2020 WR Sleepers

While creating my 2020 WR Model, I found a few under the radar players not getting much love currently, but I believe these players 100% deserve your attention leading up to and after the NFL draft. These players all have elements that both analytic nuts and film grinders should be able to appreciate. They all “broke-out” their sophomore year, and have good traits seen on film. When a player checks both of those boxes, I am officially intrigued. Keep reading to see my breakdowns of these potential sleepers.

The Value of a WR2

My goal for this piece is to lay out my personal experience with building depth at the wide receiver position over the last few seasons. I have come to find that targeting wide receivers who are the second options on certain teams have allowed me to bank up significant depth and afforded me opportunities to make moves for other positions.

Don’t You Forget About Me

In this article, I’m going to walk you through three players that had a down season in 2019, but who I expect to either bounce back or breakout in 2020. For variety’s sake, I’ve decided to look at a running back, wide receiver, and tight end. Also, I’ve picked three very different types of players to explore the different ways to buy at this time in the offseason.

Tee Higgins Declares For The 2020 NFL Draft

Heading into the 2020 National Championship game, many of the players we wanted to declare did so already. We were just waiting on Chuba Hubbard, Najee Harris, and the guys who were playing in the title game. The 2020 class took major blows when Chuba announced his return to school and reports came out about Najee returning. It recovered in a big way when Clemson wide receiver Tee Higgins announced his declaration for the 2020 NFL Draft.

Michael Warren II Declares for the NFL Draft

Name: Michael Warren II Position: RB College: Cincinnati Classification: Junior Height: 5 ft 11 in Weight: 222 lbs Michael Warren, an underrated prospect out of Cincinnati, has declared to enter this running back heavy draft. While the class is talented, I don’t think that will make him fall by any means. We will take a look at some film and break down the stats to show the ability and potential this prospect has at the next level.  Let’s dive in! Breaking Down the Stats Some things that I like to consider when evaluating what a running back can do at the next level is the usage in college and the consistency of that usage. As you can see with the table above, Warren had encouragingly heavy usage in his sophomore and junior seasons.  More often than not, the running backs in the NFL have at least one season of workhorse usage in college. In 2019, Warren ranked 10th in total rushing attempts among all other FBS backs with 261 attempts. Those attempts placed him at 10th in rushing touchdowns among that same list. Warren is clearly not a tier 1 or tier 2 running back in this class. His per carry stats are lackluster compared to the other backs that saw a similar workload. With that being said, Warren can easily be a change of pace back in the right offense. If he does that, he will easily return value at his selected ADP. Although he was not a huge focus in the passing game, he saw significant work for

Players To Watch In The Shrine Bowl

This is one of my favorite times of the year for football season. Seeing which prospects will make the jump from college to the pros is always exciting. There are a few all-star games that highlight these events. The biggest of them all is the Senior Bowl. The second biggest is the East-West Shrine Bowl. While this game doesn’t feature a lot of players who become major contributors for our dynasty teams, there have been a few. John Brown, Robby Anderson, and Emmanuel Sanders all appeared in this game. There are a few prospects I will be keeping my eye on this weekend.

Tua Tagovailoa Declares For The 2020 NFL Draft

The strengths of the 2020 class lie at the running back and wide receiver positions. The quarterback and tight end classes are not nearly discussed as much. When Tua injured his hip, any excitement about this class immediately ceased. With questions surrounding Tua’s health, dynasty owners had to wait for weeks to learn about his next step. Luckily for dynasty owners, he decided to forgo his senior season by entering the 2020 NFL Draft. Tua is the talent that this quarterback class desperately needed.

Post-Season Dynasty Moves

#1: Evaluate Your Current Leagues and Your 2020 Plan
In simple terms, what this means is that before you manage your rosters and conduct trades, you should make sure that you’re committed to the league for the 2020 cycle. There is no shame in leaving a league for any reason. Those reasons can range from being overstretched in too many leagues, to not enjoying the league, to wanting to play leagues at a different level of buy-in, be that lower or higher.

Rookie Watch: Jonathan Taylor

I begin my Rookie Watch series on Wisconsin Junior, Jonathan Taylor. You’ll find his collegiate stats here. No doubt, the badger was a dominant college running back–scoring 50 touchdowns in three years. The Badgers are a successful running team year in and year out. They are known for their inside and outside-zone running schemes. Recent alumni Melvin Gordon and James White were also very successful at Wisconsin. They are typically well-coached and tough to stop on the ground.

Trending Up and Trending Down: Running Backs

Dynasty never ends and that is one of many things that makes it great. Sleeper has a section called “Trending Up and Trending Down”. I find it interesting what people are trending on since we are now at the beginning of the non-scoring season for all players. This is the first part of a series that I am going to continue throughout the off-season.  Sleeper supports many different types of leagues so it’s unknown what people’s motivations are for their roster moves. Let’s take a look at who’s trending: Trending Up (Being added to rosters) Mike Weber–Kansas City Chiefs RB (Practice Squad) I had to double-check this was the same Mike Weber drafted by the Dallas Cowboys this year. Weber had a fair share of hype coming out of college but then was outshined in the preseason by fellow rookie Tony Pollard. After being cut and making his way through waivers, Weber appeared on the Cowboys’ practice squad before Week 1. He has now signed with the Chiefs and could see some playoff experience if there are injures. People are adding anyone who may play running back for the Chiefs, hoping to catch lightning in the bottle. Weber could be that lightning with a change of scenery. In his three years at Ohio St, he ran for nearly 6 yards a carry and was averaging 5.5 yards per reception as well. The Chiefs utilized both LeSean McCoy and Damien Williams on the ground and in the receiving game. McCoy is a free agent following this season. Williams, while on a

Pre-Draft Roster Moves: Part 2

Pre-Draft Roster Moves: Part 2. Everyone treats the offseason differently. While I would not recommend making drastic changes to your roster or filling your league-mates’ inboxes with trade offers designed to overhaul your team, making calculated adjustments during this “downtime” can set you up for success come the NFL Draft and your subsequent rookie draft. With that in mind, I am going to touch on a few players that I think you should make moves on, either trading away or trading for before the NFL Draft. These are players who I believe will have significant value changes once their team completes the draft. Looking ahead and capitalizing on values in the offseason can set your team up for success come next fall.

Alabama Wide Receiver Jerry Jeudy Declares For The 2020 NFL Draft

Dynasty owners who have sold out for the 2020 class have been quite fortunate in the past few weeks. Almost every prospect we wanted to declare did declare. The decision could have gone differently for the talented trio from Alabama. After a disappointing season—anything other than a title is a disappointment for them—it wouldn’t have been inconceivable for the Tua Tagovailoa, Henry Ruggs III and Jerry Jeudy to return for another shot. After all, they didn’t win the titles for two consecutive seasons. Thankfully, dynasty owners wouldn’t have to wait until 2021 for them. On January 4th, Jerry Jeudy became the first to announce his declaration for the 2020 NFL Draft.

2019 Hits and Misses

I’ve been a Hooper fan for a couple of years now. He’s improved every season and 2018 proved to me that he’d broken out. Austin Hooper’s appeal during the draft season was where he was being drafted. Hooper had around 10 ADP which made him the 11th TE taken on average. This was crazy to me considering he finished the 2018 season as the TE6 securing 71 receptions on 81 targets for 660 yards and four touchdowns. Well, he sure didn’t disappoint, Hooper once again finished as the TE6. He caught 75 of 97 targets 787 yards and six touchdowns while starting just 10 games due to a knee injury.

Oklahoma WR CeeDee Lamb Declares For The 2020 NFL Draft

The 2020 WR class is the most talked-about class since the legendary 2014 WR class. The depth is highly impressive. Dynasty owners will be able to find contributors at the wide receiver position in the third round and later of their rookie drafts. While the depth is exciting, I’m more excited about the talent at the top. One of the most talented WR prospects in recent years recently declared for the 2020 NFL Draft. If you haven’t already, familiarize yourself with CeeDee Lamb.

Henry Ruggs Declares for the NFL Draft

While watching film it is easy to see the speed and burst that Ruggs has, but it is another thing to also hear the announcers say “the fastest man on the field” and “the fastest guy on the Alabama team.” This big-play-potential wide receiver has decided to forgo his senior season at Alabama and make a name for himself in the big leagues. Let’s dive into it.

AFC East Divisional Nuggets: Year End

Josh Allen ends the season as your fantasy QB6 but he only averaged 18.6 FPPG. That’s only significant because you can find quarterbacks later in your drafts who could produce more this year. The good news is he threw for 1,000 more yards than his rookie year and doubled his touchdowns from 10 to 20 this year. He also decreased his interception percentage from 3.8 to 2.0. Allen is only in his second year and has plenty of room for improvement.
