Based on the week’s events, I’ll give some advice on how to act on the market’s movement, whether it’s buying, selling, or holding. 

I won’t limit myself to talking about any specific players or teams because I want to have the freedom to discuss whatever is most relevant. Week 11 Buy/Sell

Happy Thanksgiving! What an amazing holiday this is. All I’m thinking about is mashed potatoes. I always make the mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving, no matter how many people are attending (I wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving). I do this because I need the mashed potatoes to be perfect on Thanksgiving. The mashed potatoes are the glue that binds the perfect Thanksgiving bite together. You take some turkey (dark meat for me, please), some stuffing, some gravy and add it to your mashed potatoes and you get the ultimate culinary delight. Nothing better than that.

Week 9 Late Game Storylines

I love writing these storyline pieces. I will go through the games and discuss one dynasty-relevant storyline per team that I’m excited to see. Michael Thomas: 2020 Dynasty Profile

The Saints drafted Thomas with the 47th overall pick in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft. The Saints had Brandin Cooks and Willie Snead established as their top two receivers with tight end Coby Fleener as a free-agent acquisition from the Colts. However, Thomas immediately established himself as the WR1 for the Saints, leading the team in receptions, targets, and touchdowns as a rookie.

Week 6 is in the books, and we are barrelling toward the midpoint of the NFL season. I am back to help you fill out the back end of your roster. Once again, this is not a waiver wire column, these are players that you could add now or wait and watch. My goal is to make you aware of some players off the beaten path. This week we are looking into the New Orleans Saints receiving corps with an electric player out of Assumption College, a 2019 All-Pro, and a Pro Bowler in Year 1. Deonte Harris is a 5’6” WR/Returner that could be a sparkplug type player for the Saints in the future.

Tre’Quan Smith: 2020 Dynasty Profile

Michael Thomas Injury Fallout

In Week 1, superstar Saints’ wide receiver Michael Thomas suffered a “high ankle injury.” While details have come out slowly, the Saints now expect Thomas potentially to miss multiple weeks, and they could place him on injured reserve. If Thomas goes to IR, he will miss three games. At the very least, Thomas will almost certainly miss the Saints’ Monday night game against the Raiders. Whether he plays or not, you likely can’t rely on him because he will be a game-time decision on Monday night. If you have Thomas, I would hope he sits out and doesn’t try to play through it. Saquon Barkley and Alvin Kamara had the same injury in 2019 and came back too quickly. You don’t want Thomas to do the same and miss the rest of 2020.

#TomBomb: Tennessee Titans

The nice thing about some of these takes is that they simply write themselves. Now, I’m sure you’re wondering why in the world I’ve placed a 26-year old RB who has logged 804 professional carries, in four years, as my #1 Tennessee Titans buy-low dynasty asset. That’s fair. However, if that’s the case, then you just simply don’t know Old Tom as well as I’d like. Over and over and over again I’ve continued to pound the table on the reality that my dynasty philosophy is much more win-now oriented than most. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not oblivious to the future and what that entails. But, I will also be damned if I’m ever going to enter a season removed from the possibility of hoisting that championship trophy.

Everyone wants the hot new thing. As kids, we all wanted the brand new toy for Christmas and turned our noses up at the pairs of socks we sometimes got instead. Now that we are adults we want the cool new sports car instead of the pre-owned Honda. It’s the same in fantasy football. Everybody wants to be the guy who drafts the young running back who vaults himself into the first round next year. We all target those third-year wide receivers looking for that elusive breakout. But you know what? Those socks are a good present. They get the job done and you use them all the time. That pre-owned Honda is reliable and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to maintain. You can find similar values every year in fantasy football. No one in your draft room will let out a sigh of relief when you take one of these guys, but they’ll get the job done for you.
