Damien Harris: 2020 Dynasty Profile

The Patriots selected Harris with the 87th overall pick in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. They had a relatively crowded backfield at the time, consisting of 2019 first-round pick Sony Michel, pass-catcher James White, and veteran Rex Burkhead. Given Michel’s relatively inefficient performances as a rookie, some people thought that Harris could challenge for the starting role. Even if Harris wouldn’t be the immediate starter, I believed he could compete with Michel for early-down work, alongside White as the third-down back.

Dynasty Risers and Fallers Week 5

Dynasty Risers and Fallers Week 5

In this weekly piece, I will bring you some risers and fallers from a dynasty lens. Whether it’s injuries, performance, or value, I want to discuss how players have moved around. Based on the week’s events, I’ll give some advice on how to act on the market’s movement, whether it’s buying, selling, or holding.

I won’t limit myself to talking about any specific players or teams because I want to have the freedom to discuss whatever is most relevant. Also, of course, there are more risers and fallers than those I’m listing. However, it’s impossible to cover every single one of them, as dynasty values change weekly for many players. With that said, let’s jump into the risers first, followed by the fallers.

Looking Ahead to Week 5

In Week 3, Valdes-Scantling did little with Davante Adams out. He only had one reception for five yards on four targets. However, we recently learned that teammate Allen Lazard will miss significant time with a core muscle injury. Therefore, Valdes-Scantling will be the Packers’ WR2 for the foreseeable future. Adams is also continuing to recover from a hamstring injury. While I expect Adams to return in Week 4 and play, hamstring injuries can reoccur at any time. In that event, Valdes-Scantling would inherit a massive target share, as the Packers have an extremely thin WR depth chart. As Lazard’s injury news came across recently, most waiver wires have already run for the week. Therefore, you might be able to sneak Valdes-Scantling onto your roster in free agency before he’s a popular claim next week.

Stay ahead of the curve with Old Tom’s weekly dynasty stash…and potential redraft gems! After all your league mates cash in on their waiver claims, you can sneak in and pick up next week’s potential hot commodities. Is every one of these moves a dynasty steal? No. However, lest we never forget that Old Tom firmly believes great dynasties are built upon the shoulders of GM’s who never forget the importance of the now. Good luck, friends!

Dynasty Story: Devin Singletary

In a dynasty story, I’ll look at a single player and how his value has fluctuated over time, starting from their college profile. I’ll factor in his NFL stats and generally discuss what he did in each of his NFL seasons. Then, I’ll look at his 2020 prospects before wrapping it up with a final recommendation and dynasty strategy.  Today, it’s time for a deep dive into Devin Singletary. Let’s jump right in!

Today, it’s time for a deep dive into Dante Pettis. Is there any hope for a revival in his value, or is Pettis done? Let’s jump right in!

Lamar Miller Redraft Reaction

I’ve done a bunch of reaction articles throughout the offseason, but they were all from a dynasty lens. At this point in the offseason, the season is in sight, so any moves have a more direct effect on 2020 redraft leagues. We know far more about each team’s depth chart, so it’s far easier to slot any new additions into a role. I broke down the Patriots for redraft in June, but so much has changed since then. The Patriots signed Cam Newton to replace Jarrett Stidham at quarterback. Also, we received news that Sony Michel had offseason foot surgery, leaving him in a race to be ready for the start of the season. That’s where Lamar Miller comes into play. As he’s an older veteran running back, Miller doesn’t carry much dynasty value, but he makes a massive impact on the Patriots’ backfield in 2020. I’ll begin with Miller, and then move into how I’ve moved each other Patriots’ running back based on his signing. Let’s jump into it!

#TomBomb: New England Patriots

One thing Old Tom always likes to do is open up the lines of communication, with league mates, to see what their asking price is for those “aging vets”. This becomes, all the more imperative when said veteran players find themselves in less than desirable positions. Or, in Mr. White’s case, they find themselves all of a sudden void of one Tom Brady. Now, we go buy. The thing about 28-year-old running backs is, they aren’t THAT old, in the grand scheme of things. At least in Old Tom’s eyes. The thing about 28-year-old running backs who have made their mark primarily catching the ball and on 3rd downs is, they are even less old than potentially perceived. Call this a hot take, if you will, but I just firmly believe that regardless of how that New England QB position unfolds in 2020 it’s almost irrelevant to what James White is going to bring to the table.

Rookie RB Hits and Misses: Part 2

Ingram led the way with 202 carries, with Edwards in second with 133 carries. Hill lagged with just 58 carries. Hill also only had eight receptions in all of 2019, a major disappointment for a player with highly touted passing-game skills. Edwards, who has almost no pass-catching ability, finished with seven receptions, just one less than Hill. Hill played in all 16 games, so his poor stats were not due to injury. He also played on only 17% of offensive snaps.

Crowded Backfields with Fantasy Value for Redraft Leagues

In redraft fantasy league drafts, the goal is to find value throughout the draft to achieve the best possible roster. That goal holds for all positions, but I believe that finding running back value can make or break your roster. Of course, getting a stud or two at the RB position early in the draft

Dynasty Nightmares (NFL Draft Edition)
