2020 Superflex Rookie Mock Draft 1.0

*This is not how I think the 2020 draft should go, but rather how I predict it will go at this point in the year*

As we near the midway point of the 2019 College Football Season, it is a perfect time to begin mocking this highly touted 2020 Rookie Class. It has the potential to be a great class and has dynasty owners everywhere drooling over those 2020 first and second-round picks. This is my prediction of how I see the first round in 2020 playing out in Superflex Rookie Drafts.

1.01 – D’Andre Swift, RB Georgia
No surprises here, even with it being a Superflex mock. Georgia’s running back D’Andre Swift is next in line to be drafted in the first round of rookie drafts and the actual NFL Draft from Running Back University. Swift is the consensus top player in all devy ranks right now. Swift is an electric back. He has one of the best cuts in all of college football, which makes him a nightmare in space. He has some of the best acceleration in this class which lets him burst out of cuts for huge gains. What makes D’Andre Swift such a complete back is his pass-catching ability. Whether it is from the backfield or lined up in the slot, he is a matchup nightmare for linebackers trying to cover him in the passing game. Swift has very few red flags, hasn’t been ridden heavily in college and will enter the NFL with fewer touches than the majority of his 2020 classmates. Swift will need to improve on his pass protection, but he should step into a heavy workload when he enters the NFL and make an immediate impact on dynasty rosters.

1.02 – Tua Tagovailoa, QB Alabama

NFC South: Week 4 and 5 Dynasty Nuggets

DJ Moore (WR – CAR)
The second-year WR out of Maryland was the second leading receiver on Panthers in Weeks 4 and 5. Note how I didn’t say WR, as RB Christain McCaffery has led the team in targets, catches, yards and touchdowns the past two weeks. However, on the year, Moore has been the most productive pass-catcher on the Panthers this season, leading the team with 352 yards, good for WR29 on the year prior to Monday Night Football. Moore is a solid WR2/3 option moving forward.

Factory Divisional Nuggets: NFC West #2

Jimmy G is starting to look like the guy the 49ers brought in from the Patriots, who just found ways to win games. You might not think he’s showing flashy numbers on the fantasy stat sheets, but his play is approaching what we believe he can be. You can’t argue the fact that he just wins games! He’s QB7 in completion percentage, at 69%, which is even better than the end of season explosion upon his arrival in Santa Clara. Currently a QB2 in fantasy production, the arrow is pointing up as he continues to build back up his time under center, and his rapport with a relatively inexperienced WR corps. He’s clutch! But can he really be a QB1? I feel he is a high-end QB2, and that is what he is.

Dynasty Outlook: J.J. Arcega-Whiteside

Sometimes, you really can have it all. It’s a beautiful moment when college production, breakout age, dominator rating, physical ability, draft capital, and landing spot all come together at the same time. Some may even call it a perfect storm. But how will it play out in the NFL? become a member to find out!

Divisional Nuggets: NFC North Week 3 Update

Allen Robinson, WRHe’s the best option in the passing game. Trubisky stares him down on plenty of plays. He’s averaging nine targets per game, good for 26.5% target share. Nobody else on the team is above 20%. Taylor Gabriel is outscoring Robinson for the year, largely because he’s probably caught 60% of his yearly touchdowns vs the Redskins. Even with the great Gabriel performance, Robinson commands 38% of the team’s air yards. It’s only a matter of time before Robinson starts to find the end zone and breaks out. If somebody is just box score scouting, I’d offer a late first pretty easily for him. He’s just entering his athletic prime, more than a year removed from the ACL tear, and getting awesome volume. Gobble up those shares.

Dynasty Outlook: James Washington

Okay. We get it. We’ve been hearing about it for the past week. We know. We know James Washington and Mason Rudolph played together for four years in college (2014-2017) and put up some pretty impressive numbers at Oklahoma State. We’ve been waiting all week, ever since Ben Roethlisberger went down with a season-ending elbow injury, to see if this former college connection would translate at all to fantasy success. This weekend, we got our first look at the new tandem on the Pittsburgh Steelers offense.

Dynasty Outlook: Marquise Brown

Film matters. Analytics matter. College production matters. Draft capital and landing spot matter. The debate about which variable is most important or best at predicting future NFL and fantasy success will rage on. However, at the intersection of every variable we use and every lens through which we look to evaluate a prospect sits an individual, unique player. It doesn’t matter how predictive we think our research is. At the end of the day, a rookie and his coaching staff still have to go out and get the job done. When evaluating the long term dynasty potential of a rookie wide receiver, we have to work with what we have. Anyone who tells you they have all the answers is selling you something. However, certain historical trends, film analysis, and other variables can give us a glimpse into what is possible. As I attempt to breakdown the dynasty outlook of Marquise Brown, keep a few things in mind: we only know what we know. He has extremely limited professional experience and much of what will be covered is speculation that is, however, rooted in research. Will he do enough to provide fantasy relevance this year or in the future?

AFC North Factory Divisional Nuggets: Week 2

“Not bad for a running back”. That post-game quote from Lamar Jackson summed up the Ravens’ decimation of the Dolphins in Week 1. The new-look Ravens offense hung 59 points on the hapless Fins (42 by halftime) which afforded Lamar Jackson an early exit during the fourth quarter. After winning the division by finishing the 2018 season on a 6-1 record with Jackson at QB, the Ravens essentially rebuilt their offense around their new signal-caller. They drafted two wide receivers and a running back, brought over veteran free agent Mark Ingram, and turned the keys over to Lamar Jackson. The early returns look promising.
