Week 16 Streamers

This is my final real week of streaming coverage. I’ve loved bringing you this article each week for two straight seasons, and it’s sad that the 2020 version will end soon. I’ll probably throw something together for Week 17 as bonus coverage, but we should all move to Week 16 championships. Deciding your fantasy title in Week 17 is silly. With that said, let’s jump into the streamers!

Rookie Stock Market: Week 14

The first week of the fantasy football playoffs is now behind, and I hope you still have a horse in the race. There were lots of rookies in Week 14 that performed well and could have really helped your teams. One top-five QB in Tua, two top 10 WRs in KJ Hamler and Brandon Aiyuk, two top 10 RBs in Jonathan Taylor and Cam Akers, and plenty of others like Lynn Bowden, and J.K. Dobbins who could have been worthy Flex plays. I will not dive into all of these players, but like last week I will be giving you a quick Week 15 playoff spin on the players I do touch on this week. 3,2,1… it’s go time!

Dynasty Sleeper of the Week: Donald Parham

Week 14 has come to a close, and hopefully, everyone is still chugging along in the playoffs. Whether or not you are, you can keep an eye on this week’s sleeper of the week as you get primed for years to come. This week’s sleeper is definitely in the “stash and wait” category, as his 2020 usage isn’t going to wow anyone. He is paired with a good young quarterback in Justin Herbert. If you haven’t guessed it yet, our sleeper is Donald Parham, the young 6’8 athletic tight end that set the XFL on fire. Let’s take a look at Parham’s road to fantasy relevance.

AFC West: Divisional Nuggets

Darren Waller is arguably a top 3 tight end in fantasy football. While there could be some doubt about what changes if Carr is on his way out next year. What isn’t in doubt is the coaching staff for seven more seasons in Las Vegas. Henry Ruggs & Bryan Edwards are an all-in option. They will most likely have a new QB in 2021 and while they haven’t shown all that much to get excited about in 2020, the talent is there undoubtedly and the price has dropped enough to make them both acquirable after their offseason hype. Josh Jacobs has shown that this is what we are getting and, heading into the 2021 season, teams not contending should look to move the RB at what is likely to be peak value and performance before the holdout talk starts.

Week 11 Streamers

Yes, we’ve gotten to this point in 2020. I believe that Smith is the best streaming option for Week 11 in a gruesome streaming week. Smith threw for 390 yards in his first start against the Lions, although he didn’t score any touchdowns. He did complete 69.1% of his passes, though. Smith also had 325 yards and a 75% completion rate relieving Kyle Allen in Week 9 against the Giants. Quarterbacks have torn the Bengals apart in 2020, averaging 260.5 passing yards against them through eight weeks. Then, in Week 10, Ben Roethlisberger carved them up for 333 yards and four touchdowns. While Washington doesn’t nearly have the same offensive weapons as the Steelers, the matchup is strong enough to make Smith a mid-QB2.

Difference Makers by Position: QB

In this series, I am going to list difference makers at each position for your dynasty teams. These are the players that simply separate themselves from the rest of the pack in fantasy scoring one way or another. If your team has one of these players on it, more than likely you have been pleasantly surprised or are receiving exactly what you expected. More than likely these players are outperforming their ADP and may even be unrecognized due to the teams they are on underperforming.

Looking Ahead to Week 10

In this weekly article, I’m going to look ahead to the following week. I’ll point out a few players below 40% owned on ESPN who have strong matchups next week that you can pick up ahead of time to beat the waiver run. I’ll also try and get ahead of breakouts that could happen in the current week, as predicting breakouts is the best way to save your FAAB budget. With added IR spots in most leagues, you can also shift injured players there, opening up a roster spot for these options. Since most of these additions will occur on the weekend, I’ll exclude any players from the Thursday night game, as you won’t be able to add them to your rosters. This season more than any other, it’s essential to remain active and stay ahead of your league mates. I hope you find value in this column and that it helps you succeed on a week-to-week basis.

AFC West: Divisional Nuggets

Clyde Edwards-Helaire has underwhelmed as have all the rookie running backs in 2020. Add into that the issue of one Le’Veon Bell being present and teams that are relying on CEH for a run at a title may be forgiven for being concerned. The question that teams in first through third have to decide is: what matters more… shiny assets for the future or winning a chip?

dynasty sleeper jalen guyton

Dynasty Sleeper of the Week: Jalen Guyton

What a week for this column! We saw some of my previous sleepers come to life in Week Seven. Nelson Agholor looked like the wide receiver one for the Raiders. Deonte Harris caught a touchdown for the Saints. Even Jakobi Meyers looked like the best WR on an abysmal Patriots offense. While all these situations can be a bit tenuous, especially this year and beyond, hopefully, we can keep it going by adding value to the end of your rosters. This week we have a guy that was one of my honorable mentions a couple of weeks back. He flashed again, and this kid is a big-play threat. Jalen Guyton, an undrafted FA from 2019, has made quite a bit of noise this year with limited opportunities. He is currently owned in 15% of leagues according to MyFantasyLeague data, and that will surely creep up, even more, this week after his 84 yards and a touchdown game against the Jaguars.

Week 8 Streamers

The Falcons are a complete sieve as a defense against quarterbacks. Every quarterback facing the Falcons has thrown over 300 yards, including Bridgewater himself in Week 5. In that game, he threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns, and he completed 27/36 passes.

I don’t see why Bridgewater wouldn’t succeed once again this week, as little has changed with either team. Potentially, Christian McCaffrey might even return for this game, although that’s still up in the air. If McCaffrey does play, Bridgewater will regain his top receiving weapon, and he would become a reliable QB1. Even if McCaffrey sits, Bridgewater is still a low-end QB1 and an excellent streaming option for the week.

Raiding the IDP Waiver Wire: Week 7

The NFL collectively held its breath and put forward a full slate of games less regularly scheduled bye weeks. Setting line-ups was only normally frustrating without several studs on both sides of the ball who were off for Week 6. Those leaving the field with injuries sustained in Week 6 include Steelers’ LB Devin Bush, who is lost for 2020 with a torn ACL, Panthers’ safety Juston Burris, Packers’ safety Darnell Savage, and two Eagles: DT Malik Jackson and safety K’Von Wallace. Sorry, Philly fans, I was not trolling you with the comment about injury regression!

Week 7 Streamers

Herbert has been nothing short of spectacular, averaging 21.8 fantasy points/game as the Chargers’ starting quarterback. In Week 5 against the Saints, Herbert threw for 264 yards and four touchdowns, finishing with 27.4 fantasy points on the week. Herbert also adds a bit of value with his legs, although he only averages 13.8 rushing yards/game. However, even a few rushing yards can make the difference at the quarterback positions, as QB scoring is tight outside of the top options. In Week 7, Herbert draws a dream matchup against the Jaguars’ porous defense. They’ve given up 30 or more points in every game since Week 1 in five straight losses. Opposing quarterbacks average two touchdowns, 274 passing yards, and a 106.8 passer rating versus the Jaguars. I expect Herbert to carve up the Jaguars in this game, and I have Herbert ranked as a borderline QB1 for the week.

Rookie Stock Market: Week 5

Week 5 of the NFL season has come and gone and we are now almost one-third of the way through the NFL regular season “shocked face”. As we approach this milestone in the season we are still learning a lot about the rookies each and every week. Some flash, some stumble, but what I aim to do here is help you make informed decisions based on their performances. Let’s begin, shall we?

AFC West: Divisional Nuggets

What can you say about this team? Although they initially struggled to put away a depleted Patriots team, they are 4-0 and chances are if you have two of these guys on your team… so are you. Mahomes is the QB5 on the season averaging 27 PPG. But the consistently high weeks are why he is the QB1 overall. He is a plug-and-play each week starter. His rock Travis Kelce at tight end is TE2 on the season but we can expect that to change back to him being the TE1 as the season goes on.

Against the Spread: NFL Week 5

For the ATS (against the spread) articles, I will provide analysis on three bets that I feel have the best chance at netting you a nice payday. Whether it be due to matchups, injuries, or other factors, these are the three bets I feel the most confident in placing. I will also make predictions on the rest of the week’s spreads. How about a little Thursday night action to get us started?

Austin Ekeler suffered a hamstring injury in Week 4

Austin Ekeler Injury Reaction

Chargers’ running back Austin Ekeler suffered a severe hamstring injury in their Week 4 game versus the Buccaneers. Ekeler had played well in 2020 before his injury, especially once the Chargers switched to rookie Justin Herbert at quarterback from Tyrod Taylor. In Week 3, Ekeler had 11 receptions on 11 targets for 84 yards, and he ran for 59 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Ekeler wasn’t quite the reliable PPR RB1 some had hoped for, but he was a reliable fantasy asset before his injury. Now, he will likely miss a minimum of four weeks. However, I have serious concerns that Ekeler could be gone even longer than that. The Chargers recently signed Ekeler to a 4-year, $24.5 million contract, so they will want to protect their investment in him for the long-term. They currently sit at 1-3, and losing Ekeler will severely hurt their offense.

Against the Spread: NFL Week 4

A great week as we went 2-1 on our in-depth picks and 11-5(!) overall! After some average 9-7 starts this was shot in the arm we were looking for. Our strategy of picking against the Jets continues to work to perfection and (spoiler alert) we’re going to roll with it again this week.  Unfortunately, Biscuits could not keep her hot streak going and fell to 2-1 on the season. No worries though, she told me she already has her next pick locked and loaded!

Raiding the IDP Waiver Wire: Week 4

Your author assumed responsibility for this weekly column midway through the 2019 season. Deep into a fantasy football season, the waiver wire is often simply a source for a line-up salve. I sought to recommend a player that could help a team survive and advance. I used immediate past production as an indicator of potential performance. I also considered scheme fit, match-up, game flow, snap counts, injuries, and returning players to make recommendations.

Against the Spread: NFL Week 3

A perfect 3-0 on our in-depth picks is overshadowed by one of the worst injury days I’ve ever witnessed watching the NFL. While I primarily write on sports betting, I am also an avid fantasy football player. So trust me Barkley and CMC owners, I feel you. This was brutal. Overall we again went 9-7-0 bringing our record to 18-14-0. I suppose a net positive is a good thing but I’m still eager to get that really good week!
