DFF In-Season Startup: Valuing the 2024 Rookie Class

This article will be centered around the incoming rookies, along with my current projections for where they will be taken in a Superflex startup draft. For flexibility, I have broken down the best of the rookies into tiers since we have to wait a while longer until we find out their NFL draft capital and team situations. Below, I have listed my current Superflex rankings with a tier break to separate each group of players. I will then take a deeper dive into each of the players listed to provide a better idea of where they (or their potential 2024 dynasty draft picks) should be considered throughout the DFF mock draft.

DFF Dynasty SF PPR Mock Draft Review: Positional Breakdown

For all but two teams, the NFL season is over. There are no more lineups to set or waiver claims to make, which can only mean one thing: the dynasty offseason is upon us. At this time of year, which is really like its own game within the game, mock drafts are incredibly valuable. They help us to understand how the public perception of players (say that five times fast) has shifted over the past several months. Even if you donโ€™t plan on joining any new startups, a mock draft can help you to identify playersโ€“or even whole positionsโ€“that are over or undervalued by the community. Since I recently completed a startup mock draft with some of my friends here at DFF, I thought I would share some of my observations with you.

Let’s Fix the Snake Draft: Third-Round Reversal

The Dynasty Football Factory gathered once more to partake in a 12-team redraft league mock draft! But this time, we shook things up. We went with tight end premium scoring, as well as 0.25 points per carry. The tight end premium doesnโ€™t raise the value of all tight ends, but it does create an even larger gap between the top and the rest. The point per carry adds a little bit more value to your bell-cow running backs. The biggest change? Third-Round Reversal.

Redraft TE Premium .25 PPC Third-Round Reversal Draft Review

Recently, the @DFF_Dynasty crew joined up for a redraft mock draft. The format was: start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 3 Flex, 6 bench spots, and PPR scoring. We also added a few twists, with 1.5 PPR tight end premium scoring, 0.25 points per carry, and third-round reversal drafting. As usual, I didnโ€™t come into the draft with a set strategy. I planned to take value at my picks, and I wanted to have an open mind. However, I knew that the TE premium scoring would vault tight ends up on my board and that 0.25 PPC is a massive boost to volume running backs. Therefore, I decided to focus on securing running back and tight end early, especially since we only required two WR starters in this league.

Karp’s DFF Redraft Mock

Recently, the @DFF_Redraft crew joined up for a redraft mock draft. The format was: start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 2 Flex, 6 bench spots, and PPR scoring. It was the first time this offseason that we did a mock with three starting wide receivers, so I was curious to see how that small change affected my strategy and the other draftersโ€™ strategy.

DFF Army Redraft Mock Wrap-Up

Mock drafts are the best way to prepare for your real drafts. Practice makes perfect, and coming to your draft prepared is the best way to ensure youโ€™ll be happy with your team coming out of a draft. The importance of mocks canโ€™t be understated. Some fantasy players wonโ€™t even look at the research and will trust a cheat sheet they download minutes before the draft or even the rankings in the draft that they are doing. Trust your own rankings and thoughts on players at the end of the day do your homework. Donโ€™t rely on what you are told or what is on the list during the draft. Fantasy is fun and one of the best ways to stay informed on where players will go in your drafts is by doing mocks.
