Kyle Pitts: A Unicorn Without Its Horn

A unicorn without its horn is still a very special horse. Its defining characteristic is lost, but it’s easy to see that the magic is still there. When I think of magic (and more importantly, unicorns), I don’t imagine white manes, rainbows, or holographic elementary school backpacks. I think of Kyle Pitts. His “magic” comes in the form of ridiculous workout metrics, delectable college production, and tantalizing size. His “horn” is his TE designation. Come with me on a different type of fantasy journey as we explore the fate of Kyle Pitts’ dynasty value if he were to lose his TE designation.

Fantasy Stock Up, Stock Down: Chicago Bears

Welcome back to the “Fantasy Stock Up, Stock Down” series (off-season edition). Yes, there are still games to be played, but as a Dynasty manager, it’s never too early to start preparing for the next fantasy season. We don’t know what final rosters will look like to start next season, and we don’t know who each team will look to acquire in the draft/free agency. The “offseason edition” of this series is an early look at whose stock is up and whose stock is down going into the offseason. We will break down each NFL team. This week is all about the Chicago Bears.

2021 Dynasty Profile: Darnell Mooney

After being selected 173rd overall in the fifth round of last year’s NFL Draft, Mooney emerged as one of the most productive wide receivers for the Chicago Bears QUICKLY. In the Bears’ Week 1 matchup against the Lions, he hauled in three receptions for 38 yards, but you could see the potential in him right away. From then on, he produced at least two receptions per game throughout his rookie season.

2021 Redraft: Mark’s Positional “My Guys”

In 2QB leagues, Derek Carr is sitting as QB25 and is the 102nd player off the board. He isn’t very flashy and in dynasty, he would offer minimal value. But when you take away the questions of long-term value he offers a high upside play as you close out the 8th round. He is a great second or 3rd QB in 2QB leagues, especially if you’re drafting a rookie such as Justin Fields or Trey Lance, who will likely not start for their team at the opening of the season.

Fantasy Stock Up, Stock Down: NFC North

Welcome back to the “Fantasy Stock Up, Stock Down” series. The NFC North is the eighth and final divisional breakdown. Check out other breakdowns by clicking on each respective division (AFC North, NFC West, AFC West, NFC South, AFC South, NFC East, AFC East) here at DFF. Keep in mind, there will be a player whose stock is up and a player whose stock is down from each team in this division. Enjoy.

Kyle Pitts’ Valuation: Tight End vs. Wide Receiver

The year was 2014, amongst many other discrepancies in the world, Jimmy Graham changed his Twitter bio to inform the world that he was a wide receiver, not a tight end. An NFL arbitrator had to step in and rule on this case. Why is this important? Because Jimmy Graham was franchised tagged by the New Orleans Saints and wanted to be designated as a wide receiver rather than a tight end. Graham lined up split out on 67% of the Saints snaps the previous season. If Graham had been designated as a wide receiver, he would have made 71% more money on his franchise tender than as a tight end. The NFL arbitrator ruled that Graham was a tight end, saving Mickey Loomis millions of dollars.

Dynasty Risers and Fallers Week 16

Dynasty Risers and Fallers Week 16

In this weekly piece, I will bring you some risers and fallers from a dynasty lens. Whether it’s injuries, performance, or value, I want to discuss how players have moved around. Based on the week’s events, I’ll give some advice on how to act on the market’s movement, whether it’s buying, selling, or holding.

I won’t limit myself to talking about any specific players or teams because I want to have the freedom to discuss whatever is most relevant. Also, of course, there are more risers and fallers than those I’m listing. However, it’s impossible to cover every single one of them, as dynasty values change weekly for many players. With that said, let’s jump into the risers first, followed by the fallers.

Week 12 Streamers

In this streaming article, I will provide you the best weekly options to stream quarterback, tight end, and D/ST. In each section, I’ll break down two streamers in detail, both of which will be under 50% owned, according to ESPN’s ownership percentage at the time of writing. Playing the matchups is a crucial feature of redraft fantasy football, and especially in a crazy 2020 season, active fantasy owners will have a massive advantage.

Start/Sit Week 6

You guys might be wondering why you’re hearing from me since I don’t typically do the start/sit article for DFF. Well, @fantasyfreezer is on vacation, so I’m filling in for him this week. I’ll try to keep the same format and bring you good start/sit advice for the week. I won’t discuss obvious starts or sits, but I’ll focus on borderline players where fantasy owners might have difficult decisions. With that said, let’s jump straight into it.

Week 6 Streamers

In this streaming article, I will provide you the best weekly options to stream quarterback, tight end, and D/ST. Playing the matchups is a crucial feature of redraft fantasy football, and especially in a crazy 2020 season, active fantasy owners will have a massive advantage. This week, the NFL made a bunch of schedule changes which, of course, changes my streaming recommendations. The Chargers now have a Week 6 bye, whereas before, they had a game against the Jets. Of course, I liked the Chargers’ options in that game, but they’re now unavailable.

I’m also assuming there will be no further schedule changes and that the NFL sticks to the schedule referenced in that link. Make sure to check your league’s waiver timing, as that may have changed with a Tuesday game this week. With all that out of the way, let’s jump into the streamers.

Start/Sit Week 4

Each and every week, I’ll be covering a handful of players that I believe will either exceed expectations or let your team down in a major way. Here’s who you should be looking at for Week 4. Minshew flopped against the Dolphins on Thursday Night Football, but I’m going back to the well in Week 4. He’s got a soft matchup against the Bengals, and the return of D.J. Chark should give the whole offense a boost.

Tarik Cohen Extension and the Bears’ Future

Surprisingly, the Bears signed Tarik Cohen to a 3-year extension that grants him $17.25 million in new money. The Bears fully guaranteed Cohen $9.5 million with a possibility of $2.5 million in additional guarantees. Cohen’s deal looks similar to the contract that the Browns gave their backup/third-down back Kareem Hunt, although Hunt’s average annual salary is slightly higher.

Sleeper Series: Allen Lazard

After writing my redraft team breakdown series, I decided to start a new series as we approach the 2020 fantasy season. Every week, or probably more often than that, I’m going to bring you one fantasy sleeper representing a massive value in 2020 redraft leagues. All the links to previous articles are at the bottom of the article. In the first article, I detailed my methodology behind this series, so go back and read that piece if you haven’t yet! Now, I want to take a look at Jamison Crowder. My friend @DocFFN recently wrote a free dynasty profile on Crowder, but I wanted to look at Crowder’s redraft prospects. I also wanted to take more of a long-form approach, as the dynasty free profiles are quick-hitters. Anyway, Crowder might play for the hapless Jets, but I think he deserves some attention as a sleeper for 2020 PPR redraft leagues. Let’s get into why.

Redraft Team Focus: Bears

I’m analyzing every one of the 32 NFL teams and all of their redraft-relevant fantasy assets in this article series. It’s a long project, but I want to make sure that you, the reader, have something you can refer to for every team. For each article, I’ll split up the fantasy assets into three categories: high-end assets, usable contributors, and dart throws. Let’s jump into the Bears.

2020 NFL Draft Winners/Losers

The NFL Draft is all about improving a team and injecting youth into a roster. The 2020 NFL Draft specifically has been highly touted as one of the best classes in years and comes at a time when people need something to take their minds off of our real-world problems. Much like years past, things haven’t gone as expected and front offices have made some head-scratching selections.
