of that opportunity, finishing as the sixth-best running back that week with 140 rushing yards and 38 yards receiving and added a touchdown. From weeks 11-16, Singletary averaged 17.16 rushes per game and 77.66 rushing yards per game, averaging 4.52 yards per attempt. Not too shabby.

O.J. Howard Buy Low?

O.J. Howard, Buy Low?

Back in April, I wrote about Rob Gronkowski’s return to the NFL, as he came out of retirement to join the Buccaneers. While Gronkowski is one of the best tight ends of all time, the Buccaneers already had a solid young tight end in O.J. Howard. They even have a third tight end, Cameron Brate, who’s found fantasy relevance at times throughout his career. The question is: what should dynasty owners do with Howard now? Is he a buy low, or should you avoid him? Let’s jump into how to handle Howard going forward.

Redraft Team Focus: Buccaneers

I’m analyzing every one of the 32 NFL teams and all of their redraft-relevant fantasy assets in this article series. It’s a long project, but I want to make sure that you, the reader, have something you can refer to for every team. For each article, I’ll split up the fantasy assets into three categories: high-end assets, usable contributors, and dart throws. Let’s jump into the Buccaneers.

2020 NFL Draft Winners/Losers

The NFL Draft is all about improving a team and injecting youth into a roster. The 2020 NFL Draft specifically has been highly touted as one of the best classes in years and comes at a time when people need something to take their minds off of our real-world problems. Much like years past, things haven’t gone as expected and front offices have made some head-scratching selections.

Gronk to the Bucs

Gronk is back! I feel like I needed to get that out of the way. If anybody doesn’t know, on April 21st, Gronkowski came out of retirement. Everything moved at a breakneck pace on that day. First, Ian Rapoport reported that Gronkowski wanted to unretire and join Tom Brady in Tampa Bay. A few hours later, the Buccaneers and Patriots agreed on a trade to send Gronkowski and a seventh-round pick for a fourth-round pick. Soon after that, Gronkowski officially passed a physical, which finalized the deal. Therefore, Gronkowski had gone from retired in the morning to officially part of the Buccaneers in just a few hours.
