Welcome to Week 5, which is one of my favorite weeks. Why? We now have four weeks of proof points and data to paint a picture of who a team is, and what players’ roles are becoming. It’s an opportunity to start forming conclusions based on this season rather than heavily relying on data from last year and the summer. That said, it’s shaped up as quite a strange main slate for Sunday. There aren’t many games that scream for points to be scored, and there also aren’t many QB spots that stand out. However, I do see some hidden opportunity in some of the matchups, especially those with smaller totals that some might overlook for DFS. There is also a higher point total game that I will be building my own lineups around.

Dynasty Data Trendz: Week 2

Fantasy point production is not always the best predictor of future fantasy point production. One blown coverage or short touchdown can instantly make a player’s otherwise pedestrian week look great for fantasy..

This is where usage trends come in. A player’s usage is a better predictor of what kind of future fantasy production we should expect. You can use this to target Dynasty owners who may be otherwise disenchanted with a low macro fantasy output, while you know the underlying factors are healthy. On the other hand, you can also utilize usage trends to see which players may have a concerning trend relative to their historical valuation that you may want to consider trading.

2. Target Share Leaders through Week 2

Jaxon Smith-Njigba – 44.0%

3. Could we see the first-ever 40% target share season from JSN this year? He currently sits at a staggering 44%.

4. From a Dynasty buy standpoint, Christian Watson is very interesting. Watson has always been a premier yards-per-route, run performer. However, he has never been a premier target earner. When you combine those two, you get a WR1. He is priced as the WR27 by the Dynasty community on Keep Trade Cut. 

5. I wrote this in last week’s article: “I would be buying Stefon Diggs as a contender. He is probably the best option you can get for a 3rd that will be a reliable starter. Jayden Daniels was running for his life. Diggs is a reliable quick outlet, whereas McLaurin is a downfield threat.” Diggs obliged with a stout 21.7 fantasy points in Week 2.

6. In case you had any reservations about Parker Washington. Remove them. He is 100% the real deal, Holyfield.

Hammer’s DFS Hammers for NFL Week 1

My last name is Hammer. I’m not going to pretend this article’s name is an accident. This isn’t a weekly column, because most weeks I won’t have enough to say. I write these when a slate actually lines up – when the numbers, the narratives, the beat reports from practice, the under-the-radar role changes, and the injury report all point in the same direction towards players. Week 1 is one of those weeks. Prices were locked in earlier this summer, and a lot of what we’re betting on now is how guys finished the 2025 season, plus whether camp backed it up. That’s a real edge if you’re paying attention. I’ve got five names this week. They aren’t on the same team, and they don’t have the same role. What they share is that the close of 2025 still looks better than their price, their summer backed up what we saw last year, and Sunday’s matchup gives them a reason to eat. That’s the swing. Preseason in a Nutshell: Rapid Fire Style

Let’s be honest: We are all busy. We can’t watch every preseason snap, coaches’ press conferences, or injury post on X. For all those who love fantasy football but aren’t complete degenerates like us, this article is for you: Concise nuggets of fantasy-relevant news in an easy-to-digest format.

Here I will wrap up the whole preseason in a neat, tidy article.

1. Kyler Murray is the Vikings’ starting QB. The KOC-era Vikings are perennially one of the top passing teams in the league. Murray is a Konami QB with the rushing upside fantasy managers want. You want him on your roster this year.

2. Jahan Dotson is in line to be the Falcons WR2. He played 100% of the snaps with the starters in their first preseason game.

3. Luther Burden was taking souls in practice. Ben Johnson stated he is destined to be one of the NFL’s best receivers.  He has the work ethic and desire to be the best.  The hype was palpable. Then he got injured. X was abuzz, waiting for an update. There were talks of tendon tears. Then we got notice it was a groin injury, and he may only miss a couple of games.

4. The Jaguars running back room looks like a gross timeshare that you don’t want a part of for fantasy. In practice, it has often been Bhaysul Tuten on 1st and 2nd downs, Lequint Allen on 3rd down. Then, when they get inside the 10, Chris Rodriguez has been seeing the bulk of the carries.

5. Staying in Jacksonville, Parker Washington has continued his momentum from last year and has been the most targeted wide receiver in camp.

6. Jayden Higgins was having a great camp. Unfortunately, he tore his ACL and is now gone for the season.

7. The Cleveland QB battle was a real battle. Todd Monken has not named who the starting QB will be between Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders.  Either way, you do not want either of these starting on your Dynasty roster.

8. Caleb Douglas and Malik Washington appear to have separated themselves from the pack as the top 2 wide receivers for Miami based on pre-season usage with the starters.

Parker Washington: Buy the Hype or Fade the Noise?

Parker Washington has seen an incredible surge in dynasty value over the past 12 months, climbing from outside the top 100 wide receivers this time last year to WR31 overall today, according to KeepTradeCut. This is due in large part to Washington’s strong end to the 2025 NFL season, racking up 26 receptions, 454 yards, and three touchdowns over Jacksonville’s final four games (regular season + playoffs). Since then, we’ve seen nothing but bullish news out of OTAs and training camp regarding Washington. 

On the other hand, this was a former Day 3 pick who barely cracked 500 receiving yards through his first two NFL seasons. Was he simply reaping the benefit of Travis Hunter landing on IR and Brian Thomas Jr. battling his own set of injuries on the field? Has the Parker Washington hype gone too far, or is he here to stay? Let’s find out. 

College Profile

Parker Washington was a 4-star recruit and a top-50 receiver in the country coming out of high school, according to 247 Sports. He played all three of his college seasons at Penn State, amassing 1,900 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns in Happy Valley. From an analytical perspective, he was pretty underwhelming, posting a career 20.9% target rate and 1.91 yards per route run. 

Washington was an early declare, despite posting relatively pedestrian numbers. He ultimately went in Round 6 of the NFL Draft, which we rarely see from early declares now. Washington technically had two years of eligibility remaining, having played his freshman season during the COVID season. It’s very possible he’d have taken a big step forward had he stayed in college (and transferred to a more pass-friendly environment). NIL deals at this time were not nearly as lucrative as they are today, which surely played into his decision. 

Early NFL Career

Parker Washington began his NFL career as a part-time player, buried on the depth chart behind guys like Calvin Ridley, Evan Engram, and Christian Kirk (all still technically in their prime). Washington had his opportunity to flourish in 2024 with Calvin Ridley gone, plus Christian Kirk and Evan Engram hurt for much of the season. However, rookie Brian Thomas Jr. emerged as the WR1 and dominated target share, leaving Washington as an afterthought. 

Despite running nearly 400 routes in 2024, Washington managed only 32 receptions, 390 yards, and three touchdowns. His 13.3% target rate and 1.02 yards per route run on the season were dismal marks, and ones that typically suggest your time in the NFL is numbered. 

In terms of dynasty value, Washington was a roster clogger at best through two seasons. In most leagues, he went undrafted in dynasty rookie drafts in 2023, bouncing from random rosters to the waiver wire.
