What We Learned This Week
Pittsburgh played some dominant defense this weekend. Over 60 minutes of football on Sunday, the Steelers’ defense has produced four sacks, an interception, and three fumbles in a win against Ryan Tannehill and the Tennessee Titans. In the game, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Terrell Edmunds, Joe Schobert, and Chris Wormley lead the IDP scoring for Pittsburgh.
Dallas took out the lowly Giants offense in a snoozer on Sunday. The Cowboys defenders tormented Saquon Barkley and the New York offense all afternoon. In total, Dallas tallied three interceptions, a fumble, and a sack in the victory. Cowboys IDP players of note include DeMarcus Lawrence, Malik Hooker, and Jourdan Lewis.
The New Orleans Saints showed up in a big way in Tampa Bay on Sunday. It was quite impressive to see the Saints’ defense totally shut down Tom Brady and the Buccaneers’ offense. When it was all said and done, New Orleans had collected four sacks, an interception, and a fumble recovery on Sunday. Players to score big IDP points were Cameron Jordan, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, and Marcus Davenport.
Top Player Performances
D.J. Wonnum – DE – MINNESOTA VIKINGS
Wonnum, the Vikings’ fourth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft played the game of his life this week. Playing nearly 90% of snaps since Danielle Hunter went down to injury, Wonnum has filled in admirably for Minnesota’s defense this season. Week 15 was special, as the South Carolina alum put up eight total tackles, two TFLs, a forced fumble, and three sacks in Chicago on Monday Night Football. Young, proven defensive linemen are tough to find in IDP dynasty football, so if you have room on your roster, Wonnum is a nice depth addition.
Charles Harris – DE – DETROIT LIONS
If you have not been watching the Lions’ defense this season, you’ve probably missed some very solid production out of fifth-year defender Charles Harris. The former Missouri star has amassed 58 total tackles, nine TFLs, and 7.5 sacks this season. Sunday, the 26-year-old dominated, producing 12 total tackles, three TFLs, and 1.5 sacks against Kyler Murray and the Cardinals offense. Harris is an excellent starting defensive end this season and likely beyond.
Nick Bolton – LB – KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
In the victory on Thursday in Los Angeles, Bolton racked up 10 solo tackles, four assists, and three passes defensed. The rookie linebacker went over 100 total tackles on the season with the effort. If you roster the 2021 second-round pick, it looks like you have a long-term starter on your hands.
Notable Injuries
Quinnen Williams– DT –NEW YORK JETS
Williams left the game Sunday against Miami after suffering a shoulder injury. Robert Saleh said Monday that Williams “looks good” and could play Sunday against the Jaguars. Jonathan Marshall, Sheldon Rankins, and Nathan Shepherd could see more snaps if Williams sits out Week 16.
