Todd Gurley

Brian Hill

Brian Hill: 2020 Dynasty Profile

Like most deep dynasty stashes, I wouldn’t recommend trading for Hill. He could even be on waiver wires in some leagues, as Smith carries more name recognition than Hill. If you can grab Hill as a throw-in as part of a larger deal or for free, he’s likely my favorite stash right now. Gurley carries such a high injury risk, and Hill’s path to relevant touches is clear.

The 2020 Exposure Report

When it comes to fantasy football, we fall in love every year. During our offseason research, sleepers and favorites emerge. There are guys every season that you just have to have. But how many of those guys actually end up on your team? As buzz grows around your favorite players, ADP becomes your enemy and can end up thwarting your plans. All of a sudden, the guy you were getting in the seventh round of mock drafts all offseason costs you a fourth. You’re not alone. Here is my 2020 exposure report. It contains guys who I have a lot invested in based on where I could get them and some dudes who I wish I could have drafted more often.

Zach’s Championship DFF Redraft Recap

Getting the invite to a Dynasty Football Factory redraft league with 11 other fantasy football writers was intimidating, to say the least. But, you have to play with the big boys if you want to get better. We have some of the smartest minds in fantasy football in this league and I think I came away with a pretty decent team. Join me as I take you through the thought process of my first nine picks in this 12-team redraft PPR league.

Week 1 Streamers

In this streaming article, I will provide you the best weekly options to stream quarterback, tight end, and D/ST. In each section, I’ll break down two streamers in detail, both of which will be under 50% owned, according to ESPN’s ownership percentage at the time of writing. Playing the matchups is a crucial feature of redraft fantasy football and, especially in a crazy 2020 season, active fantasy owners will have a massive advantage. I also want to provide added value for each type of streamer this season. I’ll highlight any players from 50-60% owned in each section if they’re superior options to both of my streaming candidates at that specific position. Those players are “probably owned,” but they could be out there in 10-team or shallower formats. I won’t offer analysis on these players, just the names and matchups. If neither of my two suggested streamers is under 25% ownership percentage, I will give a “super-deep” option. That feature should help those owners playing in deeper leagues with few waiver-wire options. Like the “probably owned” players, I’ll list the players without analysis. I realize that all leagues are different, and I want to accommodate all of my readers.

Even though it’s Week 1, many fantasy drafts happened a while ago, and now fantasy owners are looking for streamers. Let’s jump into it!

The Guide: A Round-by-Round Roadmap to Acing Your 2020 Fantasy Draft

I get the same email every year. It usually comes in the first couple of days in September. It’s from a friend who I used to work with. This person is extremely competitive; the kind of person who hates losing more than loves winning. The email is a call for help. My friend knows almost nothing about fantasy football, but wants to crush the people in the fantasy league she was invited to a few years back. I love writing the reply because it allows me to finalize my draft strategy after months of mock drafts and research. This year, I’m happy to make that strategy public. Here it is… the guide!

Let’s Fix the Snake Draft: Third-Round Reversal

The Dynasty Football Factory gathered once more to partake in a 12-team redraft league mock draft! But this time, we shook things up. We went with tight end premium scoring, as well as 0.25 points per carry. The tight end premium doesn’t raise the value of all tight ends, but it does create an even larger gap between the top and the rest. The point per carry adds a little bit more value to your bell-cow running backs. The biggest change? Third-Round Reversal.

2020 Freaks Part Five

2020 College Football Freaks: Devy Impact Part Five

Every year, The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman publishes his College Football Freaks List. This list garners data from college programs and highlights the players that are wowing the staff both on and off the gridiron. In year’s past, we saw names like Saquon Barkley, Jonathan Taylor, Noah Fant, and Todd Gurley, among a long list of defensive studs and offensive line standouts namely Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney. We can garner a lot of information from the list that Bruce puts out, especially in deeper devy and Campus to Canton leagues. Let’s dive into the 2020 College Football Freaks List.

In this series, we will identify a high-value devy player who will likely maintain their high value or rise further. A middling valued player who you can steal and reap the big returns once they test at the NFL Combine, or their pro-day. As well as a sleeper who with a good season of production could return a serious increase in value.

Fantasy MVP Hangover: RB Edition

Fantasy MVP Hangover: RBs

I started playing fantasy football in 2006. That was the year LaDainian Tomlinson set the fantasy (and NFL) world on fire. He rushed for over 1,800 yards, caught 56 passes for over 500 yards, and scored 31 total touchdowns. Tomlinson scored a whopping 453 half-PPR points that season. He was the RB1 by a margin of 82 points. That fact is even more incredible when you realize that only eight running backs have topped 350 half-PPR points in the last 14 years, and two of those guys did it the same season as Tomlinson. That’s right, three of the top eight running back seasons of my entire fantasy football life came in that 2006 season. Of course, the league was different back then. Derrick Henry led all running backs in carries last year with 303. That would have tied for tenth in 2006. Tenth!

Risers and Fallers

Risers and Fallers

As we approach the redraft season, I want to begin a new series of recent risers and fallers based on events happening in the fantasy football world. In each article, I’ll give you two risers and two fallers. There are many reasons that a player could move up or move down, so I’ll cover various situations throughout this article series.

Le'Veon Bell Dynasty Profile

Le’Veon Bell: 2020 Dynasty Profile

It’s been trying times for Le’Veon Bell owners over the last few years. Not only did he hold out the entire 2018 season due to contract disputes but he then signed with the New York Jets in 2019 and was quickly accursed with the Adam Gase hex. 2019 was Bell’s first year under four yards-per-carry since his rookie season (2013) and the lowest target total since he was injured in 2015. He received his lowest carry total (245) since his rookie season, when healthy. Bell finished with 78 targets but if you watched any Jets games you know he was underutilized in the passing attack. Especially considering the lack of short target weapons other than Jamison Crowder. Bell scored just three rushing touchdowns and still finished as the RB16 in PPR leagues last year despite being hindered by the coaching staff and lack of talent surrounding him. Missing the entire 2018 season likely also affected his performance but I’d expect him to be fully reacclimated going forward.

matt ryan

Matt Ryan: 2020 Dynasty Profile

As a dynasty asset, I believe Matt Ryan is fairly valued at QB10 by MFL ADP. Because he is 35, his value is sinking, with him being passed up by the younger QB with more perceived upside. However, if you are contending, Matt Ryan is a great option for your team. I believe you can lock Matt Ryan into a top 12 finish in 2020, making him a fantastic QB2 on a SuperFlex team or a very solid QB1 in a standard league. At 35 years old, Ryan still appears to have plenty in the tank. It is safe to bet on Ryan playing for another 3-4 years, but it would also not surprise me if Ryan plays into his 40s like Brady and Brees.

#TomBomb: Miami Dolphins

#TomBomb: Miami Dolphins

So let’s get this breakdown started with a little context. While I am plugging Matt Breida in at #3, here, I am prefacing it with the spoiler that his fellow backfield running-mate is grabbing that coveted #1 spot. Nonetheless, by investing pennies on the dollar for Breida, you could very well be stealing this year’s Austin Ekeler. Yes, I just said that. Do I have your attention, now? Okay, maybe Old Tom got a little bit carried away. However, I’m still going to hold to the belief that Breida offers you some real potential value.

Redraft Mock Analysis

PPR Redraft Mock Analysis

I recently took part in a 1QB, PPR redraft mock with eleven other members of the DFF crew. I was very happy with the results, so I’d like to break down my team and my decision-making process throughout the draft. I entered the draft planning to select RBs in the first three rounds before addressing any other positions. This strategy, which I broke down in great detail here, is one I’ve been implementing whenever possible this offseason. I expected to target WR in the middle rounds while waiting to get my QB and TE late, which worked out perfectly.

2020 rookie busts part two

2020 Rookie Busts Part Two

The 2020 rookie class was a loaded group that had dynasty owners’ attention for years. I’ve written about the class three separate times: before the NFL Draft, live during the NFL Draft, and about a month ago. I’ve included all the links to those previous series at the bottom of the page. However, in those articles, I focused on the rookies from a redraft perspective and how they will impact redraft rosters in 2020.

A Redraft Journey: Melvin Gordon

In April, I started writing a series focusing on one player at a time, called “A Redraft Journey.” Like my “Dead to Me” series, I take a deep dive into a single player, breaking down their entire career in redraft fantasy football. However, unlike that series, this set of articles is meant to be more positively toned. I’m excited to get back to writing it, and I’m returning with a full breakdown of Melvin Gordon. He’s had an exciting roller-coaster ride both in the NFL and for fantasy owners, so let’s jump into it!

Redraft Team Focus: Falcons

I’m analyzing every one of the 32 NFL teams and all of their redraft-relevant fantasy assets in this article series. It’s a long project, but I want to make sure that you, the reader, have something you can refer to for every team. For each article, I’ll split up the fantasy assets into three categories: high-end assets, usable contributors, and dart throws. Let’s jump into the Falcons.
