Methodology and Intro
After writing my redraft team breakdown series, I decided to start a new series as we approach the 2020 fantasy season. Every week, or probably more often than that, I’m going to bring you one fantasy sleeper representing a massive value in 2020 redraft leagues. All the links to previous articles are at the bottom of the article. In the first article, I detailed my methodology behind this series, so go back and read that piece if you haven’t yet!
Today it’s time for another rookie wide receiver. I believe that Jalen Reagor presents an extreme value in 2020 redraft leagues, and he could even be a league-winner. I’ve even made him my top rookie receiver in redraft formats. Let’s get into why I love Reagor in 2020.
Past Production
Like Brandon Aiyuk in one of my previous sleeper articles, Reagor, of course, has no previous NFL production. Reagor played college ball at TCU for three seasons.

I went through Reagor’s college career back in March. His sophomore season was excellent, as he dominated TCU’s receiver group. Reagor had more than double the receptions and yards of any other player, and he scored half of the team’s receiving touchdowns. Immediately, Reagor became a top prospect in the 2020 wide receiver class, jumping onto the radar of dynasty owners and the NFL.
Unfortunately, TCU’s entire offense tanked in 2019, taking Reagor down with it. Reagor continued to lead the team in all receiving categories, but the overall offensive pie was far smaller. Quarterback Max Duggan was horrific, and he had little chemistry with Reagor.
Back at the time of my previous article, Reagor had just run a disappointing 40-yard dash time at the NFL Combine. Together with Reagor’s unsuccessful junior season, I expected Reagor to fall in the NFL Draft. However, the Eagles believed in what Reagor displayed in his sophomore year, and they decided to select him with the 21st overall pick. With that draft capital, Reagor jumped up both my dynasty and redraft boards, since he went higher than I thought, and he had a good landing spot.
The Prevailing Narrative
The main negative narrative with Reagor is that he’s a rookie wide receiver, and rookie wide receivers come into the NFL slowly. Even in July, I had some doubts about Reagor’s initial potential in 2020. I thought he would challenge for a starting job, but I wasn’t willing to assume he would win a starting spot. The Eagles should also run 12 personnel with Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert, limiting wide receiver snaps in their offense.
However, it is now abundantly clear that Alshon Jeffery will begin the season on the PUP list, opening a spot in the starting lineup for Reagor. The other Eagles’ receivers are Greg Ward and JJ Arcega-Whiteside, neither of whom inspire any confidence. Therefore, Reagor should have a spot in the starting lineup, even though he’s a rookie.
I know that many redraft owners struggle to draft rookie wide receivers. Unlike those involved in the dynasty community, some redraft owners aren’t fully aware of the incoming rookie class. They prefer to draft based on last year’s stats, and they won’t want to take a risk on an unknown like Reagor. Take advantage of that narrative, and be more informed than your leaguemates.
2020 Outlook
At this point, Reagor has vaulted up to my WR40 and 99th overall player. I believe that Carson Wentz is a strong NFL quarterback and will support a relevant fantasy wide receiver on top of Ertz and Goedert. The Eagles have deployed Reagor in both two and three-wide receiver sets. One of the most significant obstacles that rookie receivers face is getting on the field, but Reagor will undoubtedly get early opportunities.
In contrast, FantasyPros Consensus ADP has Reagor as WR54 and 138th overall. I find that ranking to be far too low, and I would even say that Reagor’s floor is higher than WR54. Reagor is a perfect turbo boost for your roster in the later rounds. I expect to draft Reagor a lot in the coming redraft season.
