A four-star high school recruit who was born in Taiwan, moved to Ghana, and later emigrated to Canada, John Metchie III played his high school ball in the state of Maryland. He logged some game time as a freshman at Alabama, but behind so many NFL talents at WR he didn’t log enough snaps to impress statistically. In 2020 he filled in for an injured Jaylen Waddle and recorded his breakout season. This past season, he earned second-team All-SEC honors with a team-high 96 receptions before suffering a torn ACL in the conference title game and missing the team’s playoff run.

The Henry Ruggs Situation

The Las Vegas Raiders have released Henry Ruggs following a fatal car crash and his pending felony DUI charges. Our collective hearts here at Dynasty Football Factory go out to all parties involved but understand many may have questions in the fantasy aftermath of Ruggs’ release. We are truly sensitive to the fact that someone lost their life and others are suffering due to this incident and that this is about far more than this little game we all play called fantasy football, but as a company whose ultimate focus is giving fantasy advice, we feel it’s our responsibility to cover the impact this has on the rest of the players and team. 2021 Dynasty Profile: Bryan Edwards

DFF Redraft League: Drafting from the Twelve Spot

This week I drafted an 18-man roster in a 14-team 0.5 PPR staff redraft league for @DFF_Fantasy. It is also TE Premium, where they get a full 1.0 PPR. There are 11 starting positions, QB/2RB/2WR/TE/3FLEX/K/DEFplus seven bench spots. There are also bonus points for converted first downs, both on receptions and in the running game.

Rapid Reaction: Cam Akers’ Torn Achilles

Cam Akers suffered a torn Achilles while training, a headline first reported by the NFL Network’s Tom Pelisasero. Akers was trending up in all fantasy football formats, going as a late second to early third-round draft pick in Superflex start-up leagues. He also was going as early as the first round in Redraft formats. This is a crushing loss, and we hope for a safe recovery for this promising young man. With an injury of this magnitude, we cannot dwell in our sadness, we must look for opportunities that this has created for us to gain advantages in our fantasy leagues for 2021.

Rookie Face Plants

Death, taxes, and analysts propping up rookie face plants. These second-year receivers are likely presented as premium buy-low players. Players that are still young and have perceived upside. But does buying rookie face plants work? Is it a viable strategy? We must first define what a face plant is. For this study, we will consider 7.5 PPR (per game) or less a face plant. This leaves us with a sample size of 229 receivers (all data of drafted wide receivers since 2010).  Of those 229, only 13 went on to achieve at least a top 24 positional finish and only nine were able to achieve more than one. That’s a staggering 5.7% achieving at least a top 24 positional finish and 3.9% achieving more than one. Not exactly odds that we would want to bet on, let alone trade away rookie draft capital to acquire.

Hunter Renfrow: 2020 Dynasty Profile

The Raiders selected Renfrow in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Clemson. One receiver that is not always mentioned but has the potential to be a first-round talent when he declares is Jaylen Waddle. Below will show why he should be highly valued in devy drafts and why he can be a valued asset when he makes it to the NFL. A four-star recruit from Episcopal in Bellaire, Texas. Waddle stands at 5’10 183 pounds. Waddle has two years of production going into his Junior year. He has appeared in 28 games, racking up 78 receptions for 1408 yards and 13 touchdowns.
