Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Fire The Cannons!

Just a year ago people were debating if Tom Brady would resign with the Patriots. Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans were certainly not expecting his services in Tampa Bay. Fast forward to now and Brady practically owns the bay, now hearing it dubbed “Tompa Bay.” Additionally, he brought plenty of friends with him for the Super Bowl ride. The layers behind this win create an epic tale for Tom Brady, and there is now no questioning that he is beyond special, and that he just wins. Brady will continue to do things on the field that we only dream of doing in our own leagues: championship appearances, rings, etc.

Super Bowl LV: Path to Victory

I am sure that if you follow me on Twitter, (@FF_Derrick) it is no secret that I am a proud Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan. No, I did not board the ship at Raymond James Stadium in the summer of 2020 when Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady signed a two-year deal. I have been following the Buccaneers since my childhood. I promise to leave my love for my lifelong favorite team aside and give an honest evaluation of this Super Bowl.

Championship Week Storylines

This piece will give you something specific to look for in each contest, which I hope helps you enjoy the games even more. We all play fantasy football to enhance our enjoyment of football, and I’m trying to add to that sense of happiness here. Fun is the most essential part of this hobby for all of us, including me. I’ve listed the home team first for each game to keep things organized. I won’t waste any more time, so let’s jump straight in!

Super Wild Card Weekend Storylines: Saturday

I love writing these storyline pieces. Now that we’ve hit the playoffs, I want to cover all the games, bringing you at least something to think about when you watch the playoffs. Even though playoffs don’t count for our fantasy teams, playoff performances can have massive effects on future dynasty value. This piece will give you something specific to look for in each contest, which I hope helps you enjoy the games even more. NFC South: Divisional Nuggets

All of the receivers of relevance are on contract for next season, but it’s more of a question of who will be throwing to them? Michael Thomas has practically taken this year off, and I am sure we will see him emerge during the playoffs to remind people of his talent. Sanders has not been able to really step up in Thomas’s absence and the others have been injured as well off and on. Hope for a rebound with a better passer at QB next year, but if you can get a good return for Thomas I would consider it after this disappointing season.

Week 11 Buy/Sell

Happy Thanksgiving! What an amazing holiday this is. All I’m thinking about is mashed potatoes. I always make the mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving, no matter how many people are attending (I wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving). I do this because I need the mashed potatoes to be perfect on Thanksgiving. The mashed potatoes are the glue that binds the perfect Thanksgiving bite together. You take some turkey (dark meat for me, please), some stuffing, some gravy and add it to your mashed potatoes and you get the ultimate culinary delight. Nothing better than that.

NFC South: Divisional Nuggets

Brady has been better than expected for fantasy managers this year standing as the sixth overall quarterback through the last three weeks. Heading into the playoffs with him at the helm wouldn’t be the worst option, but looking past this season I am unsure if Brady returns. If the Bucs somehow manage to find their way to winning a championship, I can almost guarantee he rides off into the sunset with the trophy leaving Tampa to figure out another option because what they have behind him is nothing to be excited about.

NFC South: Divisional Nuggets

It seems like Brady has hit his stride with the Bucs’ weapons, and is producing nicely over the last few weeks while he bridges your team to your next quarterback. Through the last three games, he has jumped up the charts in yards per game from 20th to sixth and has the fourth most pass attempts. Brady has been his usual self in finding the open receiver and best option on most plays while distributing the ball evenly. For the rest of the season expect him to be a QB1 from week to week with how the Buccaneers are playing, but look for other options for the future while he is still doing well.

Week 6 IDP Wrap Up

The Tampa Bay defense put on a clinic Sunday afternoon in Florida. The squad put up five sacks, two interceptions and scored a touchdown while giving up only 201 yards and ten points to Green Bay. Shutting down the league’s most potent offense through four games will put the rest of the NFL on notice. Players who had nice IDP stats on the day include Devin White, Lavonte David, Carlton Davis, Jamel Dean, and Jason Pierre-Paul.

Against the Spread: NFL Week 5

For the ATS (against the spread) articles, I will provide analysis on three bets that I feel have the best chance at netting you a nice payday. Whether it be due to matchups, injuries, or other factors, these are the three bets I feel the most confident in placing. I will also make predictions on the rest of the week’s spreads. How about a little Thursday night action to get us started?

Raiding the IDP Waiver Wire: Week 5

Upon completion of one-quarter of the NFL season, we have enough evidence to conclude who players are and how they fit into their respective defenses. Players who we know are good finally made good on their preseason promise. Bengals’ RB Joe Mixon and Broncos’ EDGE Bradley Chubb reminded us why we drafted them. On the other hand, we should accept that Cardinals’ RB Kenyan Drake and Raiders’ LB Cory Littleton won’t be the studs that fuel our rosters in 2020.

NFC South: Divisional Nuggets

Brady has not been the world-beater of the past for your fantasy team this year and more than likely a bridge quarterback for your roster while you find future depth. Yet through three games the only disappointing statistic in his game log is that he is 20th in passing yards per game. Evans being hampered week one, and Godwin missing week two may have dampened his production through the start of the season, but against the Broncos he posted decent numbers for your team having all of his weapons back and healthy. Hopefully, the team will continue to gel, and the yards per game will increase, pushing him up from his 21st overall fantasy quarterback position.

Against the Spread: NFL Week 4

A great week as we went 2-1 on our in-depth picks and 11-5(!) overall! After some average 9-7 starts this was shot in the arm we were looking for. Our strategy of picking against the Jets continues to work to perfection and (spoiler alert) we’re going to roll with it again this week.  Unfortunately, Biscuits could not keep her hot streak going and fell to 2-1 on the season. No worries though, she told me she already has her next pick locked and loaded!

Dead to Me: Rob Gronkowski

I’m taking my dead to me series into the dynasty realm. At least, dynasty leagues will be the primary focus for me in this series in the future. Writing about dynasty makes more sense for a series on burying a player, as we look at the player’s value over time. Now, it’s time to put the final burial on Rob Gronkowski. I mentioned Gronkowski in a short blurb in a risers and fallers article this week, but he deserves his own article. For someone who was once a star, he should get a proper send-off.

Against the Spread: NFL Week 3

A perfect 3-0 on our in-depth picks is overshadowed by one of the worst injury days I’ve ever witnessed watching the NFL. While I primarily write on sports betting, I am also an avid fantasy football player. So trust me Barkley and CMC owners, I feel you. This was brutal. Overall we again went 9-7-0 bringing our record to 18-14-0. I suppose a net positive is a good thing but I’m still eager to get that really good week!

Scot Miller

Scott Miller: 2020 Dynasty Profile

The Buccaneers drafted Miller in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft as a deep wide receiver flier. Miller played four years at Bowling Green State University in the MAC conference. Even though he played at a smaller school, he dominated his team in receiving stats, gaining a bit of attention from NFL scouts. However, Miller had little chance to make an impact on the Buccaneers as a rookie in 2019. They had two star wide receivers in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin and a solid WR3 in Breshad Perriman. Additionally, the Buccaneers had two receiving tight ends with Cameron Brate and O.J. Howard and another depth receiver, 2018 fifth-round pick Justin Watson.

Looking Ahead to Week 3

In this weekly article, I’m going to look ahead to the following week. I’ll point out a few players below 50% owned on ESPN who have strong matchups next week that you can pick up ahead of time to beat the waiver run. I’ll also try and get ahead of breakouts that could happen in the current week, as predicting breakouts is the best way to save your FAAB budget.

Against the Spread: NFL Week 2

So the Jaguars… aren’t… tanking? Welcome to sports betting, where a team that has jettisoned off all of its talent somehow overcomes all odds to beat a team that went all-in on 2020. I’m sure I’m not the only one that got burned by Minshew Magic if my survivor pools are any indication. But, it still doesn’t take the sting out of it. At least we had a nice rebound with Washington pulling off the upset over a banged-up Eagles team. They’re not done yet, with defensive end Vinny Curry also suffering a significant injury. This will be a year to forget for Philadelphia. Overall we went 9-7-0, which isn’t the best but certainly not the worst. We will try to build on that this week.

Against the Spread: NFL Week 1 2020

Let’s start this year off spicy. Not only do I think the Redskins cover, I think they pull off the upset and beat the Eagles outright (+225 ML). I am firmly planting my flag that the Eagles will not be a good team this year. They have been absolutely ravaged by injuries and the season hasn’t even begun. The Eagles have lost their starting left tackle, right guard, and a whole host of receivers. Down two starters on their offensive line, who do the Eagles draw Week One? Just a Washington team boasting five first-round picks in their front seven. Couple this with the reported accuracy issues Carson Wentz is experiencing so far in camp, and I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Washington pull off the upset in this one.
