The WR1 Rating Dynasty Rookie Wide Receiver Countdown (Post Draft Update): Part 2

For those new to the WR1 rating, this is a proprietary formula I developed to provide a data-driven forecast of future dynasty value for incoming rookie wide receivers. The WR1 model scores rookies on nine predictive metrics and then combines those individual metric scores into a single WR1 rating. The goal is to provide a single easy-to-use score for those who don’t want to spend all the time dissecting different metrics.

2022 DFF Draft Coverage: Jerrion Ealy

While Snoop Conner served as the Rebel’s short-yardage/goal-line rusher, Ealy was used as the “do it all” type of back. He posted consistent numbers, as he topped 700 yards rushing in all three seasons at Ole Miss. On top of scoring 20 rushing touchdowns during his three-year career, Ealy also hauled in four receiving touchdowns and two kick return scores. During his collegiate career, he also hauled in a combined 67 receptions for 545 yards, indicating that he can be a viable third-down option in the NFL.

2022 DFF Draft Coverage: Justyn Ross

After going undrafted and without a deal after the first couple of days during the undrafted free agency period, Ross gets a chance with a Kansas City team that’s overloaded at wide receiver. Mecole Hardman, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Skyy Moore are locks to make the team. Ross will battle with Josh Gordon and others, including his former teammate Cornell Powell for a roster spot this offseason.

2022 DFF Draft Coverage: Skyy Moore

Being paired with Patrick Mahomes is as good as you can ask for with a rookie wide receiver prospect. Tyreek Hill is gone along with his 1239 receiving yards. Moore figures to step in and contribute immediately. I have Moore ranked as the number eight wide receiver in this class for projected future dynasty value. He has the potential to make an impact at the next level but he does not profile as a number one receiver. Moore should go off the board in rookie drafts in the early second-round.

Fantasy Stock Up, Stock Down: Kansas City Chiefs

Welcome back to the “Fantasy Stock Up, Stock Down” series (offseason edition). We are just a few months away from all of the offseason madness, as teams prepare for free agency and the NFL Draft. Meanwhile, we as dynasty managers need to be preparing as well. Who are we going to target in rookie drafts? Who are we going to go out and trade for? Who are we willing to give up in return? Will you go all in this season to bring home a championship? Or should you go young and prepare for the future? There’s so much to think about before September. The “offseason edition” of this series is an early look at whose stock is up and whose stock is down as we head into free agency and draft season. We will break down each NFL team one by one. Today is all about the Kansas City Chiefs.

IDP Wrap Up: Week 15

If you have not been watching the Lions’ defense this season, you’ve probably missed some very solid production out of fifth-year defender Charles Harris. The former Missouri star has amassed 58 total tackles, nine TFLs, and 7.5 sacks this season. Sunday, the 26-year-old dominated, producing 12 total tackles, three TFLs, and 1.5 sacks against Kyler Murray and the Cardinals offense. Harris is an excellent starting defensive end this season and likely beyond.

Dynasty Risers and Fallers Week 7

Clyde Edwards-Helaire Injury Update

Kansas City Chiefs running back Clyde “The Glyde onto the IR” Edwards-Helaire, was injured in the third quarter of the blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills last Sunday. First off, props to our Director of Operations @DynastyDiagnos1 for coming up with that wordplay. Second, the injury was better than initially expected. Instead of it being a dreaded complete tear of one of the knee ligaments, it is being labeled an MCL sprain. The typical recovery time of this depends on what grade of sprain it is, but thankfully the Chiefs are leading us to believe that it is just a Grade 1 MCL Sprain which has a recovery time of 1-to-3 weeks. With that news, he was placed on the IR for at least the next three weeks, which means he will miss games against Washington, the Titans, and the Giants at the very least.

Dynasty Sleeper of the Week: Derrick Gore

Dynasty sleepers generally become tougher to discover as the year progresses but with the battle of attrition that is the 2021 season, a few more candidates have presented themselves. This edition features a player who wasn’t even on a team’s active roster until three days ago. Derrick Gore (no relation to Frank Gore) was signed to the Kansas City Chiefs’ roster on Tuesday in the wake of the Clyde Edwards-Helaire injury. So, let’s explore his background to determine if he’s actually worth a roster spot or not.

Against The Spread: Week 4

The most exciting game of the week was when the Chargers traveled to Kansas City for a matchup between two of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL. Justin Herbert came out of the gates strong, building an early 14-0 lead in the first half. The comeback that was expected from Patrick Mahomes, was delivered in the third quarter with consecutive passing scores to take a 17-14 lead. The fourth quarter of this game may have been the most exciting 15 minutes of football this season.

Against the Spread: Week 3

What a week of football! It started hot with an offensive explosion between the Cardinals and Vikings highlighted by a breakout game for second-round rookie Rondale Moore. We also had a thrilling overtime game in which the Titans took down the Seahawks. Derek Carr kept rolling as he leads the NFL in passing yards, defeating the Steelers in Pittsburgh while they bracketed Waller all game. The week was capped off with a big upset by the Ravens on Sunday Night Football. Let’s take a deeper look into the details of these games, and what data points could be sticky and applied to Week 3.
