DynastyPatrolHQ’s Devy Freshmen: RB Landscape

Today, I’m going to be taking a look at the incoming freshman class of RBs, going over my top four. This is the third in a three-part series; last time, I addressed my top four freshman WRs, and first, I went over my top four freshman QBs

Jerrick Gibson (RB-Texas)

Texas churns out top-tier RBs, and Gibson will likely have to sit behind Cedric Baxter for a couple of seasons. Still, standing at 5’10” and 200 lbs, Gibson has the prototypical size to be a bell-cow back on Saturdays. He played his high school ball at IMG Academy in Florida and had 1,348 yards and 16 TDs over his junior and senior seasons. Gibson is a big back with breakaway speed that rarely goes down at first contact. Arch Manning, Trey Wingo, and Gibson mean Texas will take college football by storm in 2025.

james peoples

James Peoples (RB-OSU)

OSU already has easily the best RB duo in the nation in Queshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson, but that didn’t stop them from landing my second favorite freshman RB in Peoples. He stands at 5’9″ and 200 lbs but plays much faster than you’d think. Peoples’ tape is silly; anyone who tries to tackle him in open space looks like they’re trying to tackle Barry Sanders. The kid is that elusive. He also ran track and field in high school, where he went to Veterans Memorial in San Antonio, Texas. Peoples hasn’t shown anything in the way of pass-catching yet during his young career, but that could change with time.

Nate Frazier (RB-Georgia)

Frazier has the ideal size to be a top back at 5’9″ and 206 lbs, but he has a mountain to climb for playing time in his freshman year. With Trevor Etienne and Branson Robinson already in tow, I expect Frazier to redshirt his frosh season. However, he should be able to take over the UGA backfield reigns by 2025, with Etienne and Robinson heading to the NFL. Frazier ran for 1.276 yards and 15 TDs over his last two seasons in high school. Invest in Devy leagues with confidence as if you’re getting in on the ground floor, and sit back and watch Frazier dominate in 2025.

martin

Quinton Martin (RB-PSU)

It has become a theme of these freshman RBs that they won’t see time early on in their careers, and Martin is no exception. PSU has one of the best backs in the country in Nick Singleton, and Martin will struggle to see the field as a frosh. Still, as with every back on this list, patience is a virtue. Draft them in Devy and sit back, be patient, and reap the rewards in 2025 before your league mates have even heard of these guys. Martin stands at 6’2″ and 200 lbs, making him a thumper at the next level. Still, at 200 pounds, he has plenty of breakaway speed to break any run open at any time.
