Dynasty: Week 14 Buy/Sell

Hello, fellow fantasy managers. I am Chris Miles, The Draft Director, and welcome to the first installment of my Dynasty Buy/Sells. I will be helping you determine what players value you should be taking advantage of in your dynasty leagues as we approach the fantasy playoffs and offseason. If someone’s value is too high I might tell you to sell. If I think their value will decrease soon, he could also be a sell. I will give my reasoning for why each player falls in a certain category. There will be advice for both contenders and rebuilders so whichever boat you’re in you can get information from these articles. I will attempt to have the format consistently be two buys and two sells for both rebuilds and contenders, but that may increase or decrease depending on the week.

Post-Season Dynasty Rookie Rankings: Running Backs 7-10

We did it, fam. We made it through one of the craziest Fantasy Regular Seasons I’ve experienced in a decade because of either injury, Covid, odd bye week scheduling due to the extra game, or more injuries. But alas, we’ve reached the bittersweet transition into the Post-Season and it’s time to game-plan a playoff push or rebuild for 2022 and beyond. Managers should be making moves with the 2021 Rookie Class regardless of whether they’re winners or losers. And what better way to help ensure the right moves are being made than by creating a soon-to-be controversial Dynasty Rankings list by position. We’ll rank and assess The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly Truth of all the high-profile rookies to gauge their dynasty trade value starting with running backs.

2022 DFF Superflex Rookie Mock Draft 1.0

Six members of the DFF Army got together to conduct an early Superflex 2022 Rookie Mock Draft, everyone doubled up on teams to make it reflect a 12-team league and, for fairness of randomly generated draft spot we decided to pick in a snake format, rather than the typical fixed order that rookie drafts are conducted in. I will also provide some insights on the picks based on my personal analysis.

Rookie Stock Report: Final

I’m not saying Mac Jones is the next Patrick Mahomes or even Justin Herbert. But he’s now a solid prospect with the potential to have a very safe floor for a long time. Think Kirk Cousins or Derek Carr. Neither of them makes you feel giddy but you don’t want to undersell a sneaky QB1 or high-end QB2. Mac Jones may not be a Lamar Jackson-type fantasy darling but he is a  quality “real” quarterback that you shouldn’t worry about losing his job anytime soon. The Patriots are back in the playoff hunt and much of that success is due to the rookie’s success.

Rookie Stock Report: Week 11

Michael Carter has been the RB3 over the last four weeks. Let that sink in. It’s worth reminding folks that the Jets’ running back has been leading the team in target and relying on this receiving volume might not always be sustainable but the talent is being noticed. The GM and coaching staff need to put all their effort into the offensive line this offseason before we see the rushing efficiency we’d want out of a running back but I continue to be encouraged by all the moves I’ve seen thus far. Buy him now while there are still those who doubt.

So You’re Mathematically Eliminated From The Playoffs…What Now?

Well, it has certainly been a wild ride so far this season. We have seen wild breakouts from Elijah Mitchell, Ja’Marr Chase, James Conner, and Cordarrelle Patterson. We have seen relative busts from Stefon Diggs, Allen Robinson, and Miles Sanders. In fantasy, you have to do what you think is best and hope it pans out. Maybe you just didn’t get it done this year and that is okay. Fantasy football is a fickle entity and whether you had injury woes or made a few wrong trades you just didn’t get to the promised land this year. What do you do now?

Injuries Growing on Trees: Robert Woods Rapid Reaction

You were already disappointed during the early part of the season if you went with a Zero-WR approach and expected WR1 numbers from Robert Woods but he quietly crept up as the WR12 after Week 9 just past the halfway point of the season. Now, some people want to claw their eyes out if they weren’t one of the few to sell early (It’s me. I’m some people) and are scrambling to recover for the playoff push. Luckily WR is a deep position and there are waiver and trade options to plugin.

Rapid Reaction: Cam Newton’s Homecoming

Cam Newton is coming home. After the news broke of Sam Darnold’s shoulder injury, most likely forcing him to IR, the Panthers were left with a predicament. Do they leave their season in the hands of former XFL star P.J. Walker? Or do they look for a veteran on the market? Well, here comes Cam!

Rookie Stock Report: Week 9

No touchdowns despite a decent rushing game that resulted in a flex-like game for Khalil Herbert. The Chicago offense looked much better while Matt Nagy was out (more on this later) and Justin Fields vultured opportunities after a healthy uptick in rushing usage.  It’s obviously disappointing to those hoping to have another RB2 performance before Montgomery’s return but consider this encouraging for all of our Chicago shares in the future. Herbert should have Tony Pollard-like upside in the future and is a hold no matter what.

FFPC Dynasty & Redraft Series: Week 9

All I can really say about Week 8 is that I did alright overall. I would classify it as a “come-back-to-Earth” kind of week. I had solid results in Redraft and really didn’t do so well at all in Dynasty. But by having performed so well up to this point, I have earned some cushion to be able to absorb weeks like this. I have suspected for a while now that Week 9 would be the much better (worse) sequel to the bye-apocalypse that occurred in Week 7. And so far that has proven to be correct.

The Henry Ruggs Situation

The Las Vegas Raiders have released Henry Ruggs following a fatal car crash and his pending felony DUI charges. Our collective hearts here at Dynasty Football Factory go out to all parties involved but understand many may have questions in the fantasy aftermath of Ruggs’ release. We are truly sensitive to the fact that someone lost their life and others are suffering due to this incident and that this is about far more than this little game we all play called fantasy football, but as a company whose ultimate focus is giving fantasy advice, we feel it’s our responsibility to cover the impact this has on the rest of the players and team. It goes without saying, please do not drink and drive. It’s simply not worth the risk.

Adrian Peterson Signed by the Titans: Rapid Reaction

The Titans are leading their division with a 6-2 record and look to continue their pace despite losing their best player. It’s hard to see them doing that with Adrian Peterson. It’s safe to say that the Titans have been successful because of Derrick Henry. A.J. Brown has only been truly back for the last two weeks and Julio Jones has been non-existent when healthy and has caused the entire aerial attack to fall well below expectations. Couple that with the atrocious defense and you have to wonder if Tennessee is the worst six-win team in the league. Peterson simply isn’t Derrick Henry, who was on pace for another historic season. Don’t get me wrong, Peterson is a legend in his own right, but is no longer the animal he was for the Vikings and shouldn’t be overhyped. He only averaged 3.87 yards a carry with the Lions last season and that should give you a benchmark for his efficiency. You’re looking at a touchdown-dependent short-term option that would only be useful for contending teams needing a plugin while they wait on injured players to return for the fantasy playoffs.

DFS week 3

Kyler Murray Injury: Rapid Reaction

Kyler has not produced the video-game level numbers that were projected of him this offseason. Dubbed a “Konami Code” quarterback, Kyler has not rushed for a touchdown since Week 3 against the Jaguars. He has just 147 rushing yards this season, averaging a paltry 18.3 rushing yards per game. Kyler’s once rock-solid rushing upside has crumbled and should continue to decline post-injury.

Calvin Ridley Out Indefinitely: Rapid Reaction

Calvin Ridley has decided to step away from football per a statement released on Twitter. It’s already been a disappointing season for a player expected to be a top-10 receiver as the first full season as the Falcons’ WR1. Ridley’s underwhelming season comes from a combination of missing a game for personal reasons and Atlanta, particularly Matt Ryan, underperforming. We’ll break down both the redraft and dynasty impact of the news and how we move forward as the third-year player recovers.

Big Dog Built Different: Derrick Henry’s Road to a Consecutive 2K Yard Season

Call it an athletic profile if you wish, but Derrick Henry is not like any other NFL athlete at the running back position. Henry is a freight train that runs on the nightmare fuel of would-be tacklers. Comparing the reigning rushing leader to any other running back is akin to comparing a chihuahua to a pit bull. They might be the same animal, but those dogs are built differently.

Rookie Stock Report: Week 8

Elijah Mitchell continues to dominate the 49ers ‘backfield and is running as efficiently as any player should in this system. Trey Sermon has been relegated to a special teams player and doesn’t seem to be a threat, however, JaMycal Hasty has returned and received 34% of the snaps as the third-down back. This will cap Mitchell’s receiving production but the 49ers have a running scheme that gives its players a chance to score anytime they touch the ball. Mitchell lacks size but has the burst to replicate Raheem Mostert’s production and can actually stay on the field. So far anyway. Mitchell should be considered the second-ranked rookie running back behind only Najee Harris.

FFPC Dynasty & Redraft Series: Week 8

The bye-apocalypse last week was a big mountain to climb, but Week 8 is roughly the midpoint of the fantasy season and it is already here. For teams that won’t make the playoffs, it is already past that point. The separation is becoming clearer between contenders, pretenders, and the teams in the middle that are on the verge of a playoff berth. And the walking dead teams. A reminder to FFPC dynasty owners that the magic number for Victory Points (VP) to make the playoffs is 29, according to my research.

Rookie Stock Report: Week 7

Philadelphia’s game against Tampa Bay was strange all-around and DeVonta Smith had one of his worst games of the season. The Eagles have a banged-up offensive line and all but abandoned the run game and pass inefficiently without it complimenting the play-action. It should also be noted that Zack Ertz, who lead the team in targets for the game, is now gone. DeVonta Smith should arguably be in the ‘To the Moon’ category, but the rookie’s value may be cheaper as we head into byes and his bad game. Teams will be evaluating if they’re ready to win or not and may want to sell for something more certain.
