Devy Startup Strategy: DFF Factory Fight Club C2C Chronicles V5 – Part 2

In Part 1, we talked about analyzing a few more of the earlier Campus rounds to give you a sense of what Rookie and Devy Drafts might look like in 2025+, and we’ll get to that in Part 3. But I thought getting a few tidbits from around the drafting table would be a solid exercise. I asked for and received a few of the crew’s favorite Campus picks for their squads. And because I always beat the drum for the deep dive at Dynasty Football Factory, the only requirement was that the selection be in Round 7 or later.

Ja’Kobi Lane (USC, WR, Sophomore)

Pick 21.04 by @Evan_Kerr_

Overshadowed by Zachariah Branch and Makai Lemon, Lane hasn’t received the praise he probably should have. He’s 6’4” ~200 lbs. and has the right size to be an NFL Pro. He has looked excellent in the spring practices and the spring game. At 18.09 he feels like a lottery ticket for CFF in a high-volume passing offense and has the potential to be an early Day 2 NFL Pro in a few years.

Noah Rogers (NC State, WR, Redshirt Freshman)

Pick 12.07 by @RookieWhisper

I was itching to draft Rogers for a couple of rounds. The highly sought-after former 4-star and transfer from OSU is a very talented player who was never given the opportunity to shine in an impressively loaded WR room in Columbus. Rogers will be one of Grayson McCall’s top weapons in an offense, backed up by his strong spring game performance of seven receptions for 133 yards. I believe this NC State offense will put up a lot of points this year. Don’t be surprised if Noah Rogers outproduces Kevin Concepcion this year.

Crishon McCray (Kent State, WR, Redshirt Sophomore)

Pick 15.09 by @Jim_DFF

In short, this kid could end up being a cheat code on the Campus side. He’s the entire Kent State offense and he’s only entering his redshirt sophomore season. As a redshirt freshman, McCray had a 34% target rate and was first-team All-MAC. He can line up out wide, in the slot, and in motion. He’s “option 1” on every pass play. Read more about him via Jim’s deep dive DFF Article.

Donovan Smith (Houston, QB, Senior)

Pick 19.07 by @bwinknfl

Smith, in my opinion, has the upside to be the QB1 in a wide-open 2025 draft class. He has prototypical size, incredible athleticism with his arm and legs, and is discounted right now due to an injury he’ll fully recover from for the 2024 season. Don’t count Smith out from having a big year and leaping into the QB1 conversation.

Malik Benson (FSU, WR, Senior)

Pick 23.01 by @BigWiggyStyle

This pick is the one I have the highest anticipation for because of the untapped talent and high upside that talent could unleash. The 2023 No. 1 Juco National Recruit via 247Sports and former high school track star has taken the long road to finding a home at the next level by way of Hutchinson Community College, Alabama, and now finally Florida State. Like the saying goes “good things come to those who wait” and according to reports from spring ball out of Tallahassee that’s just what has happened for Benson. With the exception of a small injury issue, he’s been a team standout and DJU’s favorite target this spring.

Nyck Harbor, (South Carolina, WR, Sophomore)

Pick 9.03 by @BingoGringo

True Sophomore but still 18, Olympic track and field hopeful

Appeared on Bruce Feldman’s “Freak” list as #1 overall as a true freshman. 6’5” 240 lbs. but has world-class speed.

Con: he might be a better track star than a football player.

carter

Nathan Carter (Michigan State, RB, Sophomore)

Pick 19.02 by @DFF_Woody

The running back from Michigan State, Nathan Carter, is my favorite Campus pick for my draft. Getting such an experienced back from a reputable college was a thrill in the 19th round. Fantasy football is all about taking dart throws this late in the draft and landing a potential breakout season.
