The Waiver Wire: Week 12

Some weeks your best strategy is to keep your FAAB in your wallets and save it for another day. This is not one of those weeks. Though not especially deep, there are some quality options available this week. Several running backs will be in line for significant workloads. There is also a receiving back who could help your team in the playoff chase. If you’re looking towards 2020 already, there’s a player or two to stash at the bottom of your rosters.

Who to get for the Fantasy Playoffs?

Speaking of quarterbacks that you can get off of waivers unless somebody in your league did this already, we have Nick Foles. Normally, I wouldn’t touch good ol’ St. Nick in fantasy. However, he plays the Raiders and the Falcons during fantasy playoffs, which will make virtually anybody a potential starter. The Raiders and Falcons are two of the teams that allow the most fantasy points to quarterbacks. That’s not good unless you’re starting a quarterback that plays against them, which you can do in back-to-back weeks with Foles in the fantasy playoffs.

Cam Newton to IR

Superman’s season is over and his Kryptonite is the Lisfranc injury, a condition in which the long bones in your foot are displaced. Newton originally suffered the injury during the preseason, but reaggravated it in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There were hopes that he could return initially, but those faded away as his timetable for recovery became more and more uncertain.

Nick Foles Named Starter, Gardner Minshew To Bench (For Now)

On Tuesday Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone announced that Nick Foles will start over Gardner Minshew when the team returns from its bye in week 11 against the Indianapolis Colts.  The Jaguars have elected to go with the quarterback they signed for $88 million this past offseason to be the starter. Foles went down when

The Waiver Wire: Week 10 (Updated)

Another week another injury at the quarterback position. I’ve reminded you of this in the past, but I’ll do it once more. If backup quarterbacks are sitting on your Superflex leagues waiver wires, pick them up. Week 10 is the week with the most teams on bye with six. Denver, Houston, Jacksonville, New England, Philadelphia, and Washington are all off this week.

AFC East Factory Divisional Nuggets: Week 8

Parker has caught 50 yards or a touchdown in each of the last four games. It’s no surprise his targets and production have increased since Ryan Fitzpatrick was named the starter. He’s received 8 targets and is the WR20 in the two games with Fitzpatrick as the starter. Parker has one of the highest average depths of target (aDot) (15.5) among receivers with over 30 targets. He has a higher aDot than Kenny Golladay and Mike Williams. He’s also tied for fifth in average targeted air yards (15.4) among pass catchers. Look for him on your waivers if available. Otherwise, stash him if you got him. It doesn’t appear he will be traded — one of the few pieces the Fins are willing to hang on to.

To be, or not to be (in the playoffs)? That is the question

Week 8 of the NFL season is in the books. Yes, you read that correctly. After an agonizingly long off-season, we are past the halfway mark of the fantasy football regular season (assuming your playoffs start in Week 14*). That means it is time to objectively evaluate our rosters, and scrutinize each position group with

The Waiver Wire: Week 9 (Updated)

After Week 8 had just two teams on bye, Week 9 sees four teams with the week off. The Cincinnati Bengals, Atlanta Falcons, Los Angeles Rams, and New Orleans Saints are all off this week along with some high powered fantasy assets. This week’s waiver wire isn’t the strongest so you may want to be a bit frugal. If you don’t have any pressing needs this would be a good week to hold on to your FAAB bucks or your waiver priority. There are some deeper options though if you’re in need. Let’s get to it.

Jace Sternberger (TE)
The promising rookie looks to be set for a return from IR soon, as he is back at practice. I wouldn’t look for him to take the starting role from Jimmy Graham any time in the near future, but if you need a nice flier at the position, now would be the last time to pick him up before playing time increases his price.

NFC East Factory Divisional Nuggets 6-7

Terry McLaurin (WR)Week 6: 4-100-2 (SNP% 97)Week 7: 1-11 (SNP% 98)
Terry McLaurin still proves to be the only wide receiver in Washington that you can put in your lineup with any confidence. He lit up the Dolphins for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only 4 receptions (seven targets). The rain put a damper on his game against San Francisco, where Washington was held scoreless. The Vikings are a middle of the road pass defense while the Bills are a top-five, so you may need to temper expectations. The Redskins should be playing from behind in both games, so McLaurin should have value since they will be needing to throw often.

Sanu to New England

The Patriots have been in the market for a receiver. Still, the move came as a bit of a shocker, mainly due to the Patriots giving up what most consider precious draft capital. Even if Belichick disagrees. The acquisition makes more sense after learning wide receiver Josh Gordon is being placed on the IR due to two severe bone bruises in his knee. Ian Rapoport reports the team will be moving on, and his time in New England is over. It appears the Patriots were aware of the injury before the trade, making the Sanu addition a virtual necessity.

The Waiver Wire: Week 8

After a relatively calm few weeks on the injury front, injuries came back with a vengeance this week At this point of the season, you’re often left hoping to just find players to fill your roster out from the waiver wire. Because of a few key injuries, there could be players you pick up this week that not only win you a week but actually save your season. Fortuitously only two teams are on bye in Week 8, Dallas, and Baltimore (yet there are six teams on bye in Week 10 for some reason). Let’s dig in!
