NFL Draft Betting Guide

As Dynasty Fantasy Football Managers, this time of year is one of the most exciting. The NFL Draft is upon us and we finally get to have landing spots for the rookies we have spent the last few months evaluating and debating. For handicappers, this week also provides a golden opportunity, betting on the NFL Draft. The sportsbooks are working with all the same information we are this week and this week is notoriously bad for the sportsbooks. As Dynasty managers, we have a massive edge in this market thanks to our time spent studying film and analytics. This market is also extremely volatile to news and reporting so be prepared for lines to have massive swings much more so than typical in-season wagers. Line changes can occur for several different reasons but a bet I may like here at one price may not apply if the juice (gambling odds) changes. All of our odds for today will be provided by FanDuel Sportsbook from April 24th and 12:00 PM EST.

AFC Divisional Betting Odds

Some real value can be found in these bets if you’re willing to do the research. For instance, last year two teams went from 2017 doormats to divisional winners (the Texans and the Bears) and provided bettors with a nice payout. While a worst-to-first turnaround shouldn’t be expected every year, there is certainly value to be had in placing these year-long bets.   For each division, I’ll provide two picks. The first is the “Best Bet,” or the bet I feel is most likely to hit. As boring as it is, this is most likely the favorite and thus the safest bet to place. The second is the “Best Odds,” or where I perceive the best value to be. Full disclosure, this is where I take a little more liberty in my selections so if you’re looking for an opinion on the safest bet, I’d suggest sticking with my first recommendation.With that out of the way, let’s get on with the show!

Hello, fellow Dynasty leaguers! In this series I will be going through the top-48 WRs in Dynasty, providing stats and insight on them. The WR market can be hard to pick apart because there are so many players in so many situations and so many factors in play. Here I will try to help make it easier by giving my thoughts on some players I find interesting and maybe it can help you navigate the market and find some values. When considering WR Dynasty value there are three main things I look at: a path to accruing value, immediate projectable production, and value insulation. These three things can be applied to every player and I use them often to compare who I value more. To do this I will be using BulletProof ADP and separating the players into tiers. Let’s dive right in with the first tier.

Brenton Strange 2023 Dynasty Profile

Brenton Strange was a four-star recruit coming out of high school who redshirted for Penn State in 2019, after playing in two games and making one catch (a four-yard touchdown pass from Will Levis, who later transferred to Kentucky). Strange earned five starts in nine games played during the 2020 Covid-season, catching 17 passes for 164 yards and two TDs. He started all 13 games for the Nittany Lions in 2021, grabbing 20 receptions for 225 yards and three TDs. Strange earned third-team All-Big Ten Conference honors as a junior, recording 32 receptions for 362 yards and scoring five times in 13 starts.

We’ve seen a lot of movement in Dynasty Player Rankings as the dust settles post-NFL Draft. Landing spots and draft capital can completely change the path to success for rookies and veterans alike. As Dynasty owners, we love to project the future production of fantasy players, and the NFL Draft is a big day where we tweak our rankings and decide whether we’re “out” or “all in” on certain guys. In light of this, I want to cover a few names that may be fool’s gold based on their perceived situation.
