Devy Startup Strategy: DFF Factory Fight Club C2C Chronicles V5 – Part 1

The DFF Factory Fight Club C2C Campus startup draft component is slowly arriving at completion and unlike the NFL startup, there have been few fireworks. The fellas are playing this side of the competition straight with almost 100% of the trades occurring before we moved from Canton. There have been precisely two transactions, both involving @RookieWhisper as Carl could not shake the cowbell that rattled our NFL side. So what story are we telling here exactly? My takeaway is that our guys planted serious flags in the early rounds focused on Devy prospects that should be playing on Sundays at some point.

Quinshon Judkins went #1 overall to @BigWiggyStyle which wasn’t so much a surprise as it was the answer to who the overall Devy 1.01 is at the current market. Though opinions vary, Cody made no mistake that the former Ole Miss stud and current Ohio State thumper is “The Guy” and his placement alongside TreVeyon Henderson this upcoming season will serve notice to Big Ten schools that the Buckeyes intend to smash.

After Judkins, five of the next six first-round picks were wide receivers including in order: Luther Burden (MIZ – @DFF_Woody), Jeremiah Smith (OSU – sknauss), Evan Stewart (ORE – @Evan_Kerr_), Tetairoa McMillan (ARI – @Justin_Massie_), and Emeka Egbuka (OSU – @bwinknfl). The high value placed on WRs wasn’t a seismic deviation from what you see in 1QB startups, but given that the Campus format is Start 2QB with a Superflex spot it was a bit surprising that our first quarterback didn’t come off the board until Pick 1.06.

Our guy Carl took Nico Iamaleava out of Tennessee to start the QB run. The QB1 could’ve realistically been any of the four others that followed including, in order: Dylan Raiola (NEB – @FF_Reez), Jackson Arnold (OKLA – @Jim_DFF), Carson Beck (UGA – @RookieWhisper again), and Jalen Milroe (ALA – graybrod). Wide receiver Zachariah Branch (USC – @FF_Reez again) was sandwiched in at 1.10.

What can we glean from the first round actionable for your Devy and Dynasty leagues? The easy answer is that wide receivers and quarterbacks, including underclassmen, received prominent attention at the top of the Campus Draft despite a running back going first overall. Furthermore, The DFF and Family Crew may very well be signaling what the first round of rookie drafts looks like in 2025 when Carson Beck, Jalen Milroe, Quinshon Judkins, Luther Burden, Tet McMillan, Emeka Egbuka, and Evan Stewart are expected to declare for the NFL Draft. Unquestionably, much can happen in a single CFB season that may turn these expectations on their proverbial ear, but who doesn’t love a waaaaaaaaaay too early semi-mock rookie draft?

That wraps up the initial dive into the DFF Factory Fight Club Campus side startup. We’ll explore the next few rounds that showcase less obvious selections working their way onto your draft boards for future consideration. And later we’ll look at some of the crew’s favorite deep cuts and sleepers that may or may not play on Sundays but will be fun as hell to watch on Saturdays in a few months.
