Devy Spotlight: Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter

In case you missed it this past weekend, Colorado traveled to Fort Worth to take on a ranked TCU team. The result was a 45-42 victory in a game that could end up being one of the best of the year in college football. Deion Sanders making the jump from Jackson State to Colorado has placed the Buffaloes firmly in the national spotlight, and he brought some fantastic football players with him. Perhaps the two brightest stars that joined Deion in Colorado are his son, Shedeur Sanders, and his favorite playmaker, Travis Hunter.

Four Devy RBs That Will Increase in Value

Nicholas Singleton comes into Penn State already equipped with an NFL build at 6’0” 210 lbs. and the data shows we can expect RBs to gain anywhere from 10-15 lbs. in college. When the time that he is draft eligible comes, he will have prototypical workhorse size. One of his best attributes is his burst through the line of scrimmage and his effortless lateral agility without decelerating to make defenders miss while still keeping that top-end speed.

Devy Players of the Week

True freshman Caleb Williams made his first official start and it was nothing short of spectacular. The 6’1″ 218 lbs., 5-Star, #2 QB in the 2021 class, put on a clinic against Texas Christian University, completing 78.3% of his passes, for 295 yards and four touchdowns. He also added 66 yards and another touchdown on the ground. He looked like a seasoned veteran, picking apart the Horned Frogs defense with a Passer Rating of 243.4. There were questions going into the game, on who would take the first snap at QB, Spencer Rattler or Caleb Williams? Is Rattler still on the team? Will Spencer Rattler transfer? Well, I think is now safe to say, Spencer Rattler will not play for Sooners next season, and will only play for them this season if Williams gets hurt.

The Freakiest Athletes in College Football for 2021: Part 1

This year we will be counting down the most athletic players from the least likely to make an impact in the NFL to the most likely. In doing this we are going to combine the players’ athletic traits, production profiles, and competition levels to highlight undervalued devy assets as well as players to keep an eye on for late breakouts. We will start with the uber-athletic prospects that do not have the production to indicate NFL Draft capital. Let’s dive into the devy dart throws!

Pro Day Round-Up

Today is March 11, 2021, this is important because we are less than a week away from Free Agency. On March 17th we will likely find out where players such as JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kenny Golladay, Aaron Jones, Will Fuller, Curtis Samuel, Corey Davis, Todd Gurley, Marvin Jones Jr., Kenyan Drake, T.Y. Hilton, A.J. Green, and Hunter Henry will land. There are 43 days until the NFL Draft, and in most years we would have the NFL Combine to overreact to, however, as you know the NFL Combine was canceled due to the pandemic. Although we do not get to see all of the relevant players get their testing measurables in the same conditions, we still will get good data from the school’s Pro-Days.

Devy Breakout Player of the Week

Zachary Evans has been one of the top players in the 2020 recruiting class, but after a lengthy recruitment that finally landed him at TCU, he has emerged as the Horned Frogs’ featured back. Evans stands at 5’11” and 195 lbs. has a body nearly ready for NFL action, and his skill set is emerging as one of the most difficult matchups in the nation. Evans was a five-star prospect across all ranking platforms. Along with having the prototypical running back body type, Evans is a consummate athlete who ran a 4.51-second 40-yard dash in high school and conveyed his elusiveness with a positional best 3.91-second shuttle time. Evans was the top recruit that the Horned Frogs have ever received according to 247 Sports, including Eagles phenom receiver Jalen Reagor, and is the best running back for TCU since LaDainian Tomlinson (online platforms were not ranking high school prospects back in Tomlinson’s day).

Early 2020 Rookie Redraft Primer Part 4

Part 1 of this article series focused on the incoming rookie quarterbacks. Then, part 2 and part 3 covered running backs and the top two wide receivers. In this fourth and final part, I will cover four more incoming rookie wide receivers. All of these players come with question marks, but I believe each of them at least has a shot to provide fantasy value in 2020.
