The Wire: Week 2

Welcome back, DFF family! In this new series, I will review three to five players each week that you should target on the waiver wire for your Dynasty teams. To keep the information in this series consistent, I will only refer to players with an ownership percentage of less than 50%, according to Sleeper Dynasty leagues. I’ll do my best to provide you with players that have a more long-term upside rather than a one-week ceiling, seeing that this is a Dynasty series and not Redraft. So sit back, relax, and let me find you some diamonds in the rough!

DFS with Doug

Welcome to Week 1 DFS, and congrats once again for making it through the offseason. Week 1 DFS is one of the most fun slates of the year for many reasons. Firstly, we have a lot of people playing DFS that will not be in future weeks. These people are putting in lineups without correlations or because they like this guy or that guy, and their lineups are dead on arrival. They are doing us all a favor by paying the rake for us. Secondly, the slate is made so far in advance of Week 1 that there are a bunch of silly good values. So many so that none of them become too chalky. You can build any lineups you want. Let’s build some GPP-winning lineups, shall we?

Devy Spotlight: Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter

In case you missed it this past weekend, Colorado traveled to Fort Worth to take on a ranked TCU team. The result was a 45-42 victory in a game that could end up being one of the best of the year in college football. Deion Sanders making the jump from Jackson State to Colorado has placed the Buffaloes firmly in the national spotlight, and he brought some fantastic football players with him. Perhaps the two brightest stars that joined Deion in Colorado are his son, Shedeur Sanders, and his favorite playmaker, Travis Hunter.

Greatest Hits of the 2023 Fantasy Offseason

Well, another long and winding fantasy offseason is finally at an end. As I type this sentence, we are just a couple of hours removed from the kickoff of Chiefs vs. Lions, so I thought it would be fun to look back at the “greatest hits” of the 2023 fantasy offseason. After all, who doesn’t love a good countdown?

Rookie Recap: Lions’ Rookies Gibbs and LaPorta Show Promise in Season Debut

The anticipation of the very first game of the NFL season was apparent. Me and my kids made sure to have everything done in the house before the game came on and they even got to watch a little before going to bed. But I’m sure that it was the same for many longing for the return of football. We got to see the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs take on the Detroit Lions on Thursday Night Football. And while that was the main draw, fantasy managers may have had their eyes on a different part of the game as did NFL betting enthusiasts in Michigan.

Sifting through the Colts’ Chaos: What Should You Do With Your Indianapolis Players?

The Colts managed to make August an extremely stressful month for fantasy managers who roster any of their key offensive position players. Anthony Richardson was named the starter behind an injured offensive line, their starting all-pro running back is in a stand-off with the front office over a new contract, their young tight end was placed on injured reserve, and all but three wide receivers were cut before the deadline.

Week 1 Year 1 Players To Watch

It’s time to wrap it up and enjoy the point-scoring season in its glory. With the season setting to get underway, and sports bettors itching for NFL action, I thought it would be beneficial to summarize and discuss some of the most exciting and important year-one players and narratives to watch as we head into Week 1 with so much excitement and uncertainty.

The DFF DFS Primer

This season, I will be giving you DFS (Daily Fantasy Sports) for every Sunday’s main slate. With that being said, it would be difficult to write it every week if I had to derive all this stuff from first principles before I could even touch the individual week at hand. If you are referencing this article for a particular term that you are unaware of, please scroll to the bottom of this article for an appendix of commonly used DFS terms. If there is a term in a future article that you do not understand, please reach out to me on Twitter.

Zachariah Branch – Freshman Phenom

College football is finally back, and last Saturday, we got to see 2022 Heisman winner Caleb Williams lead his USC Trojans to a dominant win versus the Spartans of San Jose State in Week 0. Caleb showed us why he’s the heavy favorite to hoist the Heisman trophy again in 2023, posting 18/25 passing, 278 yards, and 4 TDs in the game. We’ve come to expect this from the future 1.01 in 2024 Superflex rookie drafts. I mean, just look at the play below; is this not Patrick Mahomes-esque? Williams turned a potential disaster of a play into a homerun ball and made it look easy.

Bold Predictions for 2023 Dynasty

Bold prediction articles are some of my favorite types of content to research before drafts. In preparing for my drafts, I always have specific players I want to target who I believe are values vs. their average draft position. Bold prediction articles highlight these players that analysts make cases for being better than their ADP. Do I expect the bold prediction to come true? No. But directionally, the goal is for that player to outperform their ADP. If the bold part of it comes true, that is just the proverbial cherry on top.

Who’s the WR1 in the 2025 Class?

I decided to expand on my Evan Stewart Devy Profile piece and do a comparison article on the three WRs in this 2025 class who appear to be vying for that WR1 spot in Devy. These three players are Luther Burden, Evan Stewart, and Barion Brown. First, let me give a brief overview of each prospect profile coming out of high school.
