The Factory Fight Club: DFF C2C Chronicles V2

One of the things about joining a Dynasty Fantasy Football startup with Industry Experts & Analysts is the expectation that early moves will be calculated and tight. Like any other sporting event or strategic activity such as boxing or poker, there’s a “feeling out” period as participants look for subtle tendencies or game plans. We’ve all been there, waiting for the first shoe to fall, for the trade market to be set, or just something to pop. In The Factory Fight Club, that took exactly six picks.

The opening went relatively chalk with Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes going 1.01 and 1.02. I took C.J. Stroud at 1.03, clearly before the Stefon Diggs trade news broke, but I was looking for a young Kingmaker that I could anchor my team around for the long term. Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts, and Joe Burrow followed – nothing too surprising. Then something cracked, much like an egg or a skull.

@bwinknfl moved up four spots in a seemingly innocuous yet positional move with @DFF_Woody to grab Anthony Richardson at 1.07. @DFF_Woody then went to work and enticed me to move up to 1.11 to grab Ja’Marr Chase. As a Cowboys fan, I was tempted to snag CeeDee Lamb here, but I have tons of Lamb shares, so a little spice felt nice. Woody continued working the phones and somewhere around the middle of the second round, the levy broke.

At the time of writing this article, we’re sitting on 5.05 with an exceptional 17 trades already executed. Most of the combinations included grabbing Campus picks to shore up the CFB side of the aisle, but EVERY GM has moved multiple pieces. It would seem the “feeling out” process has ended, and chaos has ensued. I’m used to these kinds of startups in my leagues as they’re always extremely active. Our other DFF Devy Leagues have numerous post-draft trades, but seeing the volume this early on with this group inspired me to put pen to paper earlier than expected.

I was relatively quiet outside of the Chase move until today, when I ponied up and moved Campus picks to land De’Von Achane. I also grabbed Dalton Kincaid just after the Diggs move broke and felt pretty solid about the defacto WR1 in Buffalo, for the moment at least. In my final move of the evening, I connected with @FF_Reez moving the 5.02 and Campus 1.10 and 11.10 to add Jayden Daniels as my QB2. I had previously moved up to 5.02 with an eye on Jared Goff, but took a shot on Daniels who’s also my QB2 in Superflex Dynasty Rookie Drafts this season.

Currently sitting with Stroud and Daniels plus Chase, Rome Odunze, Kincaid, and Achane on the squad. As for the Campus side, I’m a little squeamish that I’ve moved high-value picks to gain NFL assets, but I’m confident I can move back into position later when the dust settles a bit. Not a bad start, but it’s early in the draft, and the way these moves are happening, the expected has become the unexpected.
